Healthwatch Jobs
This role has a strong digital communications bias, and we are looking for someone who can really help ensure that Healthwatch Barnet communications are engaging and maintained to national standards, and are consistent and promote the values and approach to communications by Inclusion Barnet as a Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation.
You’ll have an engaging writing and verbal communication style that you can adapt to suit different audiences, and an ability to write accessibly.
You will have a working knowledge of the UK health system and its developments at a national and local level, in order to be able to collate, interpret and disseminate information from a great variety of NHS, Local Authority and community organisation sources.
You will also have some experience and ability to speak with the public through our enquiry line, often many in a vulnerable situation, and sensitively speak with and signpost these individuals to appropriate resources.
We use Canva, Hoot-Suite and Campaign Monitor so experience of these would be highly desirable or experience on similar software.
With a good instinct for what’s on message for the organisation, you’ll be able to capture the attention of our key audiences. At the same time, you’ll be confident using a range of social media, creating engaging content, using ICT and comfortable with updating our website content. Most of all, you’ll share our beliefs in the power of lived experience and the need for society to remove barriers for disabled people.
In return, the successful candidate will become part of a friendly and supportive team, working within a focused but flexible culture, where diversity is valued, and you can bring your whole self to work.
This is a remote role, and there is some flexibility on working patterns which will be by mutual agreement. Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary, for which Time Off in Lieu will be given.
Lived experience of disability, which could include a long-term health or mental health condition, will be needed to successfully deliver the role. We also welcome applications from Black, Asian and other minoritised candidates, who are currently underrepresented in our organisation.
To apply, please submit your CV with a brief covering letter clearly stating how you meet the person specification and how you would use your lived experience to successfully deliver the role.

We’re looking for someone with a track record of engaging families and a passion for supporting people to make informed health decisions. You’ll be a clear communicator and a good listener. You’ll work across our team, alongside our Information and Advice Worker, and potentially engage some of our volunteers. You’ll also bring in Parent Champions and lead sub-contracted work with a local community partner to help us reach residents in community languages. You’ll help us hear and collect resident stories. The information you collect will be reported to decision-makers responsible for health and care services.
You’ll enjoy working as part of a team committed to improving health and care services and access for Islington residents. You may have lived experience as a parent/guardian/carer of a child and/or be from a minoritised community.
