The Role and Responsibilities
The appointment is primarily strategic in nature, focused on providing robust oversight, direction, and scrutiny, rather than day-to-day management.
Key responsibilities include:

Setting the College's strategic direction and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements.

Scrutinising performance and holding the Executive leadership team to account as a 'critical friend.'

Engaging in discussions concerning strategic planning, financial oversight, and the monitoring of teaching and learning quality.

Reviewing, understanding, and challenging reports prepared by the College Leadership team prior to and during formal meetings.

Required Areas of Expertise
We welcome individuals with varied skills and experience. At this time we are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with professional expertise in the following domains:

Time Commitment and Logistics
Commitment
Voluntary and non-remunerated; reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed.
Term of Office
Governor: Four years; Committee Member: Three years.
Meetings
2-3 Monday evenings per term on site at the College in Eastleigh, generally lasting 2-3 hours. Online attendance is not generally permitted but will be considered in specific circumstances.
Preparation
An estimated 2-3 hours of advance reading is required for each meeting.
Full Governors serve on the main Corporation and at least one dedicated Committee (e.g., Search and Governance, Standards, Finance and Employment, Audit). Co-opted Members serve solely on a Committee initially, with potential progression to a full Governorship within 6-12 months.
Candidates are also strongly encouraged to attend additional College events and departmental visits each term.

Recruitment Stages and Prerequisites to Appointment
All applicants will be invited to the College to meet with the Chair of Governors, the Principal, the Clerk, and an existing Governor. This process is intentionally informal, serving as an opportunity for mutual assessment and for candidates to tour the College facilities.
Safeguarding and Compliance: All appointed Governors are required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, annual Safeguarding training, and commit to the College Code of Conduct, which incorporates the 'Seven Principles of Public Life' (Nolan Principles).

Intern Position Description
We're seeking twenty-five driven and resourceful Fundraising & Grant Writer Interns (Unpaid) to join and support our mission through strategic fundraising, grant applications, and investment. This role is ideal for a self-starter who excels in a dynamic sales and marketing environment, striking a balance between independent work and collaboration. You will play a key role in securing funding opportunities by supporting grant applications, refining pitch materials, and identifying potential funders and investors.
Our internships
Our internships are primarily designed for students and recent graduates seeking practical work experience to enhance their skills and career prospects. Duration:
Our internships can vary in length, ranging from six months to a year, with many lasting two years or more. Time commitment is 10-20 hours per week (flexible based on project needs).

Intern Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns work under supervision and don't have full responsibilities. You will combine studies and work to gain practical experience.
- Grant & Funding Applications – Assist in searching, writing, editing, and submitting funding and grant proposals to secure funding.
- Investment Opportunities – Identify and support AHO for investment programmes and funding opportunities.
- Pitch Deck & Business Plan Enhancement – Edit and refine pitch decks, business plans, and executive summaries to make them funder and investor-ready.
- Developing and executing marketing strategies involves researching target funders, donors, and investors; analysing market trends; and creating plans to reach potential customers.
- Managing marketing campaigns involves overseeing the creation of marketing materials, coordinating promotional activities, and managing budgets.
- Creating content involves writing website copy, blog posts, social media updates, and other marketing materials.
- Managing social media involves creating and scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and monitoring social media performance.
- Investment & Funding Sourcing – Research and identify potential investment funds and donor opportunities for AHO projects and programmes.
- Content & Proposal Development – Tailor responses for funding applications and update existing materials to align with specific opportunities.
- Analysing results: This involves tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns

Qualifications and Experience
No prior experience in fundraising and grant writing is required, but you must possess the following to be accepted:
- Qualification: Studying or a recent graduate in any subject at an accredited UK university or college
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with funders, potential donors, and investors, as well as for creating marketing materials and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Persuasion and Negotiation: The ability to influence funders, potential donors, and investors and secure deals is crucial.
- Creativity: Developing innovative marketing campaigns and content requires a creative approach.
- Interpersonal Skills: Building rapport and establishing strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders is vital.
- Sales and Marketing Techniques: Understanding and applying various sales and marketing techniques to achieve targets.
- Product Knowledge: Having a thorough understanding of the products or services being sold.
- Analytical skills: The ability to analyse data and track campaign performance is crucial.
- Adaptability: Being able to adjust to changing market conditions and customer needs

Zebra is seeking a qualified accountant to join our board of trustees as our next Treasurer.
Zebra is a not-for-profit social enterprise (exempt charity) providing accommotation to postgraduate international students living in London. We believe in the importance of international studies and have been going for over 60 years. We are a healthy organisation with a strong reputation and ambitious plans for the future.
This is an important time for Zebra. We are currently going through the process of deregistering with the Regulator of Social Housing and are changing our accounting practices and systems as we make the transition away from the housing association sector and to a more appropriate structure to prepare us for growth in the future. We have an experienced Finance Manager on our staff team who you will be working with along with the CEO and the rest of the board members.
We ideally need a Treasurer with some understanding of the charity or social enterprise sector. This is an unpaid volunteer role - there are four boars meetings per year (all online), Audit and Risk Committee meeetings (also online), and occasional meet ups in London - but you can be based anywhere to carry out this role.
Duties
- Acting as a mentor to the Finance Manager, supporting her through this period of transition while Zebra puts in place a new structure and new financial systems
- Chairing the Audit and Risk Committee - number of meetings per year to be decided as this is currently under review
- Meeting with our external auditors on Zoom
- Reviewing our quarterly accounts, annual accounts and reports and providing feedback
- Using your expertise to provide advice and support to other board members, including our Co-Chairs, to support them in understanding our finances and helping them to be able to provide good scrutiny and governance
- Attendance of four board meetings per year on Zoom, where you will provide input and opinions especially around financial matters
- Attending one Board Strategy day per year in London for which expenses can be paid (and ideally also attending our Christmas meal)
- The Treasurer should expect to serve for a minimum of 12 months

Time commitment

In addition, Trustees will be expected from time to time to engage with Society staff, as well as to devote appropriate preparation time ahead of each engagement. Trustees are expected to meet any additional time commitment that is reasonable (with a further call for commitment from Committee Chairs to fulfil those roles).
This is a voluntary position, and no remuneration is offered. The Society will, however, reimburse all reasonable ‘out of pocket’ expenses for attendance at meetings.

Talitha Arts is seeking volunteers to join the organisation as Trustees. We currently have five Trustees, with backgrounds encompassing human resources, finance, creative arts, coaching, and leadership. Our Story
Talitha Arts was founded by actor, Amanda Root. It began as a small volunteer organisation, primarily offering mental health support by facilitating arts workshops for International Justice Mission in India and working with professionals in aftercare homes for girls rescued from trafficking and violent abuse.
Over the years, our work has expanded to respond to the needs of U.K. organisations working directly with those who have experienced trauma, abuse, violence, homelessness; ex-offenders, refugees, children, and those who are living with dementia.
Every year as part of our mandate, we train new practitioners in the Talitha Approach to deliver our workshops. Our approach is 'person-centred', meaning it is tailored to the individuals we serve. Our practitioners are both professional creative artists and registered therapists who are passionate about the Talitha Mission.

What can I expect to be doing?

Responsibilities and Duties
The Volunteer Head of Fundraising assists the Director of Fundraising in developing and implementing a comprehensive multi-year funding strategy that encompasses diverse income streams, working collaboratively with senior leadership to coordinate efforts and maintain an up-to-date funding pipeline.
The Volunteer Grants Head assists the Director of Fundraising to:
- Develop and drive a multi-year fundraising strategy to support the organisation's growth ambitions. To include a mix of both existing and new income streams and the resources needed to reach the goals.
- Work with the CEO, Director of Fundraising, and Grant Managers to implement the strategy in a coordinated and effective way.

Time commitment: 10 hours per month
We ask our Board Members to commit to a four-year term of office. Appointed individuals will need to be able to attend five Corporation Board meetings per year, including our strategic away day in May. Board meetings take place on a Tuesday in person at the College and usually outside of the working day.
We estimate that our Governors dedicate around 10 hours per month to their roles, although with this particular focus, we may ask the appointed candidate to take on a ‘link governor’ role, which at times will lead to a need for greater time commitments.
Whilst previous governance experience is welcomed, it is not essential. All new governors are supported through a comprehensive induction and training process, with ongoing support thereafter.
