A bit about this role:

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you!

What can you expect to be doing?

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

• face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.
• online fundraising – assisting with online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised.
• bringing new ideas! We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.
• engaging with your local branch and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team.

A bit about this role

Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help our feline friends. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances
• Providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.

PLANNING

1. Help establish a programme of talks for September to May (excluding December) using speakers recommended by the RSPB. A list of speakers and where they are based is available online via the RSPB. List of speakers for the year ahead should be ready for the printing of a leaflet in late November. Seek approval from the Committee for the programme and seek their suggestions for future meetings. Some speakers may provide talks on Zoom as a preference and these may be booked for the winter months, to provide group members with different media.

2. Contact speakers to carry out talks who meet the following criteria: • Good public speaker • Strong photographic background • Has own laptop and projector or can use PowerPoint style presentation. • Lives within reasonable travelling distance • Whose fees and expenses are acceptable to the Committee.

3. Confirm in writing or by email the arrangements made and obtain mobile phone number to be used in emergencies. Explain car parking arrangements.

4. Notify the Treasurer of the fee to be paid.

5. Contact the speaker two weeks in advance of the meeting to make any last-minute arrangements. PREPARATION:

6. Book room at the venue.

7. Arrange and confirm dates and arrangements made with speakers.

8. Ensure that the equipment (namely sound system, laptop and projector), is working and to arrange maintenance / repairs when required.

9. Have available at all meetings at least one suitable DVD to be used in the unlikely event of a speaker failing to attend.

10. Provide the newsletter editor and WEB organiser with a brief write up of the talks with details of the subject and speaker.

RUNNING THE MEETING

1. Arrange chairs and tables
2. Set up the screen, projector table and any extension leads required.
3. Ensure that any cables across the floor are taped down to avoid trips.
4. Put out signs to say where the meeting is.
5. Adjust the heating / ventilation of room as necessary
6. Arrange for someone to dim the lights at the appropriate time.
7. Agree with the speaker an appropriate time for refreshments.
8. Introduce the speaker, giving brief details of background and experience.
9. Ensure that the second half of the meeting starts promptly.
10. At the end of the meeting give a vote of thanks to the speaker.

FOLLOWING THE MEETING

1. Obtain from the Treasurer a cheque for the speaker’s fee and give this to him / her at the end of the meeting.
2. Ensure that all furniture is tidied.
3. Check for any lost property.
4. Take equipment away from the room.
5. Check that lights and appliances have been switched off and the doors are closed.

The National Bargee Travellers Association (NBTA) is a volunteer organisation dedicated to upholding and defending the rights of itinerant boat dwellers on Britain's inland and coastal waterways. We exist because boat dwellers in the UK face significant challenges:

- Limited access to essential services like healthcare and education

The Opportunity:

We're seeking a dynamic National Organiser to support our newly established Kennet and Avon canal NBTA branch and expand in other areas outside London. This role offers a unique chance to strengthen grassroots activism and foster a sense of community among boat dwellers across the UK.

Key Responsibilities within the time you have:

- Provide crucial organisational and administrative support to the newly set up Kennet and Avon canal NBTA branch

- Develop and implement strategies to encourage NBTA members outside London to form local action groups

- Empower and support NBTA activists in organising their own initiatives and events

- Collaborate with existing team members to enhance our national presence and effectiveness

- Coordinate and facilitate communication between local groups and the wider community

The Ideal Candidate:

- Passionate about social justice and community organising

- Excellent organisational and administrative skills

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others

- Understanding of democratic organisational systems

- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team

- Experience in grassroots activism or community organising (preferred)

- Familiarity with the challenges faced by boat dwellers, particularly on the Kennet and Avon canal (advantageous)

About the role

As a MindWell Research Champion, you’ll be part of the MindWell team and play a vital part in helping to raise awareness of the information, guidance and support MindWell offers. 

• You’ll help us to identify health and wellbeing events across the city and key locations for distributing and displaying MindWell materials. 
• You’ll make contact with event organisers and locations to find out whether MindWell can support them in any way.

Tasks and responsibilities

• You’ll research events across the city that are focused on improving health and wellbeing.
• You’ll research locations for distributing and displaying MindWell materials.
• You’ll contact event organisers and locations to find out how MindWell can support them.
• You’ll create a calendar of events, build contacts and relationships with organisations and individuals.
• You'll represent MindWell and act as our ambassador.

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic UK Contingent Leader to define, organise and deliver this fantastic event, working in partnership with UK Headquarters staff and other senior volunteers, utilising the learnings of past UK Contingents. You will recruit and (directly and indirectly) manage a contingent of adult volunteers and young people to participate in this fantastic event. As well as the Jamboree itself, you will be responsible for helping develop the UK Contingent experience and working closely with UK Headquarters staff to create and manage the event budget.

Being UK Contingent Leader for our contingent to the 26th World Scout Jamboree will be an experience like no other. Working alongside staff and other senior volunteers, you'll help set the direction for the UK Contingent and form a team of high-performing volunteers around you. You'll deliver an unforgettable and life-changing experience to the thousands of young people and adults who attend the Jamboree - as well as delivering projects that help the UK Contingent make a wider difference to the Scouts' entire membership.

We try to solve the problems we’re struggling with in life from the big things to the everyday mundane challenges. We try to solve our problems individually and also as a collective community, tackling the problems in alternative and creative ways. We aim to be an intergenerational project - all ages and all kinds from families’ welcome. 

We have a number of volunteer roles to join our committee and to support our projects. We are seeking people who can offer around  1-5 hours a week commitment (in person, online or both). If you would like a more substantial role such as 1 or 2 days a week, we’d also love to hear from you! Co-Chairs - 2 roles 

The Co-Chairs will act as a figurehead for Grow Your Life and represent us at meetings and public events. The Chairs will lead the committee in setting strategies and ensure that the committee fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the group.

Other duties include;

• leading meetings
• setting and approving agendas
• signing cheques and legal documents

Secretary - 2 roles

The Secretary’s role is to support the Chairs by ensuring the smooth administrational running of the group’s board.

The Secretaries will be responsible for (or delegate the task of);

• taking, writing, and circulating minutes.
• preparing and circulating agendas as agreed by the chair.
• booking rooms and arranging meetings.
• keeping the organisation’s constitution, a copy of minutes and other records in a safe place.

Treasurer - 2 roles

The Treasurer’s role is to oversee the financial affairs of the group.

The Treasurers will work with the board and any paid staff or volunteers to carry out the following tasks:

• keep accurate, up-to-date financial records.
• produce end-of-year accounts – or arrange for these to be completed and externally examined.
• check bank statements and reconcile them with the cash book/ current account book on a regular basis.
• ensure that understandable systems are in place for petty cash claims.
• ensure that bills are paid promptly, and all income is banked on a regular basis.
• report regularly to the committee on the financial situation.
• report to the Annual General Meeting on the end-of-year accounts.
• prepare an annual budget for the committee, working with the Chair.

Fundraising: 

Funding Bids Lead:

• Identifying funders and completing funding applications

• Events organisation (run funs etc)

Both Leads would link with the Treasurer and group to identify funding needs.

Volunteer Lead 

• Recruitment of volunteers including DBS checks etc.

Trustees x 2 vacancies 

At BTO, we are fortunate to have a fantastic and committed Board of Trustees and we are now looking for two new trustees to join us from 2025 on an initial 4 year term. BTO Trustees work with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team to enable our organisational strategy,and to manage and administer the charity effectively, bringing a range of valuable expertise from their own knowledge and experience. 

Trustee vacancy 1 Regional Network member
We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a member of the BTO Regional Network to contribute to the work of BTO’s Board and to Chair our Regional Network Committee. This opportunity is open to all Regional Representatives, Regional Ambassadors, Regional Organisers, Local Organisers. The committee meets four times a year, once face-to-face and three times via video call. In this important role, as well as undertaking the responsibilities of a Trustee, as Chair of a BTO committee, you will ensure the Regional Network is represented at both committee and Board level, working collaboratively and supportively with BTO staff and the wider network to ensure the network is effective and enabled.

Trustee vacancy 2 Safeguarding and Inclusion 
We are seeking someone to bring their knowledge and experience in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and safeguarding to BTO and our Board of Trustees and to Chair our Governance, Safeguarding and Inclusion committee which meets 4 times a year. BTO is undertaking significant work in the area of EDI, and safeguarding is a critical part of the way we work. Alongside the responsibilities of a trustee, this is an important role that requires working closely and collaboratively with staff, the committee and BTO Board to apply your knowledge and experience within a BTO context. We are looking for applicants with a range of experience across both or either area of EDI and Safeguarding, with a willingness to demonstrate a commitment to both.

The role of a Trustee
Board members have overall legal responsibility for BTO, ensuring financial, regulatory and monitoring performance. BTO provides induction and training opportunities to all Trustees to support them in fulfilling their role. Trustees have the opportunity to contribute to discussions, identify key issues and provide insight, ideas and encouragement on various topics, all of which help BTO to achieve its vision and mission.

We are interested in hearing from people who are passionate about contributing to BTO and are able to demonstrate:

• Commitment to the mission and values of the BTO

• Willingness to meet the minimum time requirement*, as well as contributing outside of Board meetings, through attending events and supporting staff

Time Commitment
Being a trustee is a commitment and we aim to be upfront about what it involves. We provide a calendar of meetings and engagements to all trustees at the start of the year. As an overview, annual meetings and engagements include 5 Board meetings, 1 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and sub committee meetings if you are interested in serving on a subcommittee. There will also be an induction period which takes approximately 10 hours in total but some parts are done independently at times that suit you (like the reading and eLearning).

Expenses
This is a voluntary, unpaid position. Travel and accommodation associated with attending meetings can either be arranged in advance by BTO (so there is no expenditure on the part of the Trustee), or expenses can be reimbursed afterwards.

What will you be doing?

Be part of the celebration with OSCAR, BAFTA winning celebrity guests and sustainability leaders - event at London's iconic venue, Curzon Soho London.

1. Generate buzz around the event by posting about it before, during, and after the event
2. Help With Red Carpet Event Photos, posing with guests, give interviews and reactions
3. Work with the host and organisers to welcome guests.

What difference will you make?

At least 85% of people who first came to learn about the UN SDGs via the film festival were not aware of those at all, until now! This can give you an idea of the need for this initiative to educate the common man about the UN SDGs, its significance and the importance of inspiring them to act on the UN SDGs.

Your initiatives will ensure that the film festival gets even more notoriety and visibility, thus improving its ability to educate more people about the UN SDGs, boost the festival's public profile, increase the festival's participation, and enhance the support from individuals and organisations.
