Are you a painter, illustrator, knitter or potter? You might be a sports teacher, a music student or even a professional writer. If you are dedicated to supporting young people and you’ve got a super skill you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you!

A sibling or young carer is a young person who lives with a family member with a disability, such as a parent or sibling, often providing support or care. Here at Sense, we know that it’s not always easy being a young carer, or the sibling of a disabled person. Their wellbeing and happiness are just as important. That is why we deliver activities and sessions specifically for young people aged 5-18, who have a caring role for a parent or have a sibling with a disability.

We run a wide range of virtual group sessions after school and at weekends. Our sessions are designed to meet the interests of the young people we support, supporting their wellbeing, giving them opportunities to socialise with other siblings and young carers, and providing a fun break that is just for them. 

We are looking for volunteers to share their skills and engage groups of young people through fun, interactive, and accessible Zoom workshops. Volunteers will have experience in one of the following skills, either through study, teaching, running a business, or delivering workshops. Please note you only need one of the following skill areas to apply, however if you have experience in more than one, please do let us know:

This a great opportunity to utilise your own skills and experience to deliver impactful recreational sessions to siblings and young carers across the country. You do not need to have previous experience working with siblings or young carers, we will provide you with training and ongoing support to equip you for your role.

Our staff team will be there to support you every step of the way. The volunteer role is really flexible – you might run workshops after school, evenings, or any time at the weekend – once a month, twice a month, or more if you’d like! You will build up a great rapport with the young people and gain amazing experience supporting them each month.

Fathercraft

We want to change the perceptions of male caring and fatherhood and support more partners to get involved because it creates value for everyone.

Supporting men to be equal and active parents from the start is key for gender equality. Research from Sweden suggests that every additional month of paternity leave taken by fathers increases the mother’s lifetime earnings by 6.7% (Johansson, 2010).

80% of the gender pay gap is attributed to the motherhood penalty (World Economic Forum, 2022)

The gender pay gap more than doubles for women over 40 (ONS, 2022)

Yet despite increasing willingness and interest in taking an active parenting role, in 2022, dads spent, on average, just 55 minutes per day with their children (ONS, 2023).

This is largely due to the fact that one in three working dads don’t feel comfortable talking to their employer about family commitments and/or are not adequately supported to be the best dads and partners they can be.

We have developed an affordable, comprehensive online platform called "Father's Ed" that provides guidance, support, wellbeing services and a community for new or expectant fathers. This includes peer support between dads, science-based online, digital well-being courses covering a range of strange and anxiety triggers, e. g. financial well-being, loneliness, insomnia, etc.). We are also working on providing mental health services for new fathers through partnerships.

Endometriosis UK is the largest UK charity for those with endometriosis. Endometriosis UK works to:

• Provide support to those with endometriosis and their families and friends
• Provide clear, objective information about the condition and its treatments
• Raise awareness amongst health professionals and the general public about the condition
• Support research into endometriosis.

This is an unpaid role. Reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses will be paid.

Time commitment:

• five Trustee Board meetings a year, including preparation for meetings, reading papers etc; and attendance at an annual strategy day and AGM (held on the same days as Board meetings). Three meetings are held in person on London on a Saturday, with two meetings being virtual evening meetings.
• Trustees have the opportunity to take part in Board sub-groups and project groups to develop aspects of the organisations’ work. Current sub-groups include the Finance Committee and Diversity & Inclusion Sub-Group.

Trustees are also invited to attend Endometriosis UK events.

We are currently recruiting for ONE NEW TRUSTEE to join the board. We are particularly looking for significant experience of charity governance, management and best practice. Examples of how this might have been gained include having worked at a senior level in a charity, or previous trustee experience.

If you are keen to join the Endometriosis UK Board and don’t have this experience, there will be further opportunities over the next year as we will be recruiting for more trustees as Board members reach their maximum length of service. Keep an eye on our social media for more information.

Personal experience of living with, or having a close family member with, endometriosis, is vital on our Board. Whilst we look favourably on applications from those in the endometriosis community, we already have Trustees with first hand lived experience and new trustees do not need to have endometriosis.

About Mast Cell Action

Mast Cell Action is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals living with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), raising awareness, advancing understanding through education and resources and advocating for better recognition and treatment of MCAS within the medical community and the wider world.

Our stories are a key part of our community support, providing validation and reassurance to those living with MCAS, their families and carers, and helping to advocate for their needs to the medical professionals who look after them.

Main purposes of role

We are seeking a Volunteer Stories Writer to join our Community Stories team. You will play a vital role in capturing and sharing the lived experiences of individuals with MCAS. This project aims to provide a voice to those affected, helping both the MCAS community and medical professionals better understand the real-world impact of the condition.

Key tasks

• Collate emailed stories submitted by community members living with MCAS.

• Transcribe, edit, and proofread stories with accuracy and sensitivity.

• Adapt patient stories for different audiences, ensuring an empathetic and engaging tone for the MCAS community and a more structured, medical-focused version for healthcare professionals.

• Maintain high standards of spelling, grammar, and clarity in all written content.

• Work closely with the Community Support Coordinator to ensure consistency and alignment with the charity’s goals.

• Upload approved stories to the charity’s website.

Skills and Experience 

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to write with empathy and sensitivity to the challenges faced by individuals with MCAS.

• Experience in storytelling, journalism, or content writing.

• Ability to adapt narratives for different audiences, particularly medical professionals.

• Strong understanding of tone, voice, and structure in written content.

• Familiarity with basic website content management systems (preferred but not essential).

The regular updating of our Community Stories website with stories that validate our community members’ experiences, and provide positive and uplifting stories of hope. 

Those living with MCAS feel heard and seen, and validated. They have access to a library of others’ experiences that help them to navigate their own journey. 

The creation of Medical Stories which can be used to educate medical professionals about the experiences of those living with MCAS, and lobby for systemic change in diagnosis and treatment.

Our Education Officer, Laura Chepner, coordinates the Vegan Campout Family Marquee each year and is looking for an enthusiastic assistant. This role begins with some remote administrative support and builds up to on-site assistance a few days before the festival. You would be required on site from Tuesday 26th August, supporting Laura, up to the morning of Friday 29 August when you will clock off. After that, you’re free to enjoy the rest of the festival from Saturday onwards (free ticket included). vegv

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience in events or festival planning, while gaining an exclusive behind-the-scenes insight into one of the UK’s most successful vegan festivals. 

Why do we need you? 

Vegan Campout's Family Marquee is growing year on year and we want to ensure it continues to be a welcoming, engaging and successful space for children and families. To achieve this, we need a dedicated and capable volunteer to support Laura Chepner, our Education Officer, in preparing and delivering an event that gets better every year. As the marquee evolves and expands, so too does the work required behind the scenes – and your help will be vital in making this year the most successful yet. 

What does the role involve? 

In the months leading up to the festival, you’ll support Laura with various administrative tasks, including managing emails and maintaining Excel spreadsheets. This support will gradually increase as the event draws nearer. 

You may also assist in liaising with volunteers and artists, collecting and managing essential information such as DBS certificates and first aid qualifications. 

From Tuesday 26 August, you’ll be on-site helping with the physical setup of the marquee, coordinating deliveries, arranging activities and supporting logistical tasks. You’ll also help liaise with partners and sponsors to ensure everything is in place and ready for the opening day. 

What training and support is available? 

There is no formal training required. You will be working closely with Laura, who will guide and support you throughout the entire process. 

What skills would be useful in doing this role? 

We are looking for a volunteer who is: 

• Proficient in administrative tasks 
• Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel 
• Organised, reliable and dependable 
• Friendly with strong people skills 
• Comfortable managing communications and coordinating information 

What does my availability need to be? 

*Non-negotiable – You must be available to arrive on-site at Campout from Tuesday 26 August and remain until the morning of Friday 29 August. Food and breaks will be fully catered for during this period. 

In the months leading up to the festival, there will be a few hours of admin support required each week. From May onwards and this will gradually increase, reaching a maximum of around 16 hours per week across June, July and August.

BloodForce

We work in Ghana to eliminate the burden of blood acquisition on providers and patients in crisis by leveraging technology to galvanize the public to increase Ghana’s Blood Collection Index to greater than 10 by 2030, because no patient in crisis should die from unavailability of blood products.

Ghana at 5.6 per 1000 population, is significantly behind WHO minimum standard [10 per 1,000 population] required to meet a country’s basic transfusion needs. As a result, restrictive blood disbursement policies have resulted in delayed care for critical patients in Ghana and in many cases, avoidable deaths.

We believe that public communities can be mobilized to close gaps in health care delivery, particularly in developing countries. BloodForce plans to build an online blood donor community that can reliably and meaningfully increase blood donation rates in Ghana while helping patients and families navigate their blood product health crises. This community will also serve as a platform for advocacy and education, strengthening transfusion services across the country.

Become a vital part of our 70th Anniversary! We're looking for a passionate volunteer to join our 4-person Philanthropy and Special Events team for 6 months. Work directly with our Special Events Manager, gaining practical experience as you help deliver a spectacular 70th-anniversary drinks reception for high-value audiences on November 26th 2025 in central London, set to raise £30,000 to ensure the sustainability of our services for years to come.

Key Duties: 

• Research and identify companies and individuals to approach for silent auction prize donations for our 70th-anniversary event, which aims to raise £30,000 to support children and adults with complex needs.
• Contact potential prize donors via email and phone.
• Accurately log all donor communications and prize details on team files and our database.
• Collect key prize information (descriptions, terms, expiry dates) and arrange/coordinate delivery of prizes and vouchers for the event.
• Assist with essential event administration, including creating name badges, inputting guest access and dietary requirements onto a central system, and compiling guestlists onto a check-in system.
• Option to provide event day support on the evening of November 26th in central London.
• Opportunity to gain insight into other areas of event management based on interest, such as invitation concept development, donor stewardship, or drafting communications.

Become a vital part of our 70th Anniversary! We're looking for a passionate volunteer to join our 4-person Philanthropy and Special Events team for 6 months. Work directly with our Special Events Manager, gaining practical experience as you help deliver a spectacular 70th-anniversary drinks reception for high-value audiences on November 26th 2025 in central London, set to raise £30,000 to ensure the sustainability of our services for years to come.

Key Duties: 

• Research and identify companies and individuals to approach for silent auction prize donations for our 70th-anniversary event, which aims to raise £30,000 to support children and adults with complex needs.
• Contact potential prize donors via email and phone.
• Accurately log all donor communications and prize details on team files and our database.
• Collect key prize information (descriptions, terms, expiry dates) and arrange/coordinate delivery of prizes and vouchers for the event.
• Assist with essential event administration, including creating name badges, inputting guest access and dietary requirements onto a central system, and compiling guestlists onto a check-in system.
• Option to provide event day support on the evening of November 26th in central London.
• Opportunity to gain insight into other areas of event management based on interest, such as invitation concept development, donor stewardship, or drafting communications.
• Maintain a confidential, sensitive, and discrete approach to personal, sensitive, and organisational information.
• Be prepared to assist with various tasks as needed to support event delivery.

The role will involve:

• Helping Sense to raise vital funds to support people with complex needs, via gold standard Special Events.
• Representing the organisation in a positive professional manner, supporting the vision that no one is left out of life.

This role would suit you if you’re: 

• Experienced in working in an office environment or have or are working towards a qualification in event or project management.
• Able to demonstrate excellent written, and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail.
• Able to build good relationships and build rapport easily with a wide range of people.
• You have ideas of appropriate companies to make approaches to or have personal connections to potential high value prizes (desirable).
• Proficient in using a PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and comfortable with email/internet. Familiarity with AI systems is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and manage a variety of tasks effectively.
• Possesses a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrating respect for all individuals, their unique perspectives, and varied backgrounds (including but not limited to age, disability, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation).
• Motivated by Sense's vital work and driven by a desire to create a tangible difference for individuals with complex needs.

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone
