Role Description:

The Safe Space is a local hub for anyone who feels they are nearing crisis point. We are here to listen to what you need and work with you to help. These might be strategies to help you cope in the moment, a range of activities that we provide free of charge, resources to take away or connect you with practical local services. As a part of this, we are looking for volunteers to offer support to individuals who may access our crisis drop-in services. This includes a variety of tasks, which include greeting individuals, offering a cup of tea and biscuits, general reception duties, supporting 1:1 session, completing administrative tasks and generally keeping clients engaged and safe on our premises.

We are looking for someone who

• Has lived experience of mental health/social crisis
• Preferably have had experience working with people who experience poor mental health
• Are comfortable with co-producing and facilitating peer led workshops where applicable if required.
• Are willing to actively participate with clients 1:1 and in group settings
• Are able to take on any ad hoc admin/support responsibilities within the Safe Space Team

Time commitment and expenses:

• Minimum 6 months commitment, offer I day per week during our opening hours of 2pm–10pm.  Please indicate your preferred volunteering day(s) plus preferred site (H&F, Ealing or Hounslow) on your application.
• We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role 
• Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed where required.

Disability Snowsport UK’s vision is of mountains and ski slopes free from barriers, where disabled people can learn and take part alongside family, friends and peers.

Our Mission 

To make snowsport accessible for everyone; regardless of disability, injury or experience. We work to remove the barriers to taking part so that disabled children and adults, and their families can enjoy the freedom, independence and the physical and wellbeing benefits of skiing and snowboarding, and related activities.

We do this by:  

• Providing expert adaptive teaching for individuals, families and groups across the UK 

• Providing holidays and activities in the UK and worldwide  

• Providing social and recreational skiing groups 

• Working with governing bodies, training organisations and partners to widen access, increase awareness and share knowledge 

The Role 

The role of the Trustee is to ensure the activities of the charity support its purpose and serve the interests of its beneficiaries. Trustees provide strategic guidance, governance and oversight of management, ensuring the organisation is accountable and acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the CEO. They are there to protect the charities assets both physical and reputational. They make sure resources are managed responsibly and that the charity is run sustainably.  

Currently an active board of 12, we are forward planning for routine board member rotation in 2025. To complement our existing board and support our strategic direction, we are looking for up to four additional trustees to bring knowledge, skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

Lived Experience 

• This may include personal experience, of either being disabled or supporting someone with a disability e.g. a family member, caring for someone with a disability or working with people with disabilities.

• You will have an understanding of issues and barriers around participation, access and inclusion and their impact on health and wellbeing.  An understanding of the social model of disability is beneficial. 

Strategic Organisational Development / HR  

• Experience across the range of HR activity including recruitment, performance management, reward, organisation culture and change management.

• Experience of organisation design and development including board and senior leadership development and succession planning. 

• Board or committee experience with capability to take on the role of Chair of the Nomination, Remuneration and Governance Committee at a future date.

Legal Experience  

• Professional experience within a legal field. Experience in supporting organisations to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations and governing documents. 

• Ability to offer guidance and support compliance with charity law in the UK and other contractual obligations. 

In addition to the above areas, we are looking for someone with skills to take on the role of company secretary and would be interested in hearing from individuals who feel they could take up this role.

We are looking for a new Company Board Director to help guide Climate Emergency UK over the course of the next 2 years.

Climate Emergency UK is at a exciting time, since starting just over 5 years ago we have have successfully launched the first ever complete UK assessment of coucil climate action, with the Council Climate Action Scorecards, and are about to launch the second one in June 2025. We are halfway through delivering our first 3 year strategy, with focusses on how we can advocate at a national level for further and faster council climate action, sustain ourselves as an organisation and keep up our crucial local work with councils and residents via the Scorecards, training and other projects. 

We need support from our Board to further the sustainability of the organisation. 

We are particularly looking for Directors with either/or any of the following experience:

• Experience of local government, either as a councillor, officer or other

• Landing national media coverage for projects and campaigns and previous work with national and regional news outlets

• Experience of effective fundraising for small organisations

 About the opportunity

This role involves supporting with events in your local area throughout the year.

There is no minimum commitment for the role. Times will vary depending on the requirements of the event. You will be provided with an event brief beforehand to ensure you are happy with the requirements for that activity.

What we require from you

• Age 18 or over
• Access to your own transport with flexibility to visit various locations
• Polite, confident, and personable manner
• Excellent customer service skills

• Facilitate a weekly online meditation session in a small group
• Plan each session and identify any items needed for the Meditation sessions.
• Lead on the logistics and set up of the session alongside the staff team.

Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC) is a small, independent rare disease charity competing for essential resources within an extremely competitive arena.

Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for leukodystrophy patients and their families. In order to fulfil our charitable objectives we need to increase and sustain our corporate income levels.

The Lyric’s Nomination Committee is seeking a new Chair for Lyric Hammersmith Enterprises Ltd, who will also serve as a Trustee of Lyric. The subsidiary is governed by a non-executive Board of Directors, chaired by this role.  Lyric Hammersmith Enterprises is responsible the Lyric’s non-charitable trading operations including catering, hires and events. Our commercial income is critical to helping the Lyric achieve its artistic and charitable objectives.

We are looking for a Chair with influence and authority, strategic thinking and sound judgement with particular expertise in commercial operations and income generation. You will need to share a passion for our artistic work and our commitment to being an equal, diverse, inclusive and environmentally sustainable organisation.

This role will serve as a Trustee to the charity, joining the existing Board for an initial three-year term. Trustees support the Chair, Lorraine Heggessey, and offer their expertise and guidance to the Executive Team.

Heartwood House is a dynamic education charity that supports young people who self-exclude from school and are missing education because of bullying or other trauma. They provide both an academic and therapeutic programme to enable their students to get back on track and reconnect with society. Heartwood House has been delivering services in NW London for 20 years.  They have supported many students in their return to mainstream education, further education and employment.  They work with many local authorities such as Harrow, Hillingdon, Hertfordshire, Brent, Ealing, Barnet, Camden and many more.

Heartwood House (based in Harrow) is now looking to strengthen its Board and we are seeking a Company Secretary and named Trustee for Governance and Law – you will bring insight and understanding of charity law, Charity Commission legal regulations, Company Legislation and best practice. 

Trustees have a duty to ensure that the charity is well run, solvent, legally compliant, and working towards the charitable purpose for which it was established, and Trustee roles are an important and a highly rewarding way to support an organisation. Please note that Trustee roles are unremunerated voluntary positions, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid.

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language
• Be inclusive and welcoming to people of all religious faiths and none, referring people to other faith communities as appropriate
• Working alongside support staff, volunteers & local agencies
• Maintaining records of support and feeding back concerns about Resident welfare to Staff/Line Manager.
• Attend regular volunteer team meetings
• Being proactive in seeking spiritual and emotional support for your own benefit as this is a challenging role.
