As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!
What can you expect to be doing?
This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:
·Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
·Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
·Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
·Completing administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
·Championing our work – getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

About the Role

Accountable to: Head of Fundraising, Events & Comms
The purpose of your role is to lead, coordinate and support the Events team, a small team of volunteers which sits within the Fundraising, Events & Comms department. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, delivery and evaluation of a varied programme of events. Currently, this includes: regular, virtual training opportunities/discussion groups; regional conferences (November); a residential national conference (June/July); three away days per year for Nightline Association volunteers; and the annual Nightline Awards.
The Events Team Lead will work closely with the Operations Officer and CEO to project manage all Nightline Association events, ensuring that necessary tasks are delegated and completed. They will also provide support and guidance to individuals and teams across the organisation who are seeking to deliver their own events.
You will also work with the Research and Impact department to develop our approach to evaluation, and the Services department to ensure that event planning is informed by the needs of Nightlines.
As a Team Lead, you will be supported by the Head of Fundraising, Events & Comms, who will act as your main point of contact and line manager. You will also have access to the support of our staff team, Trustees and other Heads of Department.
Activities and Responsibilities

Oversee and monitor the delivery of all team projects and activities, ensuring these are meeting departmental and organisational strategy, aims and plans.

Approve documentation and products produced by your department.

Line manage volunteers in your team, including monthly one-to-one meetings.

Support and supervise volunteers to ensure they carry out their duties effectively by providing clear communication, support, motivation, facilitation, supervision and leadership.

Assist with the recruitment of new volunteers within your team.

Appoint a temporary replacement for vacant volunteer roles in your team.

Where necessary, apply the Association’s disciplinary procedures, seeking support if needed.

Exhibit and promote effective team working.

Directly contribute to projects as appropriate to support your team.

Organise and run online team meetings on a regular basis to discuss operational activities, plans and ensure oversight of team activity.

Attend a monthly one-to-one meeting with your Head of Department to update on progress, consider new projects, report risks, issues and budget requirements.

Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of the agreed programme of events, to allow us to support member Nightlines to share best practice and feel as though they belong to a community within the Association.

It Gets Better UK envisions a world where all LGBTQ+ youth are free to live equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals. We strive to tell the stories of LGBTQ+ people and to provide positive and reassuring messages to LGBTQ+ youth.

The RNLI is the lifeboats chairty that saves lives at sea and on the Thames. We have groups of volunteers all over the UK working with our volunteer lifeboat crews to raise awareness of water safety as well as raising vital funds to help to keep our lifeboats in the water.

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for the Amersham and Chesham Group. As our Fundraising Volunteer you’ll support your Group Coordinator to organise local fundraising activities and events throughout the year.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills.Most importantly you’ll inspire your local community to raise funds that help make sure no one has to face MS alone.
Time Commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.
