What is the time commitment?
• The charity holds four meetings per year (Including the AGM), with each meeting lasting around 2 hours.There will be a mix of in-person and online meetings.
• In addition, Panellists need to set aside a minimum of 1 hours reading time before each meeting.
• Depending upon agreed actions, Panellists may be asked to dedicate some time to activities within the community, or for the charity outside of the meetings.
• Should exceptional circumstances arise, there may be a need for additional meetings, but this will be a rare occurrence.
• A chair and vice-chair will be elected by the members every 3 years and holders may serve a maximum of 6 years in total in either role.
What training will you be given?
You will be given a basic induction to the Charity and some basic compliance training to allow you to undertake your role.

Duties of Trustees & Directors:

There will be times when the Trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. Terms of appointment
Terms of office
- Trustees are usually appointed for an initial 2-year term of office, with renewals thereafter agreed at the AGM
- This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses (for example, travel to and from CAUK events or meetings) can be reimbursed.
Time commitment
- Attending 4 Board meetings annually and our AGM – these are usually held on Zoom, but we also welcome the opportunity to meet up in person when possible
- Attending an Annual Strategy Day
- 3-4 hours per month preparation and support time
- During the first 6 months of appointment, attendance at 2-3 of our workshops (delivered remotely, expected time commitment is 6-8 hours in total)
Committee membership
Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the executive team.
Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.
The Legal Trustee will participate in all areas of the charity’s governance with a special interest in the legal implications of the strategy, governance and support with the Board’s understanding and interpretation.

About the role
You will provide a safe and secure space and develop trusting relationships with children and young people to support them to process difficult early experiences and decrease the negative impact that these experiences have had on their lives. You will work creatively using different therapeutic tools, and develop relationships with parents and carers and other professionals when necessary.
Volunteers will:
- Deliver safe, short to medium term trauma-informed therapeutic support to CYP who are impacted by trauma due to domestic abuse that they experienced.
- Maintain electronic case files and records according to Solace requirements.
- Promote an integrated working multi-agency approach with Adult and Childrens Service and other external stakeholders as necessary.
- Attend clinical supervision in line with the requirements of your accredited body.
- Ensure consistent excellence in service provision and adhere to your accrediting organisation’s code of ethics.

Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified dynamic CYP Therapist who has 150 clinical hours, ideally with prior experience in providing direct and dedicated therapeutic support to children and young people who have been a victim of VAWG.
The ideal candidate will also:
- Be registered with the relevant accrediting body e.g., the British Association of Art Therapists; British Association of Drama Therapists; BACP; UKCP; HCPC or equivalent.
- Have demonstrable experience of providing therapeutic support to children and young people of various ages.

Mind in Berkshire is a collaboration between Buckinghamshire Mind and Oxfordshire Mind, in which we work together to create a unified voice and understanding across East and West Berkshire.

Working from offices in Chesham, High Wycombe and other community venues we provide high quality services to some of the most isolated and vulnerable members of society. Services include: Wellbeing activity groups, peer support groups, Safe Haven crisis service, befriending, community partnership outreach services, peer support in schools’, and adult and young people’s counselling.
Buckinghamshire Mind has over 500 volunteers (including 400 peer ambassadors/mentors in schools and over 100 in befriending partnerships). Volunteer Opportunity
We are currently looking for enthaustic, dynamic and supportive volunteers aged 17-25 to work with our young people’s peer support group, Peers2Pals.
Peers2Pals is a friendly and welcoming peer support community, for people to help each other with managing their mental wellbeing and reduce loneliness and isolation.
Our uplifting and fun activities provide the opportunity to socialise and share experiences in a non-judgemental and completely confidential setting. Our activities are based on the Five Ways to Wellbeing: To Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, To Learn and To Give.
We offer a range of activities across East Berkshire during the day, evenings, and some weekends. Our youth volunteers play an integral role in our service, running activities, such as a bowling group, meal and games evenings and quiz nights. We are hoping to expand our team and reach more young people.
This role is a wonderful opportunity to facilitate an activity that will benefit the mental health and wellbeing of our members. If you have a skill, hobby, or interest you’d like to share, we’d love to hear about it! Volunteers must be comfortable in a group setting and building rapport with people from all walks of life.
An understanding of mental health is essential and lived experience is welcomed. All successful applicants will have completed our volunteer training, undertaken a DBS check, and provided 2 references. Volunteers will be expected to facilitate a peer support group for a minimum of 2 to 3 hours per month face to face or virtually, attend regular training and volunteer development sessions as required, and take part in monthly peer volunteer meetings with your coordinator and fellow volunteers. As a Friends in Need volunteer, you can claim travel expenses.

Every hour, two people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s. In fact, it’s the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
Parkinson’s doesn’t discriminate. Anyone can get it.
Despite this, evidence suggests where you live, your income, ethnicity or gender can impact when you’re diagnosed and the support and services you can access.
We want to change that. We can and must do more. We want to remove barriers so that everyone in our community can access the right support and services, tailored to their needs.
To do this, we are building a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the community we serve. By having a diverse network of people working right across the charity we’re more likely to make breakthroughs that change the lives of people with Parkinson’s.
In the last 50 years, we’ve invested more than £120 million in cutting-edge research to uncover the causes of Parkinson’s. We believe we’re close to finding a solution. But to get there, we need more people like you!
What you’ll do
Guided by the Parkinson’s community, we’ve shaped our strategy ‘Every Parkinson’s Journey’ for 2023 to 2026. Our strategic aims are focused on improving access to health and care; improving our community offer and continuing with our groundbreaking research.
We're a growing organisation with 605 employees, 4000 volunteers and a projected income of £43m. The Board of Trustees and its committees govern the charity with diligence and enthusiasm and make sure we're financially stable, well-run, and delivering what the Parkinson's community really needs.
Our trustees and independent committee members come from a wide range of backgrounds and have diverse experience, which we draw on to guide and oversee the charity’s work. Trustees share this responsibility both individually and collectively. This requires Trustees to contribute in an informed and active way to all aspects of the Board’s work.
What you’ll bring
To complement our collective skillset we are looking for a new Trustee to join the Board (currently comprising 13 Trustees) who is, or who has significant and recent experience as a Parkinson’s health and care professional in the UK, to help oversee the charity’s activities in health and social care.
We welcome applications from candidates, who can demonstrate the following:

Substantial specialist Parkinson’s clinical experience in a UK health or social care setting

Good understanding of wider issues and opportunities in UK health and social care, for example in:
- the delivery of services to people with Parkinson's and/or
- educating and developing the workforce

Understanding or willingness to learn about what it means to be a trustee

Willingness and availability to devote the necessary time and effort

Ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Effective networking and communication skills to represent the charity with external stakeholders
