Job description

Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre/Rape Crisis South London

Helpline Coordinator (Maternity cover)

Hours: Full time

Contract: 12 months

Rape Crisis South London (RASASC) has been running the Rape Crisis National Helpline since 1985 and has a reputation for excellence. The helpline is open 365 days a year to women and girls from 13 years old who have survived any form of sexual violence. We offer specialised confidential emotional support and referral information to organisations around the U.K.,  playing a vital role in ensuring survivors of sexual violence receive the help and support they deserve.

We are looking for someone to join our passionate all woman organisation to provide maternity cover for our Helpline Coordinator. The successful candidate will be confident in leading a team of Helpline volunteers, be able to manage the day to day operation of the Helpline, provide statistics to funders and support the training and development of new volunteers to the Helpline.

You should have a sound understanding of violence against women and girls, be able to represent the organisation to outside agencies, assist in the recruitment and accredited training of volunteers, monitor and evaluate the Helpline, liaise with other departments in our committed organisation and be part of the movement that is Rape Crisis.

We would like you to have excellent organisational and leadership skills as well as being efficient and empathic and able to work on the Helpline on occasions as well as a firm belief that violence against women and girls can be ended.

We believe too many women have had to be silent for too long about the abuse perpetrated against them.  We understand that after such silence it can be difficult to speak up at all, to find the words or to believe that anyone will listen. The helpline is here to support survivors to help them find their road to recovery.

The position is available from December 2020 to December 2021.

Closing date:  30th October 2020 at 5pm.

Interviews at the beginning of November.
