BVSC is looking for a Grassroots Development Officer to work with small, often informal voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across Bexley. This role offers hands-on support to grassroots groups delivering vital services designed and led by the communities they serve, particularly those facing health and social inequalities.

The post-holder will provide practical guidance on governance, funding, safeguarding, sustainability, and other organisational development needs. You will help groups strengthen networks, increase visibility, and overcome barriers to growth, supporting them to deliver even greater impact.

This role focuses on organisations working with young people, older residents, minority ethnic (global majority) and migrant communities, people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and communities in the north of the borough where grassroots activity is most needed.

Key areas of work include:

• Identifying: Engaging with grassroots groups to understand their services, users, and development needs.
• Connecting: Building relationships and establishing a network of micro VCSEs to encourage peer support and knowledge sharing.
•  Developing: Offering tailored capacity-building support, including advice on governance, funding, communications, coordination, and premises, and coordinating grant rounds.
•  Promoting: Supporting recognition of grassroots groups by health partners and the wider community, boosting their visibility and impact.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer to join the Legal and Governance team.

In particular, we are particularly interested to hear from lawyers that have significant experience either in the procurement of health services and NHS contracts, or in the governance of charities (and company secretarial work).

The Role

Reporting to the Associate Director of Legal and Governance, the Legal and Governance Business Partner will lead on the provision of support to the charity’s staff and volunteers on all legal and governance matters.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Advising on legal issues relating to the charity’s activities, including reviewing a variety of contracts, such as fundraising contracts and contracts for goods and services.
• Advising on the legal aspects of tendering for commissioned services from NHS bodies and local authorities, including advising on procurement matters and NHS Model contracts.
• Advising on partnerships with other organisations to achieve the objects of the charity.
• Advising the CEO, Executive Directors and Trustees on governance matters, including charity law and company law; drafting policies, terms of reference and other governance documents, and correspondence with regulators.
• Maintaining the charity’s risk register and arranging appropriate insurance cover.

About You

You will have:

• A valid practising certificate as a solicitor/barrister and 4 years’ minimum post qualification experience, preferably including relevant experience advising not for profit organisations.
• A demonstrable interest in the charity sector.
• Good communication skills, and an ability to translate complex legal matters into easily understood legal advice.
• Excellent prioritisation skills.

The role and its impact

This is a part-time CEO role providing hands-on leadership so CCE can deliver projects well, support volunteers, and build strong partnerships. Working with the Board, you will help move projects from early-stage development through to installation and reporting.

About the role

We are hiring in our Grants team which is part of the wider Development Department at ClientEarth. As Grants Officer you will work in our Grants Team to manage a portfolio of grants that fund our organisation’s work, with a focus on managing a portfolio of grants from trusts, foundations, and other statutory and institutional funders.

• Manage a portfolio of grants, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and timelines
• Coordinate key grant management processes including: Go/No-Go, due diligence, funding agreement review, grant kick off and grant management meetings, narrative and financial reporting and renewals. 
• Deliver compelling, impactful and timely proposals and reports, and broker the relationship between programmes and the funder
• Maintain excellent relationships with funders through timely communications in relation to the work they support

Business Operations Assistant

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

About the role

This is a great opportunity for someone at an early stage of their career who is looking to build experience across operations, HR, governance and project support within a supportive charity environment.

As Business Operations Assistant, you will provide hands-on administrative and coordination support across the organisation. You will work closely with colleagues in Business Operations and across Tommy’s, gaining exposure to a wide range of activities including office coordination, HR processes, governance record-keeping, project administration and basic finance administration such as processing invoices and raising purchase orders.

You will be supported to learn new systems, build confidence and develop practical, transferable skills, while playing an important role in keeping the organisation running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing

Operations administration

• Processing incoming post alongside the data team

• Responding to general enquiries via phone and email, signposting as appropriate

• Providing cover and support for shared external mailboxes, including data protection and accounts

• Delivering general office administration, including filing, data entry, ordering office supplies and managing office equipment

• Supporting financial administration, including raising purchase orders, coordinating invoices for payment and reconciling credit card statements

• Supporting the Office Manager with health and safety compliance

• Assisting with internal meetings and events

• Supporting the COO with administrative tasks as required

• Handling confidential information responsibly and in line with GDPR requirements

Governance support

• Providing administrative support for governance policies, procedures and processes

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date Trustee records, documents and registers

HR & People support

• Supporting the upkeep of HR processes, guidance and tools

• Helping to maintain HR templates, checklists and the HR SharePoint folder

• Assisting with improving HR workflows and identifying opportunities to streamline administration

• Providing coordination and administrative support to the HR Lead and wider organisation in delivering the People Plan

Project administration

• Providing administrative support to the office refurbishment project, including coordinating with suppliers, the project team and staff

• Supporting a range of Business Operations projects, including meeting coordination, supplier liaison and finance administration

About you

You don’t need to have done all of this before. We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and keen to learn, with a genuine interest in building experience in operations, HR or office-based roles.

You will bring:

• Some experience in an administrative, office or support role (paid, voluntary or placement)

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• A friendly, approachable and professional communication style

• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage your time effectively

The Multiple System Atrophy Trust (MSA Trust) is the UK and Eire’s leading national charity offering vital support to people affected by MSA – a terminal neurodegenerative disease. 

About the Role

To lead on the Trust’s Policy and Communications work. To ensure our strategy and work in this area is led by the specific needs of people affected by MSA. This will require effective contact between the Trust and people affected by MSA, a range of health and care professionals; in order to develop their engagement in a professional and supportive way. To be an ambassador for change in wider society, working in the best interests of people affected by MSA. To develop and ensure effective external communications and dialogue with people affected by MSA and facilitate positive collaboration with other relevant agencies and policymakers. To co-ordinate marketing and clear messaging to key stakeholders.

To promote the development of this element of work within the MSA Trust, which may include future line management responsibility as the work develops.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the CEO, internal teams, Services Committee, and other colleagues to set and deliver an integrated Policy and External Communications strategy for the MSA Trust. 
• Be responsible for the development and delivery of an operational plan with targets and be accountable for the budget in this area.
• Lead on policy and campaigning work, ensuring priorities reflect the views of people with MSA.
• Be responsible for the Trust’s external communications and messaging.  
• Be responsible for ensuring that the development and output of our communications and policy work are inclusive and reflect the diversity of our MSA community.
• Play a key role in the development and effectiveness of national and local voluntary networks that support shared ambitions for the neurology sector.
• Play a key role in the production of MSA News – the Trust’s flagship publication for members.
• Work closely with colleagues to ensure our services are compliant with relevant policies, procedures and relevant legislative frameworks.
• Create positive relationships with MSA Trust colleagues, Trustees, and external networks to share knowledge, insight and evidence.
