Job description

Moorfields Eye Charity’s grant making programmes support Moorfields Eye Hospital and its academic partner, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology to deliver world-leading eye research, education and care to make a difference to the lives of people with sight loss.

We’re looking to recruit a Grants Assistant to our dynamic and growing grants and research team who are responsible for ensuring the charity has robust grant making mechanisms to determine best use of charitable funding together with evaluating activities and projects funded by the charity.

About the role

As the Grants Assistant, you will help to deliver grants administration and operations in the grants and research team at Moorfields Eye Charity.

You will provide administrative support to the director of grants and research and the wider team as appropriate. The post holder will support the team's grants management of the entire life cycle of grant making, from pre to post award, support communication of grant funding activities, website updates and take responsibility for a small portfolio of grants. In addition, this role will also support a number of exciting projects planned within the team over the next 18 months such as the implementation of an impact framework.

About you

You will have an interest in grant making in the charity sector.  The successful candidate will have previous administrative experience including diary management, servicing meetings and experience developing effective administrative processes and systems. You will be highly collaborative and enjoy embracing a range of duties as well as be able to confidently develop professional working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Organisational skills, a methodical approach to working are key to the success of this post as is excellent attention to detail.

Please note this role is being offered on a 18 months fixed term contract.
