Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Assistant to support our HR operations. This role is essential in ensuring smooth day-to-day HR functions, assisting with recruitment, compliance, and general HR administration. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, an interest in human resources, and a passion for working in the charity sector.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding

• Assist with job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination.

• Support the onboarding process for new volunteers and employees, ensuring all necessary documentation and induction materials are provided.

HR Administration & Compliance

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and volunteer records.

• Ensure compliance with relevant employment and volunteering regulations.

• Assist with general HR administrative tasks, including using Monday. com for record-keeping and task management.

Policy and Employee Support

• Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures.

• Act as a point of contact for HR-related queries from staff and volunteers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Some experience or knowledge of HR functions is desirable.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems 

• CIPD qualification or working towards one is advantageous but not essential.

Produce and present insightful reports, surveys, and analytics to C-level Executives, delivering key HR metrics and analysis to inform decision-making.

The Head of HR reports directly to the Chief People Officer, working closely to set HR strategies, design solutions, and ensure the effective delivery of people initiatives across the charity.

You will have:

• At least 3 years' experience in an HR managerial position.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Though we do not require you to be a native English speaker, you must be Fluent in English.
• Ability to work within organisational targets.
• IT Literacy, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
• An understanding of HR-related processes and legislation.
• A CIPD qualification would be advantageous but is not essential depending on relevant experience.

Join our dynamic team as a Volunteer HR Recruiter and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our non-profit Organisation. As a key member of our Human Resources team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring the acquisition of talented individuals passionate about our mission. Your expertise will contribute to building a dedicated and skilled workforce, enabling us to impact the community positively. Collaborate with hiring managers to identify hiring needs and implement effective sourcing strategies,
Interview and Selection
Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday to Friday.

Main Duties & Objectives
 

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
 

• Assist with the Talent Acquisition process by screening CVs, coordinating interviews, and managing the onboarding of new hires.

• Support the HR team with administrative tasks related to recruitment and employee onboarding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

• Previous administrative experience in Talent Acquisition

• Proven experience as an HR Generalist or HRBP and be able to demonstrate your complete understanding of the position.

• Knowledge of HR processes and HRIS systems and HR best practises.

• Able to assist on developing action plans for the implementation of new HRIS systems, policies, HR strategies, etc.

• Excellent communication and people skills.

• Experience in working closely with business leaders and line managers to build their people capability.

• Able to deliver a high standard of work in a timely manner, within defined processes and with minimal supervision.

• The ability to keep sensitive information confidential.

• Available to volunteer at least 7-10 hours a week 

• Ability to actively take initiative and help set things up in a start-up environment.

• Ability to actively seek and give input in a collaborative team environment.

• A committed team player with good communication skills.

​The role of an MRN trustee

As with any small charitable organisation, we are reliant on the skills and dedication of the trustees to support the organisation. We pride ourselves on a diverse board which primarily consists of those with the lived migrant, including refugee experiences.

As a trustee, you are instrumental in ensuring that MRN is achieving its objectives and purpose, and it is complying with its governing document and other legal requirements. Trustees are key to developing and delivering the strategy that will help drive the organisation forward.

With our Chair stepping down due to capacity reasons, we are seeking a Chair to lead the board and organisation. Alongside this, through a skills audit and analysis of our gaps, we have identified the following areas of expertise to have a full complement of skills and knowledge on the board: HR, fundraising and income generation for small/medium UK charities or businesses.

Trustees duties and responsibilities

• Ensuring that MRN pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy

• To ensure MRN follows effective governance to meet regulatory and statutory requirements and complies with its governing document (i.e., memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

• To make balanced and informed decisions in the best interests of the charity to achieve its purposes, and avoid personal conflicts of interest when making decisions

• Ensuring that MRN applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects (i.e., the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its own objects, however worthwhile or charitable those activities might be) for the benefit of the public

• Ensuring that MRN defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets

• To act responsibly, reasonably, and honestly, and safeguard the good name and values of MRN

As LMSU embarks on their new exciting chapter to fulfil their vision, they are seeking an exceptional leader with a strategic vision to guide the Board and support its mission in creating a connected, high quality and transformative university experience for all students.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead the Board of Trustees in driving LMSU’s strategic direction. 

• Hold the CEO accountable for organisational goals and objectives. 

• Provide support and challenge to the CEO and elected officers to ensure strong governance structures. 

• Build strong relationships within the board and the wider LMSU community. 

• Ensure the Board works together with officers and staff to prioritise students' belonging, wellbeing, and success in everything we do.

Becoming a trustee for Home-Start Southwark (HSS) is an exciting and fulfilling role. The role of a trustee is to ensure that HSS fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries through contributing to the strategic development, effective governance and financial management of the organisation. The board of trustees are both jointly and individually responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of HSS, its financial health, the integrity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals.
