Overview

In partnership with a second, and possibly third Leader, you will lead a Fire (Group) of 8-12 Young Explorers. The Knowledge Leader should combine science and creative activities to help Young Explorers better understand the unique wilderness they explore, and develop curiosity for the future. To achieve this, it is the responsibility of the Senior Knowledge Leader, Knowledge Leaders and the collaboration of all leaders to design and deliver a programme of inspirational, educational projects.

We are looking for applicants who are:

• Able and passionate about leading, inspiring, and facilitating sessions with young people.
• Comfortable spending extended periods in remote and sometimes harsh environments.
• Able to commit to all pre-expedition training events. 

As a charity, all Leader positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis and Leaders join for the intrinsic value of adventure, education, and personal development of young people. You do not have to fundraise to lead on our expeditions.

We're looking for friendly volunteers to help out at our popular Summer Fair & Dog Show, taking place on the 23rd and 24th August.

Timings:

• Friday: Help with set up
• Saturday: 9am-5pm
• Sunday: 9am-5pm

You can help for the entire weekend if you like, but we ask for a three hour shift on the Saturday or Sunday, and any extra support will be gratefully received!

What you'll be doing:

There's a few different roles available, but here's an idea of some of them

• Helping us set up on the Friday
• Hosting a stall during the event with fellow volunteers
• You might be running games, selling refreshments, or running a tombola, or be on entrance or car parking duties.
• Some roles require you to handle cash and use a card reader linked to your phone. Please let us know if you're not able to do this.

What you'll need:

• Be able to sit/stand in a field for a few hours
• Happy speaking to the public
• Be comfortable around dogs
• As this is an outdoor event, dress for the weather and be comfortable in all weather conditions.

Winter Bucket Collections Volunteer - Norfolk

Information about the role 

This role involves supporting our Community Fundraising teams. You’d be joining bucket collection events in the community to help us raise money. This is a highly flexible role. We’ll let you know about upcoming opportunities, and you can choose which you’d like to do.

Suggested contribution: It’s up to you! You can choose the shifts you’d like to volunteer at.

Availability: This is a varied opportunity with bucket collections taking place on different days. You can choose the days that best suit your availability.

Cheerer Volunteering at the 2025 Royal Parks Half Marathon

Would you like to have a great day out, while supporting Shelter’s fundraisers?

Information about the role

The main thing we need you to do is cheer! You will be a vital part of race day, supporting 282 Shelter runners from the side lines. You’ll need to help create a high energy, friendly atmosphere, motivating everyone on race day to do their best.

Volunteering at this event is also an opportunity to have fun, meet new people and experience some wonderful community spirit whilst contributing towards our mission.

This role is vital to the work of FareShare Merseyside. You will be preparing and cooking meals for our volunteers and staff, cleaning down the kitchen, and adhering to allergen, HACCP, and other compliance checks.

For the role of the Volunteer Kitchen Lead/ Chef, a background in food is essential. If you have experience leading a small team, and adhering to food hygiene, you would be a great fit for this role.

What will I be doing?

• Learning how to use our internal Warehouse systems to ‘book out’ food, ensuring a good level of stock is available at all time.
• Planning, creating, and cooking meals from surplus food for volunteer and staff lunches.
• Carrying out routine kitchen cleaning, health and safety checks, and completing all relevant paperwork.
• Assisting with one-off corporate or fundraising events.
• Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

What we need you to be:

• Minimum of 18 years old
• Experience cooking for large numbers of people
• Passionate about food and saving surplus food from going to waste
• Inventive in the kitchen and able to cook for all dietary requirements
• Positive, friendly and personable, able to interact well with different people 
• Good with numbers, identifying different foods, writing clearly  
• Able to work effectively and use your initiative in a fast-paced environment 
• Able to work well in a team and on your own   
• Able to follow FareShare’s policies & procedures
