Stepping Stones is a small, friendly charity in Southwark providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re currently looking for volunteers to support our sessions in:

• Art (Friday mornings)
• Dance Fit (Thursday mornings and/or afternoons)
• Music (Tuesday mornings and/or afternoons)
• Social Club (Thursday afternoons)

These weekly groups offer creative, social, and wellbeing-focused opportunities for our learners, led by experienced tutors in a relaxed, supportive setting.

All sessions take place at St Faith’s Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations)

What You’ll Do

As a volunteer, you’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities to participate fully in the sessions, connect with others, and enjoy meaningful activities. Your role might include:

• Setting up and packing away equipment and materials
• Welcoming students and their carers or support workers
• Offering encouragement and practical support in one-to-one or small group settings
• Helping tutors to deliver fun, engaging activities

All sessions are led by experienced tutors, and you’ll be part of a warm and supportive staff and volunteer team who are committed to inclusion, creativity and care.

• Patience. Some learners may take time to engage or communicate. Patience helps build trust and ensures everyone feels supported.
• Reliable and punctual. Many of our learners value consistency and routine. Being dependable helps build rapport and ensures the session runs smoothly.
• Inclusive communication skills. You should feel confident listening carefully, offering clear instructions or encouragement, and adapting your communication to meet individual needs.
• Inclusive and non-judgemental. We welcome people from all walks of life. An open-minded approach helps every learner feel accepted and valued.
• Adaptable and flexible. Things don’t always go to plan. A calm, flexible approach helps maintain a relaxed and safe environment for our sessions to run.
• Ready to get stuck in! Many sessions involve art, music or movement. You don’t need to be an expert, but a willingness to join in and get involved makes a big difference.

Prior to volunteering, we ask all volunteers to:

• Attend an induction meeting
• Provide two references
• Complete a DBS check (we will arrange this)
• Commit to volunteering one session per week for 3 x 10 week terms throughout the year. For continuity for our service users, we ask that you commit to volunteer for a minimum of a year with us.

Are you interested in facilitating a peer support group for people who are struggling with their mental health? We are looking for passionate volunteers to facilitate a weekly group, to discuss topics relating to mental health. We are hoping to find someone who has either ‘lived experience’ of mental health issues and is now at a positive place with their own recovery or someone who has good knowledge of mental health and looking to support others.

We work with people who need support with their mental health across London and the South East. Our support ranges from registered accommodation services for people with severe mental health conditions to drop-in community and crisis services.

In the last year, 9,499 adults accessed Hestia’s mental health support.

We help people to feel safe, develop hope for a better future, and achieve their personal goals. These goals may include rebuilding relationships with family members and friends or connecting more with their local community.#

What you will be doing

• Facilitating weekly peer support groups, covering topics related to mental health.
• To encourage participation and to provide focus and guidance for discussions within the group
• To negotiate/facilitate conflicts or disagreements that may arise during group meetings

The skills you need

• Strong listening and communication skills
• Ability to create and maintain a safe environment where the participants' thoughts and feelings are valued, and group members are treated with fairness, equity and respect
• Lived experience of mental health or desire to learn

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities/ Activities

To represent Family Centre Services within local communities and help strengthen the link between families and the centre by promoting services and support available.

Key Responsibilities:

· Promote Hertfordshire Family Centres by attending toddler and parent groups and local activities.

What will you be doing?

It’s not just about strategy, governance and finance, though these are important. This is a voluntary position, but expenses are reimbursed.

The role of a trustee is varied and rewarding. It includes:

· Ensuring compliance with the values and objectives of PWA

· Agreeing all new policies and procedures

· Overseeing financial plans and budgets

· Approving the annual business plan

· Oversee the organisation’s fundraising plans and strategy

· Provide guidance and advice to the trustee board on fundraising

· Oversee organisational fundraising and ensure it is carried out in legal, transparent and accountable ways

Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees act as a group and not as individuals.

Commitment

You will be required to attend a minimum of 8 meetings per year which are held on weekday evenings. These are currently being held on line however this may change. There are also two away day events in person. Three-year term, with a maximum of two terms.

· Someone with sufficient fundraising/income generation experience.

· An understanding of the UK charity sector.

· A thorough understanding of the Code of Fundraising Practice.

· Experience of diverse fundraising practices, including trusts and foundations, individual giving, major donors,        corporate, community and events.

· Knowledge of the Peterborough area.

· Strong leadership skills.

The Spooky Welly Walk is creeping back into Sefton Park for another fang-tastic year! One of Merseyside’s most boo-tiful Halloween traditions, this ghostly gathering brings thousands of families together for a day of tricks, treats, and spooky surprises.

Join us if you dare...  We’re summoning all volunteers, witches, werewolves, and wizards alike to help make this year's walk the most spooktacular yet! Even if you can't commit to the full hours, let us know and we’ll conjure up a shift that works for you. 

Roles Include:
- Manning frightfully fun activities like the Yucky Dip and Terrifying Tattoos
- Creepy crowd control (aka stewarding)
- Guiding families through the haunted happenings
- Answering questions from curious creatures and goblins

The day zooms by faster than a broomstick ride —thanks to the endless parade of costumed kiddos and their families! Expect an atmosphere charged with giggles, ghouls, and giddy excitement.
