Job Purpose

The Director of Fundraising & Partnerships is accountable for leading the vision, strategy and performance of Habitat GB’s fundraising, partnerships, engagement and resource mobilisation activity.

This role combines senior‑level engagement and income generation leadership with organisational and strategic responsibility. The postholder will design and deliver ambitious, sustainable income and partnership strategies; strengthen Habitat GB’s profile and positioning; and lead a high‑performing, values‑led team.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Fundraising & Partnerships plays a key role in organisational leadership, transformation, and long‑term sustainability, working collaboratively across Habitat GB, the international Habitat network and with a wide range of external partners. This role has 4 direct reports, and an overall team of 10.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Strategic Fundraising, Partnerships & Engagement

• Design, deliver and adapt an integrated multi‑year fundraising and partnerships strategy, setting ambitious and achievable targets that increase income, engagement and impact.
• Lead the organisation’s approach to partnerships, philanthropy, fundraising and resource mobilisation across all non-institutional income streams, including:
  • Trusts and foundations (UK and international)
  • Corporate partnerships and strategic alliances
  • High‑net‑worth individuals and philanthropic supporters
  • Blended funding, including institutional and investment‑linked income where appropriate
• Shape and deliver Habitat GB’s positioning as a credible, innovative and impactful development and housing partner.
• Lead the development and delivery of communication and engagement strategies that increase profile, visibility, audience engagement and supporter commitment.
• Draw on learning from the wider Habitat network and sector trends to inform strategy, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with fundraising regulation, ethical standards, safeguarding and best practice, including oversight of relevant policies, due diligence and risk.

Income Management, Forecasting & Performance

•  Hold accountability for all non-institutional fundraising income targets and performance against agreed budgets, with responsibility for year-on- year growth and diversification of income streams.
• Set clear quality standards, KPIs and expectations to promote accountability, ownership and high performance within the team.
• Oversee active management of a robust, strategically aligned prospect and partnership pipeline.
• Work collaboratively with the Director of Impact & Influence to align opportunities, approaches and targets across non-institutional and institutional partnerships and fundraising pipelines.
• Work closely with the Director of Finance, Operations & Compliance on income forecasting, financial planning, reporting and budget management.
• Ensure high-quality impact, financial and narrative reporting to funders, partners, the SLT and Trustees.

Senior Partnerships, Stewardship & External Profile

•  Lead and model relationship-based development with priority prospects, partners and influencers.
• Act as senior relationship lead for key high value corporate partners, donors and funders, ensuring excellent stewardship and long‑term engagement.
• Support and enhance relationship building with High‑Net‑Worth Individuals, Trusts and Foundations.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop compelling proposals, propositions and reports across funding opportunities, positioning Habitat GB as a partner of choice across all priority audiences.
• Raise the profile and positioning of HFHGB through public engagement, media opportunities, online presence and attendance at relevant networks and events.
• Respond strategically to external opportunities and challenges, protecting and enhancing Habitat GB’s reputation and impact.

Leadership & Management of the Fundraising & Partnerships Team

•  Lead, inspire and develop a high performing, ambitious team focussed on fundraising, partnerships, communications and brand marketing.
• Provide clear direction, prioritisation and performance management through regular 1‑to‑1s, objective setting, feedback and development.
• Ensure effective planning, resourcing and deployment of team capacity and budget.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive and learning led team culture, role‑modelling Habitat GB’s values and behaviours.

Organisational & Executive Leadership

•  Act as a collaborative senior leader, supporting the National Director in delivering HFHGB’s strategy and vision.
• Actively shape and influence organisational strategy, ensuring income generation and partnerships are fully integrated into strategic planning and decision making.
• Contribute to organisational wide leadership on performance, productivity, risk, diligence and transformation.
• Work effectively across teams and functions to deliver integrated, organisation wide outcomes.
• Support Trustees in fulfilling their governance, ambassadorial and fundraising responsibilities.
• Represent Habitat GB at national and international meetings, forums and events, deputising for the National Director where required.

We are looking for someone with:

•  Substantial senior level experience in fundraising, development and partnership leadership.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering ambitious income strategies.
• Expert knowledge of fundraising best practice, partnership development and donor stewardship.
• Significant experience of leading and developing high performing teams.

Church Army is entering a new chapter - with fresh leadership, a developing strategy and a real opportunity for someone to help shape how fundraising and engagement looks going forward. The beauty of this reimagined role is that it's both strategic and hands-on, with chance to learn and develop, potentially adding new strings to your fundraising bow.

The role holds responsibility for individual giving, legacies and trusts fundraising, but we don't expect you to come with it all. You'll be given the time, space and tools to develop any skills and experience you don't currently have.

What we definitely need is someone with a strong foundation in Individual Giving - that means the ability to lead on campaigns and product development, as well as confidently manage pipeline planning.

You'll take creative control and responsibility for delivering effective multi-channel fundraising appeals, including key moments in the campaign calendar, such as the Christmas appeal. Using insight, storytelling and data to deepen relationships and grow income, you'll develop meaningful supporter journeys that recruit, retain and inspire generosity. Working closely with colleagues across communications, operations and programmes, you'll help strengthen collaboration across teams, ensuring day-to-day activity and processes support the shared goal of bringing Church Army's mission to life.

You'll also line manage the Individual Giving Officer, providing guidance and support, as well as supervising and supporting the Trusts Consultant and Legacy Consultant. This could be a perfect development opportunity for someone looking to build or grow their leadership experience.
 

About you
 

• You're already an experienced Individual Giving fundraiser with a passion and talent for exceptional storytelling, able to write compelling copy that inspires people to take action.
• You can demonstrate previous experience managing campaigns or projects end-to-end and feel confident working with data and insight to optimise results.
• You either already see yourself as a leader or have ambition to be one, with the potential and capability to lead by example and provide guidance and mentorships to others.

The Pepper Foundation is a local charity funding children’s hospice care at home, specialised play and family days for children living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. 

The Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser will be joining Pepper at an exciting time as we launch our new three-year fundraising strategy. Backed by committed investment and with full Board approval, we are delighted to be growing the charity to deliver sustainable income that directly supports local children and families with hospice care in the comfort of their own homes.

Working closely with the Head of Trusts & Foundations, you will play a pivotal role in increasing income from trusts and foundations by developing and managing a strong pipeline of funders, securing new grants, and building long-term relationships that lead to increased and multi-year support. We’re looking for a talented Challenge Events Fundraiser to join our team in delivering our ambitious events strategy. This role is vital as we continue to develop incredible relationships with new and existing supporters helping them to network, influence and fundraise via challenge events. 

Through excellent supporter care and stewardship, the Challenge Events Fundraiser is required to increase income for our challenge events portfolio. Working with the Challenge Events Manager, the post holder will deliver the events strategy as well as contribute to its ongoing development.

To succeed in this role you’ll need to:
• Develop and grow networks of event supporters, volunteers and community organisations to increase participation in fundraising events and generate sustainable income for the charity.
• Deliver an effective supporter journey, providing high-quality stewardship which motivates and enables supporters to complete successful fundraising activities within their communities.
• Support the delivery of the charity’s event fundraising strategy, working closely with the Challenge Events Manager to achieve agreed income targets.
• Plan, coordinate and evaluate key challenge events within the fundraising calendar (e.g. Abseil, London Marathon, Great Birmingham Run), ensuring successful delivery and supporter experience.
• Act as a visible ambassador for the charity’s events programme, building and maintaining strong relationships with supporters, community groups and partners.
• Ensure all fundraising activity is delivered in line with relevant legislation, including UK charity law and Fundraising Regulator guidance.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the charity and wider organisation, providing support and cover where required to ensure the effective delivery of fundraising activities.
• Work with internal teams to develop and deliver engaging fundraising products and events, ensuring effective donor stewardship and supporter engagement.
• Monitor performance against agreed targets, identifying opportunities and potential risks and provide regular income and KPI reports.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records, including the use of Salesforce and contribute to the development of effective internal processe

Key responsibilities:

1. Main Purpose of the Job

• To ensure the panel reflects AvMA’s values and that where possible the panel is managed in line with our strategic plan.

• To manage and oversee the operation of the specialist AvMA clinical negligence panel to include ensuring the qualifying requirements for panel applicants are relevant and up to date and reflect any important medical and legal developments.

• The assessment of panel applications and interviewing of Applicants. Convening meetings of the panel committee, drafting agendas for those meetings and identifying issues to be discussed.

• Identify ways for the AvMA panel application process to become more streamlined, efficient and supportive of lawyers making panel applications. To develop the process to ensure it is fit for purpose, relevant and continues to meet the needs of the public.

• Ensuring the AvMA database of panel membership and special interests is kept up to date. Giving informal advice to solicitors enquiring about panel membership requirements, liaising and meeting with firms as required.

• Travelling and attending key networking events, including AvMA’s three-day (2 overnight stays) annual conference and AvMA annual panel meeting (usually held end Nov, beginning December), engaging with potential AvMA panel applicants, promoting the benefits of accreditation and the junior scheme (Certificates Competence Scheme (CCS)), keeping up to date with medical and legal developments. Speaking at panel meetings and generally to promote the panel.

• Working with the conference department to identify relevant topics for panel meetings and conference events.

• To improve on the current re-accreditation process to make it more streamlined and user friendly for applicants.

• To ensure relevant data from panel applications is captured on the CRM. Regular analysis of panel data, findings shared with AvMA senior leadership team and more widely where appropriate.

• To pursue AvMA’s EDI strategy by considering ways in which the panel can be developed to ensure panel members are as ethnically diverse as possible.

• To liaise with AvMA’s conference department to advise on any training which may be required to strengthen AvMA panel members knowledge and information base.

• To work with the Director Medico Legal services in assessing applications for Certificate of Competence Scheme (CCS) for juniors. To update and work on the Certificates Competence Scheme including organising applicant feedback to ensure this scheme continues to be fit for purpose. To inform and work with panel applicant mentors in strengthening the scheme.

• To deliver on administrative requirements such as quarterly reports for trustees, working with AvMA’s Service Delivery Quality and Outreach Committee (SDQOC) as required to update on continued improvement of AvMA Panel Accreditation Scheme.

• Dealing with queries raised by AvMA Panel applicants and/or juniors who may have had their applications rejected.

• Ensuring AvMA panel template letters and documents are updated

• From time to time speaking publicly about requirements for AvMA panel membership, common pitfalls and how to overcome them as well as other matters relating to panel.

• To consider client complaints about panel members to determine whether the threshold for disciplinary action under AvMA’s Panel procedures is met.

• To manage disciplinary procedure for AvMA Panel members, identify and liaise with adjudicators, prepare documentation, set up the hearing.

• To manage appeals against rejection of an application for accreditation/reaccreditation, liaise with adjudicators.

• To keep on top of any government, regulatory or other policy changes which may affect the way in which patients can access justice, recover damages and seek redress for adverse clinical outcomes, as well as any improvements or impediments to lawyers undertaking this work.

• To develop and grow the AvMA panel accreditation and Certificates Competence scheme membership; to identify cost efficiencies and maximum engagement with AvMA accredited panel solicitors.

• Any other duties associated with the role.

2. Skills and Experience

Administration of the AvMA Panel

The bulk of the administration and management tasks do not require specialist skills; however, assistance is provided by the PA to the CEO when required.

AvMA has a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) driven computer system throughout the organisation, the introduction has been phased and the applicant should be confident enough with sufficient IT skills to onboard the new system. The CRM works with Microsoft Dynamics 365 a data driven software solution which is intended to manage, track and store information. AvMA considers IT to be an ongoing commitment and the new panel accreditation manager should be willing to consider ways in which AvMA can maximise the impact of the CRM to improve services and data collection on key issues identified from panel related activities.

Tasks such as updating and preparing new panel application documents and report forms will require medical and legal input, the panel application interview process will involve discussions about topical medico legal issues and for this reason the post would suit someone who has a legal background, ideally qualified as a solicitor or barrister, preferably with clinical negligence accreditation. A a medical background would be helpful.

Assessment of new applications, interviews and dealing with correspondence

The Panel Accreditation Manager is primarily responsible for the assessment of new panel accreditation applications.

The role of Panel Accreditation Manager would suit someone who has practised as a claimant clinical negligence lawyer who is looking to draw on their expertise and experience in a new role.The successful applicant should be confident in assessing former peers and colleagues in a fair and impartial way.

The nature of this work is such that the Panel Accreditation Manager can come into possession of sensitive information, discretion and respecting confidentiality are key qualities for this role. 

Reaccreditations

Reaccreditation assessments are done internally by the Panel Accreditation Manager, occasionally assistance can be provided by members of the internal panel assessment team.

AvMA aims to make reaccreditations more straightforward for practitioners and the new appointee will be expected to liaise with the profession to understand where they consider the biggest hurdles to reaccreditation lie and to consider how these can be overcome without compromising standards. 

AvMA receives a minimum of 15 applications for reaccreditation per annum, however numbers are usually considerably higher, up to 30 per annum.It is thought that the reaccreditation process could be designed to be more streamlined and user friendly for both the applicant and in house.

Other AvMA Panel assessments

In addition to assessing AvMA panel applications and reaccreditations the Panel Accreditation Manager will need to assess applications from accredited panel members who have changed firms.

Change of firm applications tend to be straightforward if the applicant has been on the panel for some time and is going to a firm where there is another AvMA panel member but the process is more in depth for those going to a firm which does not have another AvMA panel member.  The Panel Application Manager needs to be confident that the new firm can meet the minimum standards and supervision requirements required of a first time panel application. 

There are about 5 applications for changes of firm rising to a maximum of 10 per annum. 

Interim Reviews

From time to time first time applicants may demonstrate that they largely meet the core criteria for AvMA Panel membership but there may be some areas that require improvement.In those cases, AvMA can award the applicant AvMA panel status subject to a review sometime later.The Panel Accreditation Manager is responsible for following up that review and examining progress made.The review is an opportunity to identify if the applicant has succeeded in strengthening the areas of weakness identified.If they have not, they risk losing their AvMA panel status entirely. 

There are about 3 interim reviews per annum, currently not exceeding 6. 

3. Other

• To support the Events Department’s quality initiatives and to suggest continuing improvements where needs arise.

• To undertake other duties commensurate with the post as may be required.

Do you want to provide critical systems and logistical support for our growing and ambitious education charity? The Finance and Operations Coordinator is responsible for managing our day-to-day financial systems, overseeing the running of our database and website, and providing administrative support for the general running of the organisation, including project managing our community and fundraising events. You will provide support to the Executive Director and other members of the team to ensure the smooth running of Teach for Tomorrow.

Your Key Duties and Accountabilities

Finance Administration

• Place, track and process orders, invoices, expenses and financial transactions

• Maintain Quickbooks with all transactions, provide reports as required and maintain the interface between CiviCRM and Quickbooks

• Set up payments for authorisation in the bank account as required

• Generate contracts as required

• Maintain relationships with suppliers, venues and partners

• Manage the interface with the company pension provider and pensions regulator, making payments as required and ensuring all statutory obligations are met

Database, Website and Knowledge Management

• Maintain the organisation database and provide reports and information as required by team members

• Liaise with the Data Protection Officer to ensure that all statutory requirements are met in relation to data protection and UK GDPR

Operational Coordination and Administration

• Manage external vendor relationships, in particular - but not exclusively - website and database providers, HR and Health and Safety providers, Safeguarding support, IT support services, Accountant and Auditors, and memberships of organisations such as the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)

• Maintain filing systems online and in hard copy (where required)

• Maintain policies and procedure documents, ensuring updates are made as required and updates are provided for reporting to board

• Be first point of contact for general enquiries and monitor all general communication channels

• Provide general administration support as required

Events 

• Work with the Chief Executive and other staff to ensure successful planning and execution of fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events and all related activities. Responsibilities include: managing invitation process, tracking registrations and gifts, running and circulating reports

• Provide logistical support of the events on the day

Perform other related duties as required by position.

There will be an occasional requirement to work outside normal hours to support evening events – with a late start and late finish – but if this is expected, advance notice will be given.

There have been a number of fundraising campaigns, including a £1m urgent capital appeal after the Second World War and a £1.4m campaign to fund the Vale ‘student village’ in the 1960s. In 2015 we closed the Circles of Influence Campaign, raising £193 million, making it the largest HE fundraising campaign outside Oxbridge and London.

The University has global reach, including several partnerships with other leading universities around the world, and is grounded in its local community, having opened the first fully comprehensive University secondary school in the country in 2015. We are an ambitious and successful research-intensive University (one of the top 100 research-led universities globally) and have produced 10 Nobel Prize winners, including three who received their awards in 2016. Academics here are exploring the impact of climate change, helping to address global health epidemics, and changing our understanding of Shakespeare. Our students come from nearly 150 countries and our flagship outreach programmes mean that almost 25% of our student population come from disadvantaged backgrounds: one of the highest proportions in the UK. 

DARO exists to support this academic and student community by engaging, inspiring, and celebrating alumni, individuals, and charitable funders who give their money, time, and networks to support the University’s strategic priorities. The Office, which is comprised of five teams, is focused on fundraising and volunteering from alumni, organisations and individuals who are passionate about changing lives, through funding various research trials, supporting student bursaries, mentoring students, and providing internships.

The University of Birmingham is recruiting a Corporate Philanthropy Manager, an exciting role that will join us in our ambitious ‘Birmingham in Action’ campaign and help us to grow our philanthropic income. You will manage a portfolio of corporate partners and prospects and will work with colleagues across the University to develop a pipeline of significant philanthropic gifts across priority themes and projects, with the opportunity to shape these based on your fundraising experience. This role is a great opportunity to further develop your skills and will play a vital role in delivering projects to change lives locally, nationally and internationally.

A key member of the Development and Alumni Relations Office’s (DARO) Charitable Partnerships team, you will identify, create and manage corporate philanthropic partnerships with local, national and global businesses. You will have an enthusiasm for building relationships, the skill to interact with high-level corporate professionals and academics, along with the ability to translate complex information into a compelling case for support.

The Corporate Philanthropy Manager will be responsible for:

• Developing and strengthening relationships with key current corporate funders to the University to grow philanthropic income.
• Identifying and building relationships with new corporate funders with the opportunity to raise five and six figure gifts.
• Managing a pipeline of short, medium and long-term funding applications and relationships to enable year-on-year corporate philanthropy income growth.
• Oversight of key campaign programmes.
• Building close working relationships with academics, alongside other University colleagues, to find information needed to write clear and compelling proposals on existing and new areas of research, that aligns with the strategic priorities of corporate funders.
• Build effective, co-ordinated, working relationships with a range of external stakeholders.
• Managing the whole donor journey of a corporate funder, from identification to acknowledgement and stewardship.
• Meeting reporting objectives of funders and ensuring an excellent experience for funders.
• Efficiently use the Customer Relationship Management system to record and report on activity.
• Be responsible for adhering to relevant fundraising regulation and current data legislation in the UK and in target markets whilst ensuring fundraising is ethical and that due diligence is undertaken as necessary.
• Understanding the breadth of the University and appreciating the differences of each College.
• Understanding the context of our work in relation to the wider operations of the University.
• Fosters a fair and equitable workplace for all staff.

 Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

• Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications). Where no equivalent qualification is held, significant practical relevant experience and expertise in a similar role will be required.
• Evidence of writing motivational and persuasive reports or proposals – this could be demonstrated through performance in full time, part time or voluntary roles.
• The ability to understand and communicate complex expressions of academic vision to non-academic philanthropic supporters.
