About the role
This is an exciting and pivotal leadership role at the heart of Kinship’s digital transformation. You’ll lead a talented and ambitious team to deliver innovative digital products, accessible content, and outstanding user experiences that support kinship carers and strengthen our organisational impact.
Kinship is growing rapidly. We are expanding our reach and digital capabilities, and our digital platforms are central to this change. In 2024, we launched a new website that brings together all our content and services under one roof, and introduced a new Kinship Compass postcode search feature. This is a national tool that helps kinship carers find and navigate local and national support, like their kinship local offer, local peer support groups and training.
Alongside this, we have been developing a new AI-powered tool to help kinship carers get the information they need quickly and accurately, 24/7. This role will lead the evolution of these digital products, ensuring they are safe, ethical, data-driven and continuously improved to meet the needs of kinship carers.
You’ll play a key role in the Department for Education funded national Training and Support Service, helping kinship carers easily access and book high-quality training. You’ll also oversee the content design in collaboration with internal and external subject experts and kinship carers themselves.
This is a role for a digital leader who is both strategic and hands-on. You should be able to balance innovation with delivery, and big-picture thinking with strong governance. You’ll champion inclusive, accessible and co-produced design, helping Kinship use digital to deliver more impact, insight and empowerment for kinship families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide digital leadership across the organisation, increasing capability, confidence and collaboration.

Continue to develop and deliver Kinship’s digital strategy and product roadmap, covering the website, Kinship Compass, Kinship Minds, AI tool and other digital tools (excluding marketing and social media).

Essential knowledge, abilities, skills and experience includes:
- Significant senior digital leadership experience covering strategy, delivery, KPIs, budgeting and reporting.
- Successful track record leading mid–large scale website and digital development projects.
- Credible technical expertise for a senior role, including SEO, analytics and optimisation.
- Excellent project management experience and commitment to taking accountability for tools like Asana and Notion.
- Positive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to innovation and improvement.

Responsibilities of our Head of Legacy Giving:
- Our Head of Legacy Giving is responsible for Cats Protection’s largest charitable income stream, leading our Legacy Marketing, Legacy Administration and In Memory teams as we seek to delivery exemplary fundraising programmes raising upwards of £50m a year – around half of the cats we help are cared for thanks to this work.
- With ambitions to continue growing the income we receive from Legacy and In Memory giving, our Head of Legacy Giving is responsible for shaping the long-term strategy to deliver this growth and overseeing the implementation of activity across the organisation that maximises the scale and value of current and future support.
- Underpinning this transformation is a responsibility for the role to lead our medium and long-term legacy modelling, inspire and develop our high performing teams, and collaborate with an array of internal stakeholders and key external partners.
- The role is also a member of our Marketing and Income Generation (MIG) directorate leadership team, as part of a unified leadership group that has shared accountability and strategic responsibility for the organisation’s collective income generation performance.
About the Legacy and In Memory department:
- The department sits within our Individual Giving and Legacies business area of the Marketing & Income Generation Directorate
- There are four broad areas of expertise and delivery within the department – legacy marketing, legacy administration, in memory fundraising, and local legacy and in memory giving – with 16 individuals making up the teams.
- The teams are responsible for fundraising programmes that cover traditional legacy giving, Free Wills, our Cat Guardians service and In Memory giving for both people and cats.
What we’re looking for in our Head of Legacy Giving:
- Proven experience in a senior charitable legacy fundraising and direct marketing role
- Experience of leading and managing multiple teams working together to deliver ambitious targets, overcome challenges and achieve measurable impact in a remote working environment

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Head of Funding and Partnershipsis a key member of HACT’s Leadership Team and leads the organisation’s business development, tendering and fundraising function. As part of the management tier, the role is responsible for scaling HACT’s impact across and beyond the housing sector through innovative commercial approaches, strategic fundraising, and exceptional customer relationships.
This position combines fundraising expertise, partnership building, developing and maintaining high-value relationships with funders, partners, and clients, as well as market intelligence. The Head of Funding and Partnerships creates and executes annual fundraising and commercial plans, fosters collaborative relationships across the organisation, and embodies HACT’s values through transparent, supportive leadership. From time to time, the role presents to the Trustee Board and provides strategic advice and leadership to the executive team.
JOB PURPOSE
To lead HACT's fundraising, tendering and business development function, delivering ambitious fundraising targets while providing strategic market insights that drive organisational growth and innovation.
Responsibilities
Strategic fundraising leadership
- Create and deliver a fundraising strategy aligned with HACT's business strategy and ambitious growth target, with annual and multi-year targets
- ·Identify new funding opportunities through market research, relationship building, and strategic intelligence

- Line manage and develop the Funding and Insights Officer, providing coaching, guidance, and performance management
- Develop and implement Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for proposals and grant applications to ensure consistency and quality
- Establish accessible, reliable management information systems to track performance and inform decision-making
- Ensure efficient processes and systems that support high-quality proposal development, tender submissions and relationship management

The Legacy Executive plays pivotal role in delivering exceptional fundraising services for our client Royal Trinity Hospice. You will be responsible for delivering excellent stewardship and supporter care – both of which are essential to achieving Trinity’s (and Compton’s) fundraising objectives.
You will inspire and support individuals in engaging with Legacy Giving, developing relationships that encourage a gift in their Will to Trinity. You will support in the development and management of legacy focused campaigns and products as well as exploring new opportunities for income growth.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Support the Head of Legacy Giving to identify, develop and maximise fundraising (and income) opportunities through fundraising products and events, and developing supporter relationships.
