What is a Caseworker?

Caseworkers visit clients to work out what type of support they need. You will listen without judgement to assess and provide tailored support to help those serving, who have served and their families to navigate life in and beyond military service. Some examples of support are securing funding for special equipment for someone with a disability, adaptions to a property so an older client can remain at home or funds for a rental deposit. Caseworkers also sign-post clients onto specialist local services for advice on benefits, housing, mental health, debt, finding work etc.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan. We’d love the general public to understand what we do and how they can help us.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

Volunteer Caseworkers are the lifeblood of SSAFA, supporting a growing number of people in need of financial, practical, and emotional support. Clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like Iraq or Afghanistan.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

The essential part of the role is visiting clients, so you will need access to a vehicle or another way to travel to meet clients at home or in a care home setting. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but you can complete the administration part of the role from home as long as you have access to IT equipment and the internet.

What would you be doing?

· Contacting beneficiaries and arranging to meet them at a mutually convenient time.

· Meeting beneficiaries and completing a form to assess their circumstances, using good communication skills, empathy and understanding.

· Sign-posting clients onto local services providing specialist advice.

· Applying for funding on the behalf of the beneficiary through a specific process and system  

· Arranging for the purchase of goods and services

· Keeping the beneficiary informed of their case progress.

· Liaise with the branch and regional office, regarding your availability.

· Keeping up to date with training and SSAFA news so that you are best able to support clients.

· Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer, or fundraiser.

· Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA

· Adhering to SSAFAs policies and procedures at all times, including safeguarding, volunteering policy, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, data protection and confidentiality.

What training and support would you receive?

· Role specific training to prepare you for your voluntary role – confidentiality and boundaries, personal safety, caseworker training, and caseworker IT system training. The caseworker training takes 3 days and a further half a day for the other training.

· Mandatory on-line training modules to complete at home, so you are up to date on how to keep clients, their families safe and personal information safe.

· Access to a range additional e-learning courses as well as local opportunities for your personal and professional development.

· Local induction including assigning a person from the team who will be your main point of contact.

· Regular opportunities to meet and share best practice with other caseworkers.

· Range of support from central and regional volunteer operations team.

· Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses

· Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

What are we looking for?

· Friendly and approachable with good listening skills, patience, and a positive attitude.

· Good communication skills both written and verbally.

· Respectful and non-judgemental approach with beneficiaries, their family, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues

· Willingness and ability to use IT systems for initial and on-going training and to enter cases on the Casework Management System. Willingness and ability to send and receive emails – you will receive your own SSAFA email address which you will be required to use when exercising your role.

· Ability to make enquires on behalf of beneficiaries by phone, email, letter or by filling in forms.

· Ability to keep within boundaries of the role with regards to friendship or giving advice

· Reliable, prompt and trustworthy.

· Access to public transport or a car to travel to appointments with clients.

A bit about this role...

Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our Collection Box Volunteers help us raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

What can I expect to be doing?

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

• Researching local shops, pubs and businesses to place Collection Boxes
• Delivering Collection Boxes to locations
• Recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters
• Collecting and replacing Collection boxes when they're full
• Sharing your passion for cat welfare and promoting the work of Cats Protection

How much time is expected of me?

Our Collection Tin Volunteer role is very flexible and can be completed at your own pace, independently with our dedicated support.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. What we're looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic, creative and organised people to be an NSPCC Collection Volunteer in your local community. Around 90 per cent of our income comes from our supporters and we couldn't continue doing what we do without them. That means, our collection volunteers play a important part in rallying people together to raise vital funds which help to protect children and prevent abuse.

What you'll do

You'll be working together with the rest of the team to raise awareness and funds. you'll be collecting for the vital work the NSPCC does, engaging with the public- promoting a positive image for the NSPCC!

We appreciate that work, family and friends come first and, with that in mind, this role offers flexibility to fit in with your lifestyle.

• Distribute collection boxes to locations such as cafes, shops, bars, restaurants and small businesses in your local area
• Replace full boxes, counting and banking funds, liaising with your local community team and organising receipts and thank you cards for supporters
• Represent NSPCC in a professional manner
• Share news about our work in the local community and help promote fundraising events and initiatives

What you'll get

We'll support you with advice, skills and tools to help you fundraise and spread the word about the NSPCC. You'll be given a designated point of contact and we'll cover reasonable mileage expenses. You'll learn more about how you're helping to protect children in your local area and across the UK.

Do you want to join our movement and defend the right to a safe home? We’re looking for someone who can lead a team of volunteers at events in the community to help us raise money and awareness. The housing emergency hurts everyone. The fight to end it starts here!

The main thing we need you to do is help us fundraise. You’ll be vital to our fundraising efforts for the Winter Appeal by holding collection buckets in public spaces. Your support is not only crucial to our fundraising efforts, but it’s also opportunity to have fun, meet new people and experience some wonderful community spirit while contributing towards our mission. 

You’ll be supporting our bucket collection by helping us to create an energetic and friendly atmosphere to gather donations. You will:

• Support and coordinate the volunteer team on the day at events.

• Deposit cash into Shelter bank account at the end of the event or pass over to Shelter staff member

To enable you to take part in this opportunity we will: 

• Provide you with relevant policies, induction, training and information

• Refund any out-of-pocket expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer expenses policy

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical volunteer to support our data-driven decision-making and fundraising efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys researching, organising information, and using data to tell a meaningful story — especially within a creative, community-focused arts environment.

You will help us collect, interpret, and present data that demonstrates our impact to funders, partners, and stakeholders. You’ll also contribute to researching grant opportunities, supporting funding bids, and strengthening our ability to secure financial resources for future programmes and accessible literary initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in gathering data related to audience engagement, workshop participation, reach, and impact

• Organise and present data clearly (charts, reports, summaries, insights)

• Contribute to the development of evidence-based funding bids and grant applications

• Research new funding sources including grants, trusts, donors, and corporate partners

Trustee needed for Faith in Action Homelessness Project. We are seeking a Trustee to join our committed Board working to end homelessness in Merton.

About Us: FiA runs a twice weekly drop in for homeless and vulnerably housed people and a Winter Night Shelter which works in collaboration with faith groups including a Mosque, a Synagogue, a Hindu Temple and Christian churches to provide overnight accommodation and support to find long term housing solutions.

Our Small Team consists of a Manager, a Winter nightshelter co-ordinator and seven part time staff.  The Trustee team is a very hands on group - many are volunteers at the night shelter or drop in and it is a very committed and passionate team.

We are looking for three new trustees to make our board up to 12. 

The Trustee role

This role involves more than just attending meetings.  We are responsible for:

Setting the strategic direction of the charity

Ensuring tranparency and accountablity

Taking specific areas of responsibility - leading on fundraising, or staff recruitment, or governance or communication and PR for the charity.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuatls who can lead on the following areas:

1. Fundraising - especially developing partnerships with local businesses

2. Communications - including managing our strategy on social media and community engagement

3, Governance - supporting the development of policies and procedures

4. HR - offering advice on recruitment and management of staff

Finding funding for an organisation dedicated to women’s empowerment, development, human rights and tourism is hard to come by. If you are up to the challenge, then we’d love to have you come and support our search for funds for our innovative and exciting projects.

Equality in Tourism is a very small charity focused on gender, tourism and development.  We are looking for someone with experience, particularly with institutional and/or trust funding, or with corporate, individual or event fundraising experience, and who is able to give us a few hours a week. We would like you to take a lead on researching possible opportunities and writing one or more funding applications for us, both for our innovative projects and our core work.
