I am delighted to be working alongside a leading charity is seeking a Carer Support Officer to support unpaid carers and their families. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is both compassionate and highly organised. This is a fully remote, immediate start temp role until the end of the year.

The role
You’ll be the first point of contact for carers and referral partners, ensuring a smooth and supportive journey into the service. Key duties include:

• Responding to calls and emails with empathy and professionalism
• Providing first-line advice and signposting to relevant services
• Recording client details accurately and managing referrals
• Booking appointments and updating waiting lists
• Monitoring cases, closing them when support is complete, and tracking outcomes
• Ensuring warm handovers to external organisations when required
• Supporting wider team activities such as campaigns, events, and admin tasks

• Experience in helpline, advice, or family/community support services
• Strong listening and communication skills
• Confident using IT systems and databases
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Additional Information

· This position is home-based but with extensive travel across England and Wales.

· A full driving license and access to a car is essential for the role.

· The role requires time flexibility including evening and occasional weekend work.

The Role

This is a key role in acting as a delivery partner on our projects, working on streams of community work across the England and Wales, and within the staff team. 

Responsibilities

• Projects and Workstreams: Overseeing and ensuring outstanding delivery on multiple community projects through Flood Action Groups and Multi-Agency Meetings. Support and manage data collection that meets the aims of each project.
• Community Engagement: Engage and empower flooded and at-risk communities, supporting and representing them and pushing for the best outcomes.  Being ambitious on their behalf and advocating for change.
• Report Writing: Ensure reports are on time and are to depth and quality required.
• Staff Training: Support staff and training manager to ensure comprehensive and appropriate training takes place to ensure continuous professional development. 
• Team Management: Line manage staff, fostering a collaborative and productive environment. Modelling behaviours and driving forward team development.
• Stakeholder Relationships: Manage and develop key stakeholder relationships, ensuring strong partnerships and leading on communications.
• Political and Fundraising Support: Provide data, case studies, and research to support political influencing and fundraising activities. Contribute to and attend policy, political and strategic meetings.  Support fundraising activities through providing data and information. 
• Income: Identify future income opportunities, sharing information and building relationships for new projects or new income streams with Senior Management Team. 
• Support Senior Management Team proactive role to support to deliver NFF objectives.

Day-to-Day Activities

· You will manage and support Flood Engagement Officers to deliver their projects and work streams and managing development pathways for team members.

• Liaise and develop relationships with stakeholders to ensure smooth operational and community engagement activities.
• Support Senior Management Team to build income streams and develop new activity. Working to develop, support and deliver NFF strategy
• Providing information and case studies for communications and advocacy work

· You will be acting as the main contact for projects and agreed activities.

The National Flood Forum (NFF) is the only independent national charity dedicated to supporting and representing people at risk of flooding.  Established in 2002 by those affected by flooding, we passionately put people at the heart of flood risk management. Our goal is to empower individuals and communities to recover from flooding and get the best possible outcomes. With over 300 Flood Action Groups across England and Wales and handling more than 1000 calls annually through our helpline, NFF plays a crucial role in supporting and representing flood-affected and at-risk communities. Team: Community Veterinary 

Location: Remote based in the South West/Wales/West Midlands with significant travel

Responsibilities of our Community Veterinary Surgeon:

• To support the Chief Veterinary Officer in the development and delivery of veterinary services throughout the Charity with specific responsibility for the South West/Wales and the West Midlands.
• Support centre and volunteer site management through visits, conferences, and meetings to ensure effective operations and adherence to veterinary and welfare standards.
• Collaborate with the Chief Veterinary Officer and other vets to develop and implement unified policies for cat welfare, treatment, and homing, with Trustee approval.
• Assist in training and educating volunteers, staff, vets, and the public; deliver presentations and work with Education and L&D teams to enhance training programs.
• Provide veterinary-related support and guidance to centres, volunteer sites, regional vets, the complaints department, and the Helpline.

About the Community Veterinary team:

• We are a team of 4 Community Veterinary Surgeons who are all regionally based providing veterinary advice to the Cats Protection network across the UK
• The Community Veterinary Surgeons report into the Senior Community Veterinary Manager
• We are all remote workers but successfully support each other through weekly catch-up meetings, in-person meetings and a strong team ethos of collaboration and case discussion
• We support many other teams across the organisation involved in the welfare of our cats in care. These teams include our operational colleagues, the cat welfare team and our team of regional behaviourists

What we’re looking for in our Community Veterinary Surgeon:

• Experience of working in small animal veterinary practice with associated shelter/charity experience
• Sound, current knowledge of feline medicine, contextualised care, animal welfare, veterinary medicines legislation
• Degree in veterinary medicine
• Must be currently registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to practice in the UK
• Able to work accurately and under pressure
