James’ Place was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. We offer men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected.  We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centres and in our outside spaces, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families. We have so far treated over 4,300 men who might otherwise have been unable to access the support they desperately need.

In early 2026 we will be opening our fourth centre in Birmingham. Our new centre in Birmingham will be there to support suicidal men living in the West Midlands.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Communications and Content Executive to join our Communications team. This is a new role, reporting into the Senior Communications Manager. We are looking for a creative and proactive individual with experience in developing high quality social media content to take over the day to day running of our social media platforms. You will be creating content, maintain a content calendar, monitoring trends and replying to messages and comments from our active community, as well as analysing our data.

The role will also be involved in developing other communications content as needed. This will include writing articles and the newsletter, designing leaflets and flyers, assisting with creating and uploading content to the website, as well as gathering information to support our advocacy work. Good writing skills and a familiarity with some design skills, as well as ability to create videos are a must.

We are looking for a comms all-rounder; someone with lots of ideas, a can-do attitude and a solid grasp of the ever-changing social media landscape to join our team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Creating, scheduling, and publishing high-quality and engaging social media content across all key social media platforms

· Developing and maintaining a content calendar

· Engaging with audiences, monitoring and responding to comments and messages, and sharing posts on our social media channels

· Monitoring and evaluating social media performance, social media trends, attitudes and sentiment, adapting content to optimise reach and engagement.

· Ensuring posts follow digital accessibility best practices

· Responsibility for designing and delivering regular content for our community such as our newsletter, and executing specific campaigns as needed

· Writing annual report, articles, blogs, statements as needed

· Engaging in collaborative discussions and ideas generation across teams to deliver relevant and engaging content.

· Work with the team to build our understanding of men in suicidal crisis and how suicidal behaviour develops.

You will lead, with support, on the development and delivery of an exciting new Women at Risk (WaR) project seeking to support women at risk of rough sleeping, homelessness and exploitation. Working across key areas of Enfield and Haringey you will, through a combination of nighttime outreach and daytime service development, support a coordinated response across multiple agencies already engaged in this work.

You will coordinate and lead a minimum twice weekly nighttime outreach, support additional services and existing outreach provision and develop a daytime offer that meets the needs of women engaged through outreach and identified as at high risk of harm and homelessness.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are expanding our team of clinicians to deliver our clinically proven intervention at our James’ Place centre in London. As a Suicide Prevention Therapist, you will be an experienced mental health professional or therapist with demonstrable interest in suicide prevention. You will support men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis and their supporter(s), delivering our unique intervention and co-producing effective safety plans to maintain their safety. Training and support will be provided by the Head of Centre in London and the wider James’ Place team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

· Conduct initial Welcome Assessments with men in a suicidal crisis, assessing risk and the suitability of the James’ Place intervention and co-producing effective safety plans

· Deliver our therapeutic intervention, building trust and exploring the reasons for crisis

· Use the Lay Your Cards on the Table intervention to encourage men to talk about and explore their feelings, attitudes and behaviours and develop positive coping strategies

· Take full clinical responsibility of the men under James’ Place care, as a member of the clinical team and in consultation with Senior Suicide Prevention Therapist and Head of Centre when needed

· Escalate care to appropriate services when necessary, including emergency services and secondary mental health teams

· Deliver one-off guidance sessions to supporters of men under the James’ Place care

· Work collaboratively with other professionals to coordinate comprehensive care

· Demonstrate self-awareness and regularly dedicate time and space, inside and outside of work, to keeping yourself well

· Undergo clinical supervision with a qualified supervisor to reflect on clinical work and raise any issues or concerns arising from work

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Senior Suicide Prevention Therapist, you will work closely with the Head of Centre to provide strong clinical leadership and oversight while also delivering direct therapeutic work with men experiencing suicidal crisis and their supporter(s). You will play a key role in supporting the clinical team to deliver our unique intervention and to co-produce effective, individualised safety plans to help men remain safe.

This role requires an experienced mental health professional or therapist with a strong background in suicide prevention, excellent risk assessment and formulation skills, and demonstrable experience of supervision, line management, and leadership. Training, induction, and ongoing support will be provided by the Head of Centre and the wider James’ Place team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Work as a duty therapist to triage and assess suitability of James’ Place referrals daily

The key duties of the Management Accountant will be as follows:

• Complete the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
• Play a key role in the production of the statutory accounts including notes and reconciliations.
• Own the preparation of the newly created budget holder reports ensuring that reporting is complete and accurate.
• Monitor actual spending vs budget by providing a variance analysis for monthly budget holder reports.
• Extract relevant data from Xledger and prepare reporting for internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have:

• A recognised professional qualification or be part qualified studying towards becoming qualified.
