Responsibilities of our Head of Legacy Giving:

• Our Head of Legacy Giving is responsible for Cats Protection’s largest charitable income stream, leading our Legacy Marketing, Legacy Administration and In Memory teams as we seek to delivery exemplary fundraising programmes raising upwards of £50m a year – around half of the cats we help are cared for thanks to this work.
• With ambitions to continue growing the income we receive from Legacy and In Memory giving, our Head of Legacy Giving is responsible for shaping the long-term strategy to deliver this growth and overseeing the implementation of activity across the organisation that maximises the scale and value of current and future support.
• Underpinning this transformation is a responsibility for the role to lead our medium and long-term legacy modelling, inspire and develop our high performing teams, and collaborate with an array of internal stakeholders and key external partners.
• The role is also a member of our Marketing and Income Generation (MIG) directorate leadership team, as part of a unified leadership group that has shared accountability and strategic responsibility for the organisation’s collective income generation performance.

About the Legacy and In Memory department:

• The department sits within our Individual Giving and Legacies business area of the Marketing & Income Generation Directorate
• There are four broad areas of expertise and delivery within the department – legacy marketing, legacy administration, in memory fundraising, and local legacy and in memory giving – with 16 individuals making up the teams.
• The teams are responsible for fundraising programmes that cover traditional legacy giving, Free Wills, our Cat Guardians service and In Memory giving for both people and cats.

What we’re looking for in our Head of Legacy Giving:

• Proven experience in a senior charitable legacy fundraising and direct marketing role
• Experience of leading and managing multiple teams working together to deliver ambitious targets, overcome challenges and achieve measurable impact in a remote working environment
• Proven track record of strategic development, planning and implementation
• Experience of commissioning and managing external agencies and consultants
• Experience of managing significant income and expenditure budgets
• Experience of providing impactful management information and reports to internal stakeholders on legacy income and key KPIs
• Knowledge of Chartered Institute of Fundraising codes of practice, sector regulation and compliance, and data protection legislation

About the role

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will lead the development and delivery of a systematic, data-driven, and project-managed approach to fundraising and communications — driving sustainable income growth and raising the charity’s profile and influence.

The Clink Charity, founded in 2009, aims to prevent and reduce reoffending through training, rehabilitation and support. We deliver hospitality and horticulture training behind prison walls and in the community, creating an environment where students gain skills, confidence and qualifications to rebuild their lives.

We have trained approximately 5,000 people in prison and delivered 2,600 City & Guilds qualifications across hospitality and food courses.

Clink Events is our social enterprise catering business, with food produced by women in HMP Downview and an additional kitchen in Herne Hill. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 General Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for financial management, including strategic planning, reporting, budgeting, systems and controls.
• Responsibility for IT, HR, premises, lettings and administration.
• Active member of the senior leadership team, working with colleagues and the Board of Trustees.
• Promote the Charity’s ethos and support charity initiatives and policies.

Financial Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the financial strategy and conduct financial modelling for strategic decision-making.
• Lead all financial procedures and reporting, including monthly budget monitoring, management accounts and annual accounts.
• Maintain financial controls, standards and systems.
• Prepare and maintain budgets, financial plans and forecasts.
• Provide information for financial returns, bids and grant claims.
• Maintain the Asset Register and Risk Register.
• Negotiate, manage and monitor tenders, contracts, licences and service agreements.
• Act as cost centre manager for designated budget areas.
• Advise staff on financial matters.
• Manage key charity resources such as printers, transport and other significant assets.

HR Responsibilities

• In liaison with HR Managed Services (Solution22), oversee an effective HR function covering recruitment, induction, training, payroll, pensions, performance, retention and wellbeing.
• Ensure the CEO and leadership team have access to HR advice and data.
• Oversee policies and procedures and ensure the Handbook is updated in line with legislation.

Premises Management

• Lead responsibility for the Head Office site, including maintenance and development.
• Report to the CEO and Trustees on premises issues and recommend repairs or capital works.
• Liaise with contractors regarding building maintenance.
• Monitor energy consumption and implement savings.
• Prepare an annual maintenance plan and capital work forecasts.
• Manage income from facility lettings and other revenue sources.
• Manage the premises budget and ensure value for money.

Health and Safety

• Act as Health and Safety Officer and ensure compliance with all legislation and procedures.
• Prepare and update the emergency plan and risk analysis.
• Conduct regular health and safety risk assessments.
• Ensure First Aid requirements are met and logs maintained.
• Arrange health and safety training.

IT Support

• Manage the IT Services contract with Computerlink.
• Ensure IT systems and devices are well maintained.
• Plan and oversee IT projects and updates.
• Ensure e-safety and GDPR compliance.
• Ensure systems are protected against cyber-attacks.
• Ensure all necessary IT licences are in place.

Risk Management and Data Protection

• Maintain risk management procedures and disaster recovery plans.
• Monitor risk policies to minimise organisational risk.
• Maintain and update the operational Risk Register.
• Oversee insurance arrangements.
• Liaise with the Data Protection Officer and ensure compliance with data protection and FOI policies.
• Ensure staff receive data protection training and respond to subject access and FOI requests.

Other Duties

• Follow safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
• Participate in training and maintain professional development.
• Induct and train new staff as required.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation.
• Comply with Equal Opportunities policies.
• Support whole-charity initiatives and events.
• Attend Trustee Board and Committee meetings when required.

Line Management

• Finance Manager and Accounts Officer.
• Relevant contractors (IT, HR, cleaning).

Duties may vary at the reasonable discretion of the CEO.

Head of Finance & Operations

We are looking for a Head of Finance & Operations to join our growing team in this flexible, remote working role (4 days per week).

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within an organisation that is transforming environmental philanthropy across the UK.

The Role

As Head of Finance & Operations, you will play a pivotal role in leading EFN’s financial, operational, and HR functions, ensuring the organisation continues to thrive and deliver on its ambitious strategy.

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), you will join the Leadership Team and work closely with the ED and Board of Trustees to ensure sound financial management, operational excellence, and a supportive, effective working culture.

You will:

• Manage HR, IT, and systems to support our remote-working team

About You

We are seeking an experienced and strategic finance and operations leader who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

You will have:

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or AAT)
• At least 7 years’ experience in financial and operational management within the charity sector
• Strong understanding of HR, IT, risk management, and governance in small teams
• Proven experience managing budgets, audits, and charity accounts (Xero experience ideal)
• Excellent project management and strategic planning skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and mentor others
• A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach

Desirable:

• Knowledge of UK charity governance and reporting requirements
• Experience working with philanthropists, funders, or in the environmental sector
• Interest in climate and biodiversity issues
