We are looking for a volunteer that can support us in creating these events that support education, community and wellbeing.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a hands-on charity Trustee, helping to prevent animal cruelty, promote kindness to all animals and shape the future of our animal charity. We are planning to add three new Trustees to our committee. We are particularly seeking people skilled in any of the following areas:

• Marketing and social media to foster engagement and donations
• Retail – both traditional and online to diversify our revenue streams
• Fundraising, including corporate fundraising, sponsorship or grants

About us

RSPCA South West London Branch is an independent charity based in Wandsworth, South West London. We operate a small animal welfare and rehoming operation. To fund our charitable activities, we operate two charity shops and an online shop. We employ 8 people.

Overview of opportunity

As a Trustee, you will serve on the governing committee of the charity. This committee oversees the running of the branch and sets out its short- and long-term goals. It is responsible for making decisions in the best interest of the branch, ensuring we are carrying out our charitable objectives, complying with our governing document and the law, and managing our resources responsibly. The committee meets monthly (online) for 1-1 1/2 hours.

As we are a small charity, some Trustees take the lead on specific areas, either on a project- or ongoing basis and many of our Trustees help with, for example, events, fundraising, the shops or rehoming activities.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the areas outlined above and who are committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objective and share our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective and be able to put ideas into action. Experience as a charity trustee, committee chair or board chair is highly desirable.

Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.

Just Like Us is recruiting a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees, to oversee Just Like Us’ financial affairs. This is a voluntary role and applicants should have Chartered Accountant status.

Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity. Growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough. Founded in 2016, we work with schools across the UK to change this; empowering young people and teachers to champion LGBT+ equality.

We run programmes in schools across the UK:

● School Diversity Week and Resource Library: More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools are signed up to receive our free educational resources to help them celebrate in June every year
● Ambassadors and School talks: We train LGBT+ young people (18 to 25 year olds) to deliver relatable talks in secondary schools on allyship and growing up LGBT+
● Pride Groups: We help secondary schools and young leaders to set up a Pride Group for LGBT+ pupils and their allies; providing training, resources and 121 support

Role Profile
General Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities outlined in The Charity Commission’s The Essential Trustee: what you need to know, as a trustee you will be expected to:

● Review board papers and attend board meetings (minimum of 4 times a year)

We are looking for an enthusiastic events assistant to join the team in our exciting new community space! Plateful Cafe is a recently established charity that seeks to help refugees in the surrounding area into employment within the food and hospitality sector. 

We have opened a community cafe selling delicious Middle Eastern food! Our cafe is staffed by people with refugee status and experiences of forced migration who are being trained to work the food industry, as well as dedicated volunteers like you. We will be running regular community events and fundraisers for which we need a team of events assistants to help plan and run.

The role:

- Help organise monthly community dinners featuring three course meals from around the globe to enable the charity to engage with and attract donors.

- Help with running the dinner on the daywith tasks including welcoming the guests, serving food and drinks, take payments, setting up and clearing, etc.

- In a team plan and organise other events and fundraisers throughout the year, for example refugee week.

- Work with the marketing volunteers, providing details of upcoming events for promotion; take pictures and quotes at the event.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

If you would like to help us develop our digital fundraising and our online offer, would you like to join our fundraising and communications teams in creating and implementing a strategy? We would love to hear from anyone with experience of fundraising online or with enthusiasm and a desire to test things out and learn as you go along. Recently we raised over half a million pounds through our Crowdfunder. Now we are looking to create a sustainable medium term income stream online.

The Fundraising Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely. We understand that people may not have a lot of time to give, so we want to find volunteers who could give us one-off or ongoing strategic advice and support.

If you have experience in writing grants and funding applications, corporate fundraising, philanthropy, or any other aspect of fundraising, it would be great to hear from you. 

We are keen fundraisers but we are lacking professional in digital fundraising expertise and experience and we would love your help and input. We would welcome one-off advice on the phone or in person, as well as longer term volunteers.

Hertfordshire’s Family Centre Service brings children’s centres, health visiting and school nursing together, to provide a more joined-up service for children, young people, and their families.

The centres deliver a range of support groups and activities for children and their families to help them be healthy, grow and develop. RSPCA Lincoln Mid & Lincoln

Do you have an animal welfare background? Volunteer and pass on your expertise, help promote kindness and prevent animal cruelty. You will be able to influence how we do things and with your support, we will achieve so much more!

We are specifically looking for individuals with a specialism in animal welfare, for example, those with experience in, animal rescue, animal care, the veterinary industry, veterinary nursing, or as an animal behaviourist.

Using this expertise as well as other skills, as a Branch Trustee, you will influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee – Animal Welfare Lead

• Act as branch specialist to compliance animal welfare across the branch.
• Act as lead of animal welfare for the branch dealing with enquiries mail/phone.
• Creation and maintenance of any branch specific animal welfare standards.
• Ensure branch trustees are kept informed of any events of note, including requests for extraordinary expenditure or decisions as and when they happen.
• Lead and organise animal welfare branch sub-committee.
• Provide written animal welfare report for every branch meeting.
• Maintain control of all veterinary and other animal services provided to the branch.
• Maintain control of animal welfare vouchering schemes.
• Creation and contribution to the animal welfare promotional materials.
• Act as second reviewer for adoptors and fosterers.
• Act as main contact for RSPCA Inspectors, vets, boarding facilities.
• Creation and contributor to branch communications.
• Compliance with Data Protection Act 2018.
• Submission of the RSPCA Reports as required.

Remuneration 

The position of Trustee is unpaid. However, all reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred will be reimbursed in line with our Expenses Policy. 

Use your financial expertise to shape the future of a national bereavement charity. Aching Arms is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and provide strategic financial leadership.

Aching Arms is recruiting a committed and experienced Treasurer to oversee the charity’s financial affairs and support the Board in ensuring long-term sustainability, transparency, and compliance. This is a significant governance role within a respected organisation that provides vital support to bereaved families across the UK.

As Treasurer, you will play a central part in strengthening our financial stewardship. You will provide oversight of budgets, forecasts, cash flow, reserves, and investments, ensuring the charity has a clear and accurate financial position at all times. You will review management accounts, annual reports, and audited statements in preparation for Board approval, and ensure effective use of accounting systems such as Xero.

Working as a full member of the Board of Trustees, you will contribute to the charity’s governance, strategic planning, and risk management. Your expertise will help inform key decisions, ensuring they are financially sound and aligned with our charitable objectives. You will also maintain oversight of statutory and regulatory compliance, offering clear, accessible financial reporting during Board meetings.

The role involves constructive liaison with auditors and independent examiners, along with providing professional guidance to the Executive Team and Finance & Operations function. You will help strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures, while offering appropriate scrutiny and challenge to support robust decision-making.

This opportunity is well suited to an individual with strong financial acumen, ideally with experience in accountancy, financial management, or charity finance, who would like to contribute their skills at a strategic level. Your Role as a Mentor

As a mentor, you will hold weekly one-on-one sessions of 1-3 hours for the duration of 12 months. You will help build confidence, resilience, and help your mentee manage feelings through a series of fun experiences and activities. Whether you’re playing games or discussing goals, you’ll be making a difference in a child’s life by developing the tools for a positive future.
