Oily Cart are looking for new Trustees and a Chair to join our Board, to champion, support and guide us on our mission to create ambitious and high-quality Sensory Theatre that all babies, children and young people can enjoy.
We recruit our board members for their specialist skills and knowledge. We value all kinds of knowledge, which you could have gained through your work or personal life. We welcome Deaf, disabled and / or neurodivergent applicants, those with lived experiences of disability (such as a parent, carer or sibling of a disabled person), those from the global majority and people of all genders. This is an unpaid, voluntary role, but our Access Officer (and access budget) will help to make our meetings accessible, and cover out-of-pocket expenses. We are looking for a volunteer who would like to play a role in building children’s confidence. Would you be interested in supporting children to improve their numeracy abilities? We are looking for a volunteer who understands children with specific needs particularly around attention and memory challenges. Through your support, encouragement and tutoring you will make a difference to the people you work with! Hestia provides holistic, one-to-one support in our refuges and the community. Our refuge services are for women and children, offering a safe place to stay and vital emotional and practical support.
Outside of our refuges, most of our support services are accessible by anyone who has experienced domestic abuse, including men.
In the last year, 3,855 women and children were supported by Hestia to recover from domestic abuse.
Anyone can experience domestic abuse, at any point in their life, regardless of their background, age, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation. However, it is a gendered crime, with women being three times more likely to be victims.
We help people understand what domestic abuse is and develop the knowledge, skills and tools they need to protect themselves, stay safe and leave a relationship, if and when they’re ready to do so.
What you will be doing
- To support children who are not confident with numeracy to develop these skills through tutoring sessions over a video call
- Engage in conversation, problem solving examples, maths based support
- To keep records of conversations and update the support worker on progress of sessions
The skills you need
- Interest in supporting children to develop their math skills. Background in teaching maths/numeracy is desirable
- Good communication skills
- Ability to provide a supportive and inclusive atmosphere
- A tutoring qualification is desirable but not essential
- Mathematics qualification is essential

- Organising events and actions in your local area
- These will include peaceful protests, public outreach, social meet-ups and leafleting.

- Growing a community of advocates by promoting your events and encouraging others to join you, bringing people together for the animals to create change

There is no set time commitment for this role, all we ask is that you can organise at least 1 event every 1-2 months. On average, it takes around 4-6 hours to deliver an event (including planning and delivery).

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Volunteer Social Media Content Producer to help us craft engaging, mission-driven content for our social media platforms. Key Responsibilities
As part of the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications team, key responsibilities include:

As a QA Reviewer at Roots Academy, you'll work closely with Regional Leads and the QA team to help maintain and raise the quality of teaching across our programmes. Your role is to support our instructors by regularly observing lessons, offering constructive feedback, and encouraging their continued growth and development.
Your input will help ensure that students benefit from lessons that are clear, engaging, and rooted in sound educational practice.
Key tasks
· Observe lessons via site visits or submitted video recordings throughout the semester.
· Use standardised forms to assess lesson quality and highlight key strengths and areas that could be improved.
· Offer honest and practical feedback, using real examples to guide instructors toward better practice.
· Work alongside Regional Leads to deliver feedback at set points in the semester and support instructor development conversations.
· Attend feedback meetings and take notes to track progress and follow-up actions.
· Recommend helpful activities for instructors, such as shadowing experienced colleagues, team teaching, or reviewing their own lessons.
· Keep track of instructors needing additional support by scheduling follow-up visits or reviewing new lesson recordings.

Time commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the local area the group to carry out this role.

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the Camden Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services.
