Job Title: Solicitor / Senior Caseworker

Contract: Permanent. Full time or part time.

Responsible To: Legal Services Director

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependant on qualifications and experience.

Location: An office base in Llandudno Junction, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and outreach work across Gwynedd and Ynys Mon.

About the role

North Wales Community Law is a charity established in 2023 that provides free legal advice to people in North Wales. We have a small team of caseworkers and we want to grow our team to enable us to support more people. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to our vision to make sure that everyone in North Wales has access to the services and expertise they need to uphold their rights, fight inequality and challenge injustice.

We are looking for a solicitor or experienced caseworker to provide specialist housing or family law casework and advice under the supervision of our Legal Services Director. Based in our offices in Llandudno Junction, the role will involve regular travel to community based outreach clinics in North Wales, particularly Gwynedd and Ynys Mon.

We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience of relevant Welsh housing legislation and qualified solicitors with experience of legally aided civil litigation.

Duties

• To provide legal advice and casework assistance and give appropriate advice and support to clients, managing your own caseload and making applications for public funding as required.
• To liaise with landlords’ and other parties’ representatives, solicitors, other agencies and groups as required.
• To ensure that all casework, advice, and assistance complies with the requirements of the organisation’s processes, accreditations and, where publicly funded, complies with the requirements of the Legal Aid Agency.
• To collate evidence and work in partnership with other advice providers locally and regionally to influence the development of policy and legislation in relation to housing and domestic abuse.
• To undertake outreach work, including liaising with local communities, delivering talks and presentations to groups, and visiting community settings as appropriate. Work from various locations as reasonably required.
• To inform and participate in our public legal education work, to promote North Wales Community Law and a rights-respecting culture in north Wales.
• To actively engage with local community groups and organisations, bringing together our experience, skills and knowledge with that of others, sharing learning wherever possible.
• To prepare reports on your own work for the information of the Trustee Board, funders and other stakeholders, as required.
• To actively contribute to internal meetings, including cascading learning.
• To attend appropriate training courses and maintain readership of relevant publications to maintain and develop professional expertise.
• To support your own and team’s wellbeing and encourage a positive working environment.
• To travel to other locations for the purposes of giving advice, advocacy or for training.
• To carry out a share of administrative tasks including those detailed in the organisation’s Quality Manual.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience of delivering housing or family law advice and complex casework - advising and supporting clients through the legal system
• Ability to manage a busy caseload, working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
• Experience of legal aid processes, meeting financial targets and time recording requirements using case management systems.
• Good organisational, prioritising and time management skills.
• Experience of team and multi-agency working.
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with the organisation’s client group.
• Commitment to sharing learning, skills and knowledge.
• An understanding of and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and its relevance to legal advice.
• Strong commitment to North Wales Community Law’s vision, mission and values.
• Excellent IT skills.

Desirable

• Experience of practicing housing law in Wales
• Experience of delivering advice in other areas of social welfare law

• Sound understanding of the SRA Professional Conduct Rules, SQM standards and Solicitor’s Accounts Rules and ability to apply them as necessary
• Experience of legal aid billing (including certificated work), and an understanding of optimising legal aid income

About This Role

This is an exciting new opportunity to be part of a new project within our Wraparound Service in the UK. As Psychological Therapist, key aspects of your role will be:

• Facilitation of Reflective Practice for residential staff to help support therapeutically informed practice, staff resilience and emotional wellbeing.
• Direct support to Children in Care and Care Leavers to improve their emotional health and well-being, and to provide any additional support identified as needed by statutory services to those with mental health needs.
• Working with children, residential carers and social workers where care arrangements are at risk of breaking down.
• Consultative support and training to foster carers and residential staff where there are children in placement who have complex needs.
• Support the development of the UK Therapeutic Service to help meet the needs of staff and young people across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have:

• Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Therapy)
• A minimum of three years working directly with children, young people and families
• Experience of dealing with crisis situations and working with emergency services
• A minimum of one years’ experience of delivering therapeutic interventions
• Previous experience of delivering therapeutic interventions to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Experience of working in a multi-agency setting
• Knowledge of UK Legislative framework
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge/Experience of Care Planning and Care Management
• Ability to manage caseload and to work on own initiative
• Responsive to deadlines

The Deputy Contract Manager is responsible for the operational management of our specialist customer focused support services across the service. The Role

The objectives of the Communications and Campaigns team are to increase the public profiles of Rethink Mental Illness and Mental Health UK, mobilise public support to bring about change and ensure that all colleagues are aware of, bought into and engaged in contributing to the values and direction of the charities. 

A natural storyteller, you will have a talent for creating shortform video content that engages key audiences across our social media platforms. By generating ideas and making them happen, sourcing contributors, shooting and editing footage, you will monitor the performance of posts and proactively incorporate best practice to ensure that content is well received by audiences, and that the charities’ presence on its social media channels grows.

You will regularly collaborate with colleagues across both charities, the other founding charities and key partners to create compelling and inspiring content.

With an eye for detail, you will use your project management skills to analyse the performance of social media content, refining and improving content through iteration.

You will also have experience of:

Job description

The Operations Coordinator is one of four core staff team members at Zero Carbon Guildford (ZCG), and leads on facilities and event management, organisational processes, and reporting. In the event of a premises move, they will also lead the charity through the physical move. This is a critical role to the smooth running of the charity, helping create and communicate systems that staff and volunteers use to deliver our objectives more efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

Building and facilities management:

• Maintaining the effective operation and presentation of the charity’s premises in support of our goals. This includes ensuring building compliance, upkeep and maintenance, and ensuring volunteers have appropriate training and guidance to use the space. 

• In the event of moving premises, manage both contractual arrangements and the physical moving process.

Support ZCG’s strategy to establish a more permanent physical space, by engaging with new developments in Guildford and council officers.

Events management:

• Manage events and room booking system, track sign up numbers, and ensure events are managed well by staff and volunteers.

• Support volunteers and staff to curate events programme, and ensure online events listings are effective, good quality and up to date. 

KPI tracking and reporting against strategy and grant requirements:

• Maintaining an efficient KPI tracking and reporting system, including for ZCG’s own environmental KPIs, working with relevant staff and volunteers to keep records up to date. 

• Pulling together reports against KPIs for grants, annual reports and monthly Trustee / Ops updates. 

Supporting tracking of grant spending and funding pots available for operations.

IT / technical support and system administration (emails, Google Drives, Slack, volunteer management, CRM and other systems needed for projects).

Sit on the Operations Panel and contribute to activities (group of staff, volunteers and Trustees with responsibility for day-to-day operations). 

Any other responsibilities as agreed with ZCG staff team and Trustees. 

Person specification

• Well-organised person comfortable with data and able to lead process / project / operations management to support Zero Carbon Guildford’s goals and values.

• Motivation and passion to support the goals, values and activities of the charity through carrying out this role, acting as part of a close working team of staff and volunteers.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Experience of or compatible skills for buildings/facilities management (eg some or all of maintenance, risk management, health and safety, working with contractors, DIY skills).

About Unfold

Unfold is an established local charity supporting young people and families to reach their potential by identifying and achieving their goals through mentoring. We support families and young people in Westminster and its neighbouring boroughs through mentoring programmes and peer support groups for women with children.

For over 35 years, we have provided support to families and young people at risk of social exclusion. Working with trained and DBS-checked volunteers, we offer mentoring to women and children, building independence and helping people get where they want to be. We’ve also developed specialised programmes for refugees, children excluded from school, those with care experience, and families facing homelessness.

About the Role

The Programme Manager is responsible for the development, management and delivery of Unfold’s Broadening Horizons mentoring programme and peer support groups for children and young people aged 10–25.

The role includes managing a team of four (Senior Programme Officers and Programme Officers), ensuring effective planning and delivery of mentoring programmes in line with agreed strategies and workplans. You will oversee the development of specialised programmes, including mentoring for refugees, young people seeking asylum, those excluded from mainstream education, and those with care experience.

The Programme Manager will monitor performance, manage resources, ensure compliance with Unfold’s policies and procedures, and report regularly to the Deputy CEO and Board of Trustees. You will prepare reports and case studies, analyse monitoring data, revise training materials, and use findings to inform programme improvement.

Partnership management is a key element of the role, including maintaining and developing relationships with local authorities, schools, funders, and community organisations to enhance programme delivery. The postholder will also lead the Youth Advisory Council, supporting members to contribute to Unfold’s strategy and direction.

The Role

To undertake all aspects of warehouse duties, ensuring effective, safe and efficient distribution of food each day. You will have responsibility for coordination of our food stock, from goods-in to picking, dispatch and stock rotation and will be expected to drive vans, and Forklift Trucks.

As the Community Food Member champion you will be responsible for liaising with our community food members. This will include duties such as managing collection schedules and liaising with the member services team to resolve any day-to-day queries.

Working closely with the wider team and volunteers, you will also support the monitoring and utilisation of warehouse space, stock, deliveries and collections to ensure food reaches its destination amongst our members safely, on time and in full.

Key Responsibilities

1.  Operations 

• Undertake all warehouse duties, ensuring effective, safe and efficient coordination and distribution and of food
• Work closely with the member services team to ensure all lines of communication to CFMs are recorded and day to day issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• To work to performance indicators so that stock is accurate, and delivery routes are efficient to allow the organisation to grow
• To ensure that all work areas – both inside and outside the warehouse - are clean, organised and safe to work in
• Follow all H&S and Food Safety standards set out in the FareShare policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all our colleagues & visitors, and the safe receipt of food by all our members.
• Undertake van/Forklift Truck driving duties to ensure effective, efficient timely and safe delivery & collection of food, in line with compliance standards
• Ensuring great customer service in delivery
• Loading and unloading, sorting for, and following deliveries, ensuring safe lifting, and carrying
• Refer van “issues”, in a timely manner to Transport Department to ensure minimum disruption to service delivery
• Undertake all checks and procedures from pre-delivery to post-delivery
• Ensure lock up, parking and storage of vans and equipment following completion of deliveries

2.   Volunteer Communication & Co-ordination  

• Work closely with the volunteer teams a diverse group ranging from regular and long-term, volunteers, placements (e.g. Job Centre) to business people having just a 1-day volunteering experience – to ensure that all shift duties are covered, and teams work effectively
• Provide leadership and guidance to volunteers, ensuring they follow all policies and procedures, high standards of accuracy are maintained and their volunteer experience with FSM is a satisfying one.
• Work closely with the Warehouse Manager, Volunteer Manager & wider staff team with the recruitment, training and development of volunteers in the context of our commitment to Equal Opportunities
• Participate in end of day reviews and planning for the next day’s activities

3.  Standards

• Ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and other standards applicable to the building, vehicles, refrigeration equipment, our staff and volunteers. carrying out risk assessments as required
• Uphold and develop high quality customer care towards & communication with our Community Food Members (CFMs)

4.   Administration

• Ensure that food movements are accurately logged on the electronic stock management system
• Carry out depot administration, including running reports, correspondence with member groups, updating volunteer records
• Ensure that relevant administrative matters are dealt with in a timely way, for instance food safety traces & customer complaints.

Women & Families VAWG Specialist Service 

The Claudia Jones Organisation (CJ0) is seeking a Service Manager for our Women and Families, VAWG Specialist Service to ensure the best outcomes for the women and families we support. 

CJO’s Women and Families VAWG Service aims to provide a cohesive family and specialist support for vulnerable women and families of Caribbean/African heritage experiencing violence and present with complex layering of issues. We assist women and families through 1-1 advocacy, counselling, and therapeutic group support to increase wellbeing, reduce risk and increase safety.  The service provides social and learning opportunities for women and families alongside meeting their immediate needs.

Job:Women & Families VAWG Specialist Service Manager

Location:London     Salary:£40,000 per year, pro rata    Part Time/3 days weekly   Contract:  5 years

The Role

To manage and develop the delivery of the CJO VAWG service for African heritage women and families escaping violence and its impact through advocacy and therapeutic services.  You will be responsible for managing your team of domestic violence workers whilst working synergistically with our clinical lead and social work support to achieve the best outcomes for the women and families who access our service.

As a member of the senior management team, you will have a strategic focus and lead on safeguarding to protect women and their children. You will have both an internal and external focus of influence with local and national stakeholders including statutory services and funders to ensure a co-ordinated community response and service for African heritage women and families.

About You

As a strong communicator, you will bring your understanding and know how to support and navigate the criminal justice systems in relation to VAWG.  Able to work independently and prioritise a busy workload.  An effective communicator who is innovative with experience of managing, growing, and developing your team.  Excellent team player willing to get involved and support service users and staff, no matter the task or activity.

Key Objectives Within the Overall Purpose of the Post:   

The management of CJOs VAWG women and family’s specialist service ensuring it meets the needs of African Heritage women and families, is contract compliant with the service specification and the charity’s policies and procedures.

1. To lead and effectively manage the finance in line with the grant and annual budget.
2. Lead on and participate in national, local discussions, consultation, research, monitoring and evaluation, needs assessment, collaboration, networks, to sustain and grow the women and family specialist service and any other activity relevant to deliver the service.
3. Represent the service and organisation at both internal and external meetings and within multi-agency partnerships.
4. Lead on and facilitate monitoring and evaluation activities, which supports the voices of service user and their data, to inform legislation, policy, and practice, identifying synergies across the organisation’s work as well as opportunities to produce and share learning.
5. Facilitate a range of training for; professionals, service users, staff, volunteers, external audience to improve practice and service delivery.
6. Communications - directly produce, facilitate publicity and marketing material for the service, appropriately using social media e-leaflets, paper booklets etc to increase knowledge, awareness, skills, and the impact of VAWG on the lives of women and families.
7. Ensure written language is to good quality standard including emails and all other record keeping and documentation required of CJOs work.
8. Ensure that the service is delivered within safeguarding practice and safe standards as per our quality mark.

Monitoring & Evaluation

• Contribute towards and/or write comprehensive reports that may include data, narratives, and case studies as required by funders, commissioners, CJO and others.
• Oversee the management of the Oasis database undertaking quarterly audits and monthly monitoring of data collection for performance management of the service.
• Dip sample and audit case files as held on Oasis, ensuring staff are recording information and delivering services in line with Imkaan and other quality standards.
• Oversee the consistent use of the ‘Safe Lives’ risk assessment tool, alongside other developed risk mitigation templates.
• Ensure staff appropriately represent women and advocate on their behalf when dealing with outside agencies such as the Housing department, Police, DSS, Solicitors, Social Services, Health Professionals, and all other relevant agencies.
• Document monitoring ensure that it is provided in the agreed and acceptable formats for  the VAWG women and Families Specialist Service  using standard templates.

Management of Service Finance

• Work closely with the finance team to oversee the income and expenditure of the service in line with all policies and procedures of the organisation, contract, policies and procedures relevant to CJOs funded work.  
• Ensure that small grants woman receive are appropriate working closely with finance, social work students and support worker(s) or volunteer.
• Take full ownership of strategic fundraising for the service, identifying funding sources and making direct applications, alongside the Director and fundraising team.  

Wellbeing

• Ensure the service is delivered within CJOs Community based approach to Wellbeing and that a therapeutic approach is embedded in your practice.
• Attend regular clinical supervision
• Ensure that your staff team attend regular clinical supervision.
• Lead and manage the Thinking Space facilitator and bi-weekly debriefs alongside working synergistically with CJOs Clinical Lead.

Operational

• Along with your team, to always work in the best interest of CJO and to avoid any action that may bring CJO and or its activities into disrepute.
• To undertake any other duty commensurate with the position of Service Lead and as required by your line manager.
• To engage in one’s own performance management through training and development as required.
• As a member of the senior management team work to promote CJO’s purpose, values, and our influence through evidence-based solutions to improving the lives of vulnerable women and their family experiencing VAWG/trauma and to act-up/step in the absence of members of the senior management team or staff.
• Regularly supervise, appraise, and support the development of staff and volunteers addressing challenges and implement necessary support measures to improve performance with staff, external contractors, and agencies.
• Participate in regular supervision, induction, training, and team meetings.

• Develop appropriate partnerships, collaborations, and communications to enable our family support and gender-based violence services to be seen as a leader in its field.
• To be the lead registered officer for CJSM and Safeguarding Lead 
• On occasions to work on a Saturday where time in lieu will be given.
