Job description

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Advocacy professional to support our ambitious global efforts to promote the reduction of animal consumption in line with our 5 Pros (Pro-Health, Environment, Animals, Justice, and Taste). The ideal candidate is a leader with an outgoing, positive, and professional attitude, who has ample experience of developing strategic campaign plans, and managing large networks. This is a new position as ProVeg expands its policy and campaign efforts, which will expand our public education, corporate outreach, and UN, EU and national policy initiatives. It will require flexibility and adaptability as political realities, public opinions, and business priorities shift.

The Head of Campaigns and Partnerships will manage three staff members directly, and provide strategic guidance to, and support for, the nine ProVeg country communication managers.

The candidate will be responsible for representing ProVeg externally, including networking with and influencing policy and decision-makers as a member of the European Alliance for Plant-based Food (EAPF). The Head of Campaigns and Partnerships will oversee campaigns, and develop processes for, and manage, major partnerships with other nonprofits and corporate partners.

The two priority areas are the ‘Diet Change not Climate Change’ campaign, which will enter a new phase following COP26, and the Food-based Dietary Guidelines project, aimed at improving nutrition guidelines around the world. Other campaigns include, but are not limited to:

About us

ProVeg International is a food awareness organisation working to transform the global food system by replacing animal-based products with plant-based and cultured alternatives. We work with decision-making bodies, companies, investors, the media, and the general public to help the world transition to a society and economy that are less reliant on animal agriculture and more sustainable for all humans, animals, and our planet. We have offices in nine countries across four continents and are active around the world. ProVeg has a permanent observer status with the UNFCCC, special consultative status with ECOSOC, is accredited for UNEA, and has received the United Nations’ Momentum for Change Award.

We base our strategy on empirically-based evidence whenever possible. We seek to stay abreast of the latest research to inform our strategic considerations and outreach materials. We evaluate all of our programs to make sure we are allocating our resources in the best way to reach our goal.

ProVeg fosters a culture in which challenges become opportunities to learn and thrive. Because changing the global food system is a huge undertaking, we are looking for new team members who are pragmatic and professional and who are willing to step out of their comfort zone when needed. Critical problem-solving skills, team spirit, and creativity are all vital to accomplishing our ambitious goals.
