Location: Nottinghamshire - we hope our Trustees have a deep understanding of local people. Our Board meetings and AGM take place in person (with the exception of the January meeting which is online).

Responsibilities within the role:

• To ensure Age UK Notts is accountable 

• To ensure our purpose and work is carried out for the public benefit 

• To ensure compliance with our governance code and any relevant obligations

• To act in the best interests of the charity, and maintain the professional integrity of the charity, when dealing with stakeholders, other bodies and individuals

What is the time commitment? 

The charity holds four full board meetings per year in Nottingham, with each meeting lasting around 2 hours. Meetings take place quarterly on the third Thursday of October, January, April and July.

In addition, Trustees need to set aside a minimum of 2 hours reading time before each board meeting.

. The AGM follows the board meeting on the third Thursday of October, with the meeting lasting around 1.5 hours. In addition, a minimum of 1 hour reading time is required prior to the AGM.

• There may be specific occasions when a Trustee is required to attend an event to open/close it, such as our annual staff conference

• Get to know the charity’s services and infrastructure within the first 3 years/initial tenure of the post and continue to have contact with relevant departments during subsequent 3-year tenures. Feedback on service/infrastructure visits is a standard Board agenda item.

. The charity board also has a Finance & Audit Committee which has its own Terms of Reference and has meetings separate from the Full Board Meetings. The membership of this committee is determined by the Board

• Trustees serve a three-year term of office and can be re-elected to serve additional three-year terms

What training will you be given?

We offer a full induction programme and ongoing support from the charity, other Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team plus occasional external development.

The Trustee role is open to all those who are either a trained lawyer or who has a strong legal background and in addition, the Board of Trustees particularly welcomes experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Issues relating to work with, and for, older people or lived experience and potentially any of the following skills.

We are seeking two passionate and affective advocates for the arts to join Nottingham Playhouse’s Board of Trustees.

Awarded Theatre of the Year 2025 in The Stage awards, Nottingham Playhouse is one of the country’s leading producing theatres, creating work that’s bold, thrilling and proudly made in Nottingham. Our wide-reaching participation programmes create life-changing experiences for our community and we also support the next generation of theatre-makers in the East Midlands through our extensive artist development programme.

As a registered charity, all of the funds we raise help to ensure we’re reaching as many people as possible to give them new opportunities and create lasting memories.

We are now seeking two new Trustees to join our Board. To complement the specialisms of our current governance, we are particularly seeking applicants with specialisms in the following areas:

The Board meets six times a year in Nottingham, and each Trustee also attends at least one subgroup, which meet bimonthly or quarterly. Trustees are also expected to attend press nights for each in-house production and support other Nottingham Playhouse activities and Participation programmes whenever possible.

Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this post will provide support to the Schools, WASH and Solar projects implemented by the NGO. The successful candidate will work within a combined national and international team to assist in the development of projects, from initial planning stages to final evaluations.

Primary responsibilities include the writing of donor reports and proposals, providing additional support to the project team surrounding project management, and monitoring and evaluation. The role is predominantly office-based with some bush travel. The diversity of activities undertaken will provide a wide-ranging experience for an early career development professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development. It is essential that the post holder is able to work in English to a high standard and it would be desirable to have at least basic French. Candidates who do not meet these criteria will not be considered.

Terms and conditions: Voluntary with local monthly stipend towards accommodation and contribution to insurance of £650

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Write project reports, to a high standard of English, that clearly demonstrate the successes and challenges of the WASH and Education infrastructure projects, learning from the project and providing clear budgetary information

● Compile funding proposals based on past evaluation, team discussion, and international best practice in an engaging and professional manner

● Conduct internet searches and searches through SEED’s funder database for potential donors to fund projects

● Take a leading role in gathering statistics and ensure that all existing statistics relating to the projects are accurate

● Work alongside the Communications and Media Officer writing regular social media updates, blog posts, and website copy

● Support the development of projects that fulfill local needs and sit within the aims of SEED, taking into account research findings, contextual constraints, government objectives, and SEED’s previous experience

● Conduct research into international best practice with regard to Solar, Digital Learning, WASH and Education infrastructure programmes and take the lead in discussing these with the team

● Monitor and update project trackers according to project activities, ensuring the project is on track to meet project indicators and objectives

● Take an active role in project management meetings, leading these where appropriate

● Take an active part in international team meetings and supporting other members of the team

● Work with national staff in increasing their skills and capacity, providing mentoring or training where appropriate

● Assist in data collection and basic analysis where required, assisting the MEL Specialist in developing monitoring and evaluation tools, and completing MEL reports for projects

● Work alongside the Programme Manager and Head of Finance in developing and managing the budgets relating to projects

● Maintain a database of projects and funders alongside the UK team in London

● Form part of the team representing projects or SEED when required

● Liaise with the UK team in London ensuring clear communication at all times

● Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing, and anti-corruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are promoted at all times

● Complete other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Solar, WASH and Schools Project Coordinators, Programmes Manager, Head of Department, and Director of Programmes and Operations to further the aims and work of the organisation.

Person Specification

● Hold an undergraduate in or relating to WASH, international development, or have transferable skills or equivalent experience

● Minimum of 1-3 years’ professional experience in securing funding, project management, donor compliance, and donor reporting

● Demonstrate excellent writing skills, previous experience in grant-writing is an asset

● Demonstrate sound knowledge and keen interest in Environment and Sustainable Livelihoods, Community Health, WASH and Education Infrastructure, and their interface with international development; previous experience in WASH, Solar education, or community-based work would be an asset

● Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to SEED’s ethos and approach, and be a good ambassador for SEED at all times

● Have passion, curiosity, and motivation for the job and the ability to enthuse others

Following a review of our Board, we are looking for people who are committed to developing our services to the population of Derby City, South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire, Tamworth and surrounding areas. Practical Considerations

Evening Board Trustee meetings are held approximately every 12 weeks. We also hold sub-committees every 12 weeks. The total time commitment for a Trustee is at least 1 day per month; induction and training are provided, as is support from an experienced and knowledgeable Trustee and staff team. Trustees are not paid, but expenses are covered. A DBS (criminal records check) will be required.

Citizens Advice Mid Mercia is a charity created to serve our local community of over 600,000 people across Derby City, South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire, Tamworth and surrounding areas.

We provide information, advice, support and training on a wide range of subjects such as debt, consumer services, energy, family, work, housing, health, digital skills and homelessness. We are a growing organisation that provides a range of services from quick advice, generalist advice, specialist advice, statutory and none statutory health services as well as peer support and training.  We provide services in a variety of outreach locations and are also based in Swadlincote, Derby City, Burton and Tamworth. We provide telephone and face to face advice services for people who want advice on a wide range of issues.

We’re part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation empowering 12- to 20-year-olds through flying, adventure training, sports, and leadership development. 

West Mercian Wing supports over 900 cadets across 27 Squadrons in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, the Black Country, and overseas in Cyprus. 

Each squadron has a Civilian Welfare Committee, a team of trustees who support the squadron by overseeing governance, fundraising, and building community partnerships. Trustees are vital in ensuring squadrons can continue providing incredible opportunities for cadets.

What’s involved? 

Meetings are structured but friendly, typically every three months for around two hours. A typical agenda includes: 

• Updates from the Chairperson, Treasurer, and Squadron Commander 

• Funding requests and financial decisions 

• Future planning, upcoming events, and key priorities 

• Opportunities to contribute based on your skills and interests 

Beyond meetings, involvement is flexible depending on your availability and expertise. 

What we’re looking for 

We welcome all backgrounds and skill levels, but we’d particularly love to hear from those with experience in: 

• Fundraising 

• Governance & charity compliance 

• Corporate partnerships 

No military background or youth work experience is required—just enthusiasm, reliability, and a passion for making a difference! 

Opportunities for progression 

Trustees can take on leadership roles within their squadron, support squadrons at sector or wing level, or even contribute to regional and national RAF Air Cadets governance. Some trustees also transition into squadron volunteer roles, working directly with cadets. 

To join us, you’ll need to 

• Be 20 years or older 

• Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years 

• Attend an evening meeting every three months (varies by squadron) 

• Bring enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to support young people. 

Typical joining process: 

1. Submit an expression of interest. 

2. We’ll invite you to visit your chosen squadron to learn more. 

3. Complete a simple online application if invited. 

4. Undergo a DBS and basic security check. 

This process usually takes a few weeks, depending on availability and checks.

Our current context

West Dean is at a pivotal moment. Under the leadership of a new Chief Executive and refreshed senior team, we are addressing longstanding financial challenges and reshaping the organisation for the future.

A deficit reduction plan is being developed, with renewed focus on:

• Sharper strategic clarity
• Sustainable stewardship of our assets and estate

We are preserving what is unique and irreplaceable, while being rigorous about modern expectations of scale, impact, and performance.

As a Trustee, you will contribute to the governance, oversight, and strategic direction of the Edward James Foundation. You will work closely with the Board and Executive Team to ensure West Dean is governed responsibly, managed effectively, and delivering on its charitable purpose.

Who we are looking for

We are particularly keen to appoint Trustees with senior commercial or retail leadership experience, ideally from a large, complex organisation. This may include:

• National retail groups or membership organisations
• Visitor attractions or heritage organisations
• Consumer-facing brands with a values-led ethos
• Further Education and Higher Education

You may have held executive roles such as Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, or Commercial Director – or you may now be operating in a non-executive or portfolio capacity.

Crucially, you will bring:

Strong financial and operational judgement

• Experience of transformation or turnaround
• A focus on commercial performance and organisational impact
• Experience as a charity trustee or non-executive is strongly preferred. A connection to the arts, design, heritage, or education will be welcomed –  but is not essential.
