TREASURER / TRUSTEE

Age UK Gloucestershire’s vision is to make our county the best place in the UK in which to grow older.

We are seeking a new Treasurer to join our board of trustees /directors and help us achieve our vision.

We are a small, independent Charity based in Gloucestershire with the aims to challenge negative stereotypes of ageing, create positive age-friendly communities, help older people retain a sense of purpose, and offer help and support to older people and their families.

Overview of the role:

The Treasurer supports the Board with maintaining an overview of the charity’s financial affairs, as well as fulfilling the role of a Trustee/Board Director. The Treasurer assists the Chair and the CEO in ensuring that the board of trustees fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper financial governance of the charity; by ensuing effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are in place, reporting to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the Charity.

In addition to the above, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all trustees.

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Our trustees service for a 3-year term of office with the potential for re-appointment for a further term to a maximum of 6 years.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.

· A finance professional. A knowledge of charity finance is an advantage. Otherwise, an enthusiasm to learn, drawing from sound commercial experience and an understanding of SMEs.

· A strategical thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity.

· Clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non-finance specialists.

· Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, liaising with auditors.

· Commitment to striving for better for older people across Gloucestershire.

You’ll need to be able to commit to attending six board meetings a year, as well as the potential for some further working group. In return we can offer training, a chance for someone who is maybe looking for their first board experience to get involved, and a supportive environment for anyone who wishes to join us.

At the English Folk Dance and Song Society we champion the folk arts at the heart of England’s rich and diverse cultural landscape.

We are seeking three voluntary Trustees/Directors to join our Board, with the potential for one of the new appointees to become the Deputy Chair.

The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) is seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with the strategic focus, governance understanding, leadership experience and time to support and develop a committed board, whose purpose is to ensure that Scotland’s young musicians, from all backgrounds, can access world-class classical music opportunities.

Our current Chair, Lindsay Pell, is Senior Producer for Music at BBC Scotland and an alumna of NYOS who has been on the board for 12 years. She is a strong advocate for youth music in Scotland and is committed to providing the incoming chair with a comprehensive handover to ensure a smooth transition.

Becoming NYOS’s Chair will enable you to make a difference for young people in Scotland, using your skills, experience, energy, and perspective to support NYOS in realising its aims and delivering the best for its participants. 

You will share NYOS’s values, vision, and commitment to providing outstanding, inclusive opportunities for Scotland’s young musicians. You will have an understanding of the barriers that young people might face in accessing musical opportunities and share our dedication to widening access to classical youth music-making.

Quilombo UK is looking for a Researcher to join their national volunteering team working from home. QuilomboUK is a not for profit social enterprise that challenges people to think differently and bridge gaps between communities, with the aim of building a culturally rich society, where differences are accepted and celebrated. As chosen among 160 other organizations to work in collaboration with the Home Office on the “Building a Stronger Britain together” project, you will be joining a team, which not only supports the community but also stands up to extremism in all of its forms.

Main Responsibilities

• Since its creation, Quilombo UK has collected a great amount of information, evidence and items through projects, fundraisers, events etc.

• We are looking for a volunteer to find published materials related to Quilombo’s key objectives, especially cultural and racial diversity, and stereotypes in UK communities. The materials include all types of evidence, articles, journals, newspaper columns, local and global news stories. 

• The researcher will help to collect information that can be used as an evidence base to help inform future activities, and also in exhibitions, workshops, and community events. 

• We are looking for a self-starter who can source, collect, and share relevant materials independently. You will also be working closely with our volunteers in relevant areas such as Marketing and PR.

• Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.

General tasks 

• Contribute to staff meetings and other internal meetings with views and suggestions etc.

• You will need to have good written skills and be able to explain concepts and projects concisely and accurately; 

• You will be self-starting and willing to research the various projects that we have carried out and catalogue all the evidence collected

• You will need to have good communication and team-working skills as you will be working closely with Marketing & PR and other volunteers

• Committed to working with the community with a passion for helping others less fortunate

• Be computer literate - a good understanding of Microsoft Word is essential and Excel skills are beneficial although support from other volunteers will be provided if necessary

• To show professionalism at all levels and in all environments 

• Be a strong team player

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

Job Title – Children’s Advocacy Helpline Volunteer

Contract - Volunteer

Hours - Minimum 1 day a week for minimum of 1 year post training period, Helpline opening hours Monday to Friday 10am-6pm

Salary – Out of pocket expenses for travel (up to £10 per day) and Lunch (up to £5 per day)

Coram Voice exists to enable and equip children and young people to hold the system to account, to challenge and support it to do its job properly and to uphold the rights of children and young people to actively participate in shaping their own lives.

Whether you are currently studying, recently graduated, working part-time, retired or between jobs, volunteering with Coram Voice is a great opportunity to make a difference at the same time as gaining experience of working for a national children’s rights charity.

Our Helpline Supervisors will support you to develop valuable advocacy skills and knowledge of children’s rights and we offer specialist training in safeguarding, equality and diversity and advocacy. This training and other resources will help you to prepare for the role. You will be joining a team that provides quality support to young people in a friendly and supportive environment.

Our volunteer team is integral to our service and we could not provide the service we do without them, particularly in terms of the support we offer to homeless children.
