Your internship role within Concordis will be shaped by what is happening on Concordis programmes during the six months you spend with the organisation and by your interests, experience and abilities.  As a team, we rely on each member to contribute their skills to our work and we will look to make the most of what you have to offer, while at the same time giving you opportunities to develop new skills and to challenge yourself.

You may be asked to carry out research and analysis into countries in which we are active, guided by our research managers and following our research methodology.  Your role may include assisting with the development of project proposals, monitoring international news outlets and researching potential new project areas.  You may be asked to help with monitoring and evaluating our programmes, working with the programme managers and programme officers to understand and capture results from our programme activities.

You may also be required to give practical, logistical and administrative support to the programme team to which you are allocated, including helping to set up data collection systems, analysing the data collected, preparing and sharing reports, liaising with project partners, preparing for dialogue or training sessions, translating peacebuilding material and taking notes at internal and external meetings.

You will attend team meetings and programme update meetings where you will hear from the Director of Programmes and other members of the programme teams, giving you the chance to understand what is happening on the programmes and to ask questions about any aspect of peacebuilding. 

You will be asked to research sources of funding and may be involved in drafting applications for funding, including generating ideas for new programmes that meet the needs of communities and donors.

You may be required to attend external meetings, seminars and conferences and to contribute to website and social media content.  You will be given opportunities and time to attend virtual training on peacebuilding and related topics.  You will be asked to be part of the Security Monitoring rota whereby we take turns to track the movements of the in-field staff.  This does include occasional essential weekend working.

You may also be asked to assist with HR processes such as evaluating applicant CVs and be given the opportunity to attend interviews as an observer/interviewer.

The internships are designed to give you concrete experience in research, programme management and funding within the international development sector. 

The role will require you to work virtually with our UK team, with programme teams in one or more of the countries in which Concordis operates and with your fellow interns.  If you live in or are visiting London, we will be delighted to welcome you to join some team meetings in person.

We are seeking an experienced Events & Community Fundraising Officer (Volunteer) to join our Fundraising team on an unpaid, volunteer basis. This will be remote support, unpaid volunteering on average 8 hours or 1 day per week to drive funding for our International WASH projects.

EQUAL AQUA is an award-winning NGO providing equal access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Uganda. Equal Aqua is managed by an international team of 30+ volunteers, based mainly in the UK and Uganda, but spanning over 10 countries.We are looking to expand and diversify our team of volunteers – seeking candidates with knowledge and skills in various fields, and a deep passion for our cause. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Join our team as a Volunteer Events & Community Fundraising Officer, working alongside the Fundraising Manager to develop and expand our community engagement and events portfolio. Play a pivotal role in creating innovative fundraising products, fostering relationships within our local communities, and supporting key fundraising initiatives to drive income growth and supporter engagement. 

ROLE & RESPONSBILITIES  

• Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager to design and implement community and events strategies, including the development of new fundraising products and campaigns. 

• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, corporate partners, and individual fundraisers to generate new income streams. 

• Develop engaging supporter journeys to inspire memorable experiences, encourage repeat contributions, and deepen supporter loyalty. 

• Support the team in planning and delivering special events, including the annual fundraiser concert, Water Wheel, and other high-profile fundraising activities. 

• Secure new corporate partnerships through sponsorships, Charity of the Year and other award programs, and collaborative fundraising initiatives. 

• Lead and coordinate supporter-led fundraising activities, fostering volunteer involvement and building a vibrant, diverse supporter community aligned with our mission. 

• Assist with planning, promotion, and execution of both EA-organized and third-party fundraising events. 

KEY REQUIREMENTS 

ESSENTIAL 

Experience: 

• Demonstrated success in achieving or surpassing fundraising or sales targets within the charity, nonprofit, or commercial sectors. 

• Proven experience working in supporter-focused environments. 

• Solid project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. 

• Experience working within high-performing teams, including remote working arrangements. 

Skills: 

• Excellent networking and relationship management capabilities. 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities. 

• Proficiency in IT tools such as Windows, MS Office, and fundraising databases, particularly Raiser’s Edge (or similar). 

• Exceptional time management and prioritization skills. 

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of regional and corporate fundraising practices.

About EduSpots

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-oriented UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips grassroots voluntary educators (named ‘Catalysts’) to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of a world in which communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating with over 400 local voluntary community educators and actors – named ‘Catalysts’ – who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have global relevance. 

Our Ghana-based team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for Catalysts, which are increasingly facilitated by the EduSpots app: the Ignite, Catalyse and Inspire Mentoring Programmes. These enable the Catalysts to lead EduKidz (early years education), DigLit (digital literacy), EcoSTEM (STEM and environmental education), and Ignite Equity (gender equity) clubs for learners typically aged 3-16, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 learners of all ages annually. 

We are in an exciting period of our development, having more than doubled our income, programme breadth and reach in the two years, with a recent independent evaluation by Expectation State offering further evidence in support of our model’s outcomes. We have recently been selected for two accelerator programmes, who are supporting us as we consider the scaling potential of our model.

We won the Tes International Award in 2018 and the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022, and we were recently selected as a finalist for the 2023 Their World Scale-Up Innovation Prize. In 2021, our Founder was a Finalist in UNESCO-backed The Varkey Foundation’s $1 million Global Teacher Prize.

Role Overview

As Fundraising Intern, you will:

• Promote our Future of Education LEGO Challenge with schools, students, community groups, universities, and corporates.
• Manage relationships with all those involved in the campaign.
• Offering support with fundraising strategies and EduSpots materials.
• Track income through the challenge, managing a campaign database.
• Support online informational sessions, involving Programmes Team members.
• Supporting the wider fundraising team with research, communications and administrative tasks.

You’ll join a supportive, impact-driven team committed to educational transformation through grassroots leadership and collaboration. You will join organisational professional development sessions and gain direct insight into the running of EduSpots’ community-driven network for future-ready education!

Personal specification

• A strong understanding of how to involve young people in social change projects, with some experience in fundraising.
• Strong communication skills – e.g. written and verbal in English with skills in relationship development and management.
• Strong IT skills – e.g. ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Drive, social media, etc.
• An ability to work highly independently with minimal support, with the proactivity to reach out to team members when necessary
• A genuine interest in learning about education and international development, and communications.

Media & Press Relations Build relationships with international media outlets to secure coverage of the organization’s work and campaigns. Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and statements.

Reputation & Brand Management Ensure consistent, positive representation of the organization across all communication channels.

Storytelling & Impact Communication Develop compelling human-interest stories, success profiles, and campaign highlights for public sharing. Work with program teams to translate impact data into relatable, inspiring messages.

Content & Messaging Strategy Create and manage high-quality content (articles, speeches, newsletters) that aligns with the organization’s mission and tone. Assist in shaping talking points for spokespersons and leadership.

Event & Campaign Promotion Support promotion of events, fundraising campaigns, and community activities through strategic communication efforts. Coordinate media coverage and documentation

Do you want to help prevent breast cancer? Are you a highly engaged senior communications professional with charity or not-for-profit governance experience, strong networks and want to use your connections and expertise to help a fantastic charity build their profile, impact and authority in the field of breast cancer prevention? 

We are looking for individuals from the private, third, or voluntary sectors with a strong ability to bring connections and influence to the charity, to join the board of trustees. You have a thorough understanding of what good charity governance looks like, time to commit and you have a deep interest in and are keen to promote breast cancer prevention.

Specifically, we are looking for someone who has leadership experience and expertise in strategic communications, branding and marketing.

Breast Cancer UK’s vision is a world where everyone is empowered to reduce their breast cancer risk.  Our mission is to lead a movement to empower individuals, advance scientific research and reshape policy to reduce breast cancer risk for all. 

We are the only UK breast cancer charity focused entirely on the primary prevention of breast cancer by funding animal-free scientific research into the causes of breast cancer, campaigning to reduce risk, using traditional and digital channels to raise awareness. Today it is estimated that 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lives but at least 30% breast cancers are thought to be preventable. 

Our research and advocacy work focuses on the environmental and chemical causes of breast cancer. Our education programme and advice include all preventable risk factors.

Our strategic Plan (2025-2028) is a bold and forward-looking roadmap that aims to drive lasting change for breast cancer prevention through significantly increasing the visibility of our cause by expanding our research and collaborations, expanding access to prevention education across the UK and mobilising support behind a new policy approach that prioritises prevention.The trustee role is critical in supporting these outcomes. 

Breast Cancer UK’s annual income has grown from £107,000 (31.3.2014) to £1.5M (31.3.2024). Our new strategic plan sets out our ambition to expand further.

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

RSBC are looking for volunteers to get involved with our range of online clubs for children and young people with visual impairments. 

Role: Online Activities Volunteer

Commitment: Currently, sessions are run both during the week (mostly in the afternoon) and at weekends (usually on a Saturday). Activity volunteering is a flexible commitment, and you will be able to sign up for the session you like and when you have time. It really is up to you and your availability.

What will I be doing?

Our amazing Activity Volunteers play a key role in supporting blind children and young people to take part in a variety of activities. These range from sports, creative (singing, performing, art), audiobook club and day trips. Our activities are designed for blind young people to meet new friends, gain confidence, learn new skills/sports, and become more independent. The skills you have developed in your career and personal life will be invaluable to our young people. 

Key Tasks and Main Duties 

Online activities: 

• support the session timetable 

• facilitate the communication and social interaction between participants 

• encourage members of the group to participate and share their opinions 

Who are you?

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked before as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow RSBC’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for RSBC. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of sight problems. 

What’s in it for me?

RSBC offers the opportunity to gain insight and experience into helping others with sight issues. As part of your volunteering, you will have access to Sighted Guide training, a training session designed to help you understand the issues and complexities of sight problems and give you the ability to help others navigate the world.

RSBC also provides paid expenses for your volunteering experience, you can claim up to £10 per day.

RSBC can also provide references and impact reports from your volunteering if required. 

You will be fully supported in your role by our team of expert and compassionate service delivery team.

Develop or utilise your skills – As a volunteer, you’ll be given plenty of opportunities to develop new skills or use those you already have, which can help to build your CV, boost your employability and give you a sense of satisfaction.

Safeguarding:

Due to the nature of the role, before you can begin volunteering with RSBC there are some required safeguarding checks which will need to be completed.

All RSBC volunteers undergo an Enhanced DBS check (paid for by RSBC) and must provide two references.

All volunteers will also be booked onto safeguarding training.

RSBC risk assesses all its services and activities.
