Job description

Investing in people, creativity, independent thought, and brave leadership allows us deliver life-changing impact to children and young people with Down’s syndrome in Kent and Medway

We are seeking a proactive, flexible, driven, and organised person to support our fundraising and marketing activities. This role will be integral to the growth and development of our work, supporting the Down's syndrome community in Kent. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to widen their skills, gain valuable experience, and develop a career in the not-for-profit sector.


37.5 hours per week (the postholder will also be required to work very occasional unsociable hours in the evening and weekends, for which time off in lieu will be offered). Flexible working available.


£ 27,000 - £28,500 per annum– depending on experience


Central Maidstone Office, ME14 1HH. There may be flexible working options and some home working available on request.

About the role

The post holder will work with the Charity Manager to secure income from different income streams (including individuals and organisations) through grants as well as donations, and to deliver communications with supporters, volunteers, partners, and potential clients, to support funding needs as well as raise the number of clients. The role will include the following approximate split in time and resources:

50% - Trusts & Foundations and Lottery (& other grantmakers)

15% - Communications (includes Social Media)

20% - Corporate

7.5% - Individual Giving (includes Major Donors)

2.5% - Legacies

5% - 50/50 Lottery

We have a successful portfolio with trusts and foundations including, Children in Need and the National Lottery. You will be supported by the Charity Manager to continue managing these big bids and developing new project bids for the future.

About you

The ideal candidate will be proactive and self-motivated to achieve success, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be experienced in charity fundraising, including grants/trusts.  You will have experience in communication management, as well as the design and execution of suitable communication material.  You will have had demonstrable success at engaging people to a cause and motivating giving.
