Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) is recruiting for a new Casework Manager to lead our growing and dynamic Casework and Advocacy Service.You will be joining an impactful local organisation at a crucial time in our development. We are looking for a hard working and dynamic leader who can balance the operational demands of casework and managing frontline services, with excellent HR skills and a keen interest in policy and developing partnerships. This is an exciting and integral role within a supportive and dynamic team at AFRIL. The role is available due to the advancement of the previous post-holder to a more senior post.

AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy Service is a busy, professional team of 4 caseworkers (3 FTE) , a Community Activities Coordinator, and a number of volunteers. The team has grown significantly in the last 3 years, in response to the needs of our community and due to recognition of AFRIL’s high quality and relevant casework provision. The Casework and Advocacy Service provides AQS accredited complex casework and advice in the areas of Asylum Support, Housing, Benefits and Community Care. The service works to fill the gap, focusing on supporting those with complex vulnerabilities requiring wrap around support. AFRIL takes its services to where clients are; holding regular casework drop-in’s at asylum support hotels, community centres and at Lewisham Foodbank. AFRIL is also recently accredited by the Immigration Advice Authority to provide advice at Level 1, in both Immigration and Asylum and is currently in the process of becoming accredited at Level 2.

AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy service uses casework trends and data to work with community members in order to engage in policy and systemic change. Utilising casework and community co-production, the service has created sector wide resources on asylum support, engaged in strategic litigation and successfully influenced local, pan-London and national policy outcomes. This is a growing area of work for the service and the successful Casework Manager will be required to balance high quality casework outputs and management of a team, while working closely with the Executive Director on emerging policy and advocacy work.

AFRIL delivers the following core services in the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich, Southwark, Bexley and Bromley:

• Rainbow Club Supplementary School - providing weekly supplementary education in English and Maths, arts, music and sports activities to children from refugee, migrant  and asylum seeking backgrounds from 4-11 years old, plus youth volunteering programme and Youth Council (NRCSE and Sanctuary Status). 

• Casework and Advocacy Service: providing AQS accredited advice, casework and legal interventions in asylum support, community care, housing, welfare benefits and related matters. Pre-Action Protocol letters to challenge unlawful public law decisions and IAA Level 1 Immigration Advice.

• Destitution Support - a fortnightly Food Bank in partnership with St Peter’s Church providing food, food vouchers, toiletries, and other essentials, alongside a warm hub with free cafe, information and support. Small grants for essential items and cash payments for food in emergencies. Securing and distributing gifts in kind, e.g. winter coats, laptops and data. 

• Allotment of Refuge - a welcoming community of food growers that supports improved health, wellbeing and integration of members, whilst protecting the local environment. 

• Immigration Project in partnership with Southwark Law Centre, providing free legal advice and representation to support people to regularise their immigration status. 

We use our frontline experience, together with our clients, to engage in policy and influencing work to improve the services and policies that impact our clients group.

The West Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church is looking for an individual to provide technical expertise on buildings and property in support of Synod Officers, members of Synod Committees and local churches.

  We have a new Housing job opportunity where you will be working with a team of Housing professionals with the aim of supporting some of the districts’ most vulnerable adults to move on from temporary accommodation. 

  
  You will be managing all temporary and emergency accommodation placements on behalf of Cotswold District Council. The role involves working closely with homeless clients in various emergency accommodation arrangements. The aim is to assist these individuals in accessing affordable housing options and ultimately reducing the time they spend in short-term accommodation.

  
  • You will be based primarily within one of our Hostels working intensively with homeless clients to enable them to access the full range of affordable housing options with the aim of reducing time spent in short term accommodation.

  
  • The role involves travel across our district to visit homelessness households in their temporary accommodation (including Hostels and various B&B’s) with the aim of assisting them with maximising all of the housing options available to them to ensure that they are able to move on from temporary        accommodation as soon as possible.

  
  • Create bespoke ‘Tenancy Ready’ plans for each client and ensure that they have access to the appropriate support and resources to achieve this.

  
  • You will also take part in assisting the Temporary Accommodation Supervisor in ensuring that full risk assessments are carried out on each client before being offered a placement in Council managed accommodation.

  
  • Assist with the daily running of the homeless hostel’s, ensure repairs are promptly reported to the Property Service Team and assist with ensuring H&S risk assessments are up to date and adhered to.

Friends of the Earth International (FoEI) is the world’s largest grassroots environmental federation with more than 70 autonomous member groups around the world. FoEI aims to ensure that the struggles and experiences of local communities – especially those most affected by unsustainable development – are brought to bear on policies and practices at national and international levels. We focus on climate justice and energy, forests and biodiversity, food sovereignty, economic justice, gender justice and environmental human rights defenders. Our vision is of a peaceful and sustainable world based on societies living in harmony with nature.

FoEI’s decentralised and democratic structure allows all member groups to participate in decision-making. We are governed by our member groups who come together every two years to vote on issues facing the federation. A small International Secretariat (IS) in Amsterdam and a team of global staff support the member groups, campaigns, programs, and other activities of the federation through fundraising, campaign coordination, trainings, communications, and information management. 

FoEI is seeking an International Fundraising Officer (80% FTE – 30 hours per week) to join our small fundraising team. The fundraising team is part of the International Secretariat and works collaboratively with staff and member groups across the globe to raise over €2.5 million annually. This position reports to FoEI's International Fundraising Coordinator (based in Amsterdam) and can be based in any country where FoEI has a member group, including at the International Secretariat office in Amsterdam.

FoEI’s fundraising approach aligns with its mission and values, which means that FoEI does not accept donations from corporations. In 2026, FoEI’s funding will come primarily from private foundations, the EU, and membership fees. Within the context of a challenging funding landscape, particularly cuts to development aid budgets, over the coming years our aim is to continue diversifying funding streams and substantially increase support from private foundations and other donors. This will provide long-term stability for the federation and enable its programs and regions to rise to the challenge posed by the multiple systemic crises we face.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the fundraising team, the International Fundraising Officer will implement a comprehensive and strategic fundraising plan aligned with FoEI's mission and vision, in collaboration with the International Coordinator, other secretariat staff, Executive Committee (board), International Program Coordinators and Regional Facilitators. Key responsibilities include:

· Prospect research:

• Research, identify and monitor prospective funding opportunities and keep donor records up-to-date.

• Regular sharing of funding opportunities with member groups.

· Fundraising materials, grant proposals and reports:

• Position FoEI to anticipate and respond to prospective funding opportunities

• Lead in the development of fundraising materials, including case studies, concept notes, proposals and reports – collaboratively with FoEI teams, member groups, regional structures, and allies.

• Work with proposal teams to craft strong results frameworks and/or impact narratives and indicators to enable high quality and efficient reporting across projects.

· Donor Relationship Management

• Develop bespoke cultivation plans for key donors.

• Cultivate and deepen donor relationships through regular communication and networking.

• Plan and deliver pitches to new and prospective donors. As necessary, support FoEI staff and representatives in engagement with funders including attendance at meetings and events.

· Other tasks

• Provide input on fundraising related external communication such as the website, social media and publications.

• Other related tasks as needed and in coordination with the Fundraising Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• At least 3-5 years of proven experience working across the full life cycle of fundraising from prospecting, proposal development, donor relationship management, grant management and reporting.

• Proven track record successfully raising six-figure+ grants from philanthropic foundations and donors, particularly in the US, UK and Europe.  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to process large amounts of information quickly and succinctly.

• Ability to work within and navigate a complex and decentralised environment with different cultures, languages and skill-sets.

• Ability to work with and support numerous projects and teams concurrently, working both independently and as part of globally distributed teams.

• Experience working on environmental and social justice issues and a strong affinity with FoEI's vision, mission, and values.

• English fluency, both spoken and written; working knowledge of Spanish or French would be a plus.

DESIRED

• Direct experience participating in coalition-based proposal development and collaborative fundraising processes with NGO networks and social movements.

• Experience in fundraising from the EU/countries that provide development aid.

• Experience in developing and supporting implementation of PMEL systems, in particular supporting teams to build theories of change, results frameworks, and compelling objectives, indicators, and outcomes for proposed projects.

Centrepoint Church is a vibrant, multi-generational Christian community based in Bathgate, Scotland (with a second congregation in Edinburgh). As we grow beyond 200 in attendance and embark on a major facility renovation at our Bathgate site, we are seeking a high-capacity Operations Director to strengthen our operational foundation. This part-time role functions as a non-pastoral “chief operating officer” for the church, translating vision into action through people, resources, and systems. In this hands-on position, you will serve as the operational glue of the church – ensuring administrative systems run seamlessly, information flows to the right people, and nothing falls through the cracks – so that our pastors are freed to focus on preaching, discipleship, and care. It’s an exciting opportunity to provide servant-hearted leadership through administration, undergirding the church with excellent stewardship, compliance, and execution so that our gospel mission can flourish unhindered.

Key Responsibilities

• Senior Pastor Support & Workload Protection: A core mandate of this role is protecting the Senior Pastor’s time. Proactively intercept and reassign operational tasks before they land on the Senior Pastor’s desk, implementing clear intake/triage processes and calendar guardrails from day one so his time is freed for preaching, visionary leadership, and leadership development.
• Governance, Compliance & Policy: Serve as a key liaison to the Board of Trustees, providing regular operational and financial reports. Ensure the church operates in full compliance with charity law and all regulatory requirements (safeguarding/PVG, health & safety, GDPR, etc.). Own the policy lifecycle – keeping policies up to date, maintaining a live risk register, and scheduling regular policy reviews and staff training.
• Finance & Stewardship: Lead the church’s financial administration and controls – driving the budgeting process, managing expenditures/approvals, and maintaining cash-flow oversight. Work closely with the Treasurer to produce timely financial reports for the Senior Pastor and trustees. Ensure audit readiness and implement any audit recommendations, exercising cost-effective stewardship of contracts and resources.
• Sundays & Events Logistics: Oversee operational support for Sunday services and occasional special events to ensure they run smoothly (covering venue setup, tech/AV, volunteer rotas, etc.). Primarily coordinate Sunday logistics through preparation and team leadership during the week – this role does not require being on-site every Sunday (Sunday on-site involvement is only occasional, as needed for major events or troubleshooting).
• Facilities & Projects: Manage the church’s facilities to ensure our buildings and venues are safe, ready, and welcoming each week. Lead facilities projects and capital works – including serving as the point person for the Bathgate site renovation – by coordinating contractors/architects and minimising disruption to church life.
• HR Oversight & People Systems: Oversee the HR function through the HR Manager to ensure that recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and staff development are carried out effectively and in line with employment law and best practice. Keep the staff handbook and HR policies current (e.g. employment legislation, safeguarding/PVG, GDPR), maintain an annual HR calendar for policy updates and trainings, and report regularly to trustees on HR matters.
• Operational Systems & Technology: Continuously improve and oversee the church’s administrative systems and technology. Implement best-practice workflows, databases, and communication tools to enhance efficiency. Lead the adoption and effective use of digital platforms (including church management software like ChurchSuite, project management apps, etc.) so that information flows reliably, tasks are tracked, and nothing falls through the cracks. Act as a liaison to our communications and tech teams to ensure technology supports ministry needs (while not being the content creator).
• Team Leadership: Lead, line-manage, and develop the church’s admin and operations team (staff and key volunteers). This includes direct oversight of team members such as the HR Manager, Church Administrator, Bookkeeper, Building Manager, and Health & Safety Officer. Provide regular one-to-one meetings, feedback and performance reviews, setting clear objectives and offering coaching. Foster a collaborative, servant-hearted team culture where people are supported yet held accountable, and ensure strong communication across all ministries.

Terms: This position is part-time (30 hours per week, 4 days) based in Bathgate, with involvement at our Edinburgh site as needed. Glitch is looking for an Advocacy and Communications Manager to help support the charity's work — ensuring technology does not further or replicate discrimination towards Black women and gender-expansive people. This position offers the opportunity to lead on UK tech policy developing and promoting our Black feminist approach to key UK legislation through advocacy and communications to relevant audiences and stakeholders. 

Specifically, you will lead on our tech-facilitated gender-based violence issue area, working on the Online Safety Act and engaging with relevant government ministers and parliamentarians, as well as our online violence against women coalition partners, and the Online Safety Act Network. This role blends elements to advocacy and pub The position is remote (UK only) and is a one year, fixed-to-permanent role, extension subject to funding.

Role Purpose Statement

The Senior Officer, Active Fellows plays a key role in delivering high-quality support to Cara Fellows. This includes leading casework, coordinating Cara’s mentoring scheme to support Fellows’ placements, and contributing to strategic improvements across the Fellowship Programme. The role combines direct support to Fellows, operational oversight and delivery of casework, and collaborative leadership to support Cara to uphold its mission.

Organisational Background

The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.

Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.

Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’

Casework

· Manage a caseload of up to 50 Cara Fellows, providing tailored support.

· Maintain accurate and GDPR-compliant records of casework activity.

About you

We’re looking for a proactive communicator who enjoys trying new things, balancing creativity with delivery, and working collaboratively. You’ll bring:

• Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail.

• Confidence with digital channels (especially social media – LinkedIn in particular).

• An interest in visual design and multimedia (Canva, Adobe or similar) – video and audio editing skills are a plus.

• A passion for the voluntary sector, and curiosity about how research can inform change.

We’re looking for acreative and strategic senior communications manager to amplify Heard’s voice, grow our influence, and share learning that drives narrative change.

As senior communications manager, you’ll set direction for our communications, creating content, build relationships, and bring our impact stories to life as well as being responsible for managing all our communications day-to-day. You’ll work closely with programme teams, funders, and partners to ensure Heard’s work is visible and accessible.

Whilst you will work with all of our five programme teams, a majority of your time will focus on our climate programme. You don’t need to be a climate expert but have an awareness of TV and and foster partnerships with media to transform how climate is seen and felt on screen by helping the team develop impactful climate and health story case studies to fulfill our mission of changing hearts and minds.

OVERVIEW

• Job type: 18-month fixed-term contract (potential to extend, subject to funding)
• Days: 0.8 full-time equivalent (FTE) – totalling 25.6 hours per week* not including breaks (Mon – Thurs).
• We will consider 0.6 or 0.7 FTE to allow more flexibility for the right candidate.
• Pay: £42,510 (per annum pro rata – so for 0.8 FTE this works out as £34,010)
• Staff Benefits: 7.5% pension contribution, generous holiday leave, birthday leave, Christmas leave plus bank holidays, annual training budget, mentoring, and hybrid working.
• Reporting to: co-ceos (Sophie Hobson and Nathalie McDermott)
• Based at: London-based / hybrid.
  • Working at least 2 days a week in the office, one of which is a Tuesday.

*Heard is trialling the Four-Day Week as part of our commitment to well-being, sustainability and effectiveness. This means our full-time equivalent has reduced from 35 to 32 hours, spread Mon – Thurs.
