Job description

Are you a qualified finance professional, looking for a purposeful, challenging and varied role within a dynamic, rapidly developing charity? Do you have excellent interpersonal skills – and, in particular, would you relish the opportunity to create relationships with a group of amazing volunteers - who are at the heart of this organisation? Are you excited to bring your financial skills and experience to help an anti-poverty charity go from strength to strength? If so, then we’d love to hear from you. The Hygiene Bank is recruiting this new role as a key milestone in its new three-year strategy, as we work to alleviate hygiene poverty and ultimately end it for good.

The new part time post of Finance Officer has been created to help with the expansion of The Hygiene Bank, as it introduces its three-year strategy for growth.  The charity has grown rapidly since its creation in 2018 and is looking to progress in its mission to end hygiene poverty.

The Finance Officer will be involved in all aspects of the charity’s financial operations.  You will be the first point of call for financial queries and questions arising from our team of over 500 volunteers, and help prepare financial statements for our local projects. You will process purchase and sales invoices, volunteer, and staff expenses.  You will support grant and other fundraising applications, process donations from a variety of different platforms, deal with gift aid, banking, and prepaid cards.  You will be supported and mentored by our hands-on Head of Finance.

ABOUT YOU:

You will probably have a finance qualification and experience of working in the finance department of a charity.  You will have strong Excel skills and familiarity of dealing with fundraising platforms such as JustGiving.  You will need to form constructive and supportive working relationships with our volunteers and other stakeholders so you will need strong communications skills, excellent numeracy and literacy, the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise your own workload while maintaining a compassionate, professional and efficient public image for the charity.
