Sessional Helpline Advisor
Home Based
£10.87 per hour (annual leave paid separately)


Beat is seeking Welsh speaking Sessional Helpline Advisors to provide advice, information and support to those experiencing eating disorders.

The role will be varied and will involve responding to contacts across all of Beat’s support services which include telephone, webchat, email and the facilitation of online support groups.

A flexible and positive approach is essential and the ability to work as part of a team based in different locations throughout the UK making use of different technologies.

Beat’s Helpline is open 12 - 20:30 Monday - Friday and 4 - 20:30 weekends and bank holidays. A flexible approach to working is required to support the Helpline team during periods of high demand.


This role exists to work on Beat’s Support Services team, responding to incoming contacts from those with eating disorders and their friends, family and supporters. Beat are receiving more contacts than ever before, and this is an opportunity for the post holder to contribute to Beat being able to respond to all of these contacts effectively.

The Sessional Helpline Advisor will identify service user’s needs, record the results of the assessment and provide a tailored response by delivering advice, emotional support, sign-posting on to another appropriate service, or by directing referrals to an appropriate colleague.

To join our team, you will need experience of providing high quality support to members of the public, either in a customer service or healthcare setting, ideally obtained in a helpline or online environment. Fluent Welsh language skills, in addition to English, will also be essential.
