Job description

You have an understanding of homelessness, alcohol and health related issues, and experience of working with adults in an addictions, housing or social care setting? All you need is the perfect environment to put your skills to great use. Welcome to Aquarius as a Practitioner.

Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for three Practitioners to join their team. Solihull Integrated Addiction Service (SIAS) is a partnership between four organisations jointly responsible for the delivery of the drug, alcohol, homelessness and gambling services, in the Borough of Solihull. At The Core, we offer services for adults who use or are affected by substance use, homelessness and gambling.

This is an exciting post funded to develop and deliver a proactive engagement service to people at risk off offending and in order to prevent involvement in crime. The Team will be focused on delivering targeted support to women, 18-25 year olds, and offenders in order to encourage them into training, education and diversionary activities.

Your challenge? As a Practitioner you will be working specifically with clients to support the delivery of interventions to prevent crime. You will support people who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting in outreach and working within various locations to support clients in addressing their substance needs, finding accommodation and being able to live independently. The service covers support for clients under housing first as well as a more structured longer term floating support service.

We are looking for an energetic and confident self-starter, you have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse or housing and homeless field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you're used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. What’s more, you have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office.

In return, you can expect some great benefits, including 32 days' holiday, contributory pension scheme, employee assistance programme and childcare vouchers, plus exceptional professional development and training opportunities.

The starting salary for this post is £20,015.00 with potential progression up to £23,420.00 (under review) per annum.

There are three available posts. All three roles will be offered as fixed term contracts ending June 2022.

We are committed to increasing our diversity and we would welcome applications from those with lived experience and/or who are from a BAME background.

Closing Date for applications is 5th August 2021. (We reserve the right to close vacancies before the specified closing date, should a large number of applications be received).

So, get inspired and take the first steps towards a more fulfilling career.
