Truro (Hybrid)
Up to £33933 per annum
Full-time
Job description

Grade: 5

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Position type: Full time, fixed term for two years (flexible working would be considered)

Responsible to: Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships

Direct reports: Philanthropy and Partnerships Assistant

Location: Remote (UK only) or based in our HQ in Truro (Hybrid) - occasional travel within the UK will be required.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This diverse and dynamic role sits at the heart of ShelterBox's high-performing Philanthropy & Partnerships team. You will provide the creative, analytical and operational backbone that enables the team to secure the funding needed to reach more people affected by disaster, conflict and climate change.

Your work will empower fundraisers to identify and build meaningful relationships with major donors, corporates and grant-making partners, and to deliver exceptional experiences for these supporters. You'll be the creative force behind how we bring people closer to ShelterBox's work - producing powerful impact reporting, compelling stories and other high-quality materials that ensure our funders feel informed, engaged and excited about the difference they make.

You'll form strong working relationships with colleagues across ShelterBox, particularly within our International Programmes and Brand & Content teams, immersing yourself in our work and transforming complex information into engaging, creative materials for a variety of audiences.

Alongside the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant (line managed by this post), you will form the team's vital engine room - together you'll strengthen systems and insight that make our fundraising effective, leading on prospect research, pipeline tools and CRM best practice.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

This is an ideal opportunity for someone creative, collaborative, organised and curious. We're seeking a proactive and thoughtful team player who:

  • Is a strong writer and communicator who enjoys crafting compelling narratives
  • Is highly organised, able to juggle multiple projects and maintain excellent attention to detail
  • Is collaborative, and enjoys working with colleagues across a variety of teams disciplines
  • Is creative and confident generating fresh ideas for engaging supporters
  • Enjoys research, information-gathering and problem-solving
  • Has an interest in systems, data and processes and how they improve how a team works
  • Is excited to support others, including through line management

Experience in a fundraising environment is helpful but not required - this is more about skills, mindset and creativity than fundraising experience.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Stewardship & Supporter Experience

  • Bring ShelterBox's work to life - develop a range of compelling assets and materials to engage and inspire high-level supporters, showcasing our impact.
  • Work collaboratively to write and design high-quality, compelling reports tailored in style and content to suit a range of audiences.
  • Work closely with the Philanthropy & Partnerships team to ensure gold standard stewardship for ShelterBox's donors: driving creative, unique and inspiring ideas for tailored stewardship touchpoints throughout the year.
  • Own the Philanthropy & Partnerships stewardship calendar, and co-ordinate with fundraisers across the global ShelterBox network to share resources.
  • Support with the delivery of Philanthropy & Partnerships stewardship and cultivation events.
  • Support with preparations for, and delivery of, emergency fundraising activity in response to major disasters.
  • Work with fundraisers to ensure stewardship activity is planned and tracked on the CRM (Microsoft Dynamics), enabling clear reporting on engagement efforts.

Research, Pipeline & Insight

  • Conduct prospect research, screening and network mapping to support the development of a healthy pipeline.
  • Maintain effective moves management tools and dashboards to help fundraisers understand progress and opportunities.
  • Support due-diligence checks and risk assessments on prospective partners and funders.
  • Monitor sector trends, philanthropic behaviours and the landscape affecting high-value giving.
  • Work with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant to lead best-practice use of the CRM within the team, supporting data hygiene, templates, workflows and new functionality.
  • Gather and analyse donor insight alongside the Insight team to help the Philanthropy & Partnerships team make data-led decisions.
  • Capture lessons learned from stewardship and pipeline activities; facilitating wash-ups, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Line Management & General Responsibilities

  • Line manage the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant with care and clarity - including coaching, objective setting, workload management and professional development.
  • Support cross-team project delivery related to stewardship, insight and operations.
  • Represent ShelterBox positively at all times and reflect our organisational values - integrity, flexibility, participation and learning.
  • Commit to safeguarding, data protection, and equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as may be required.

Please note: We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications. We therefore encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
