About the Job

Working within the Central Services team, the Operations and Front of House Coordinator (OFOHC) plays an essential role in supporting the smooth-running and operational effectiveness of the Students’ Union (SU) and its Front of House.

The OFOHC is responsible for coordinating an effective, professional, and welcoming SU front desk service with opportunities to interact directly with students, UAL and SU staff and external organisations. The OFOHC assists the Central Services Manager in managing SU physical and digital spaces across the UAL campus network and the SU's retail and merchandising offer and operation.

Alongside this, the OFOHC delivers operational and administrative support to the SU and assists with the maintenance and health and safety aspects of the SU spaces.

A permanent position has arisen in our friendly and fast-moving Public Affairs and Campaigns team. The role will support Alzheimer’s Research UK to seize opportunities for improving the political environment for dementia research, treatment and prevention and increase our impact with government and in parliament.

The role will work closely with colleagues in policy and campaigns to develop opportunities for influencing decision-makers and make breakthroughs possible by promoting our key policy asks. You will engage with stakeholders across parliament, government and the wider sector to support the growth of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s influence and ultimately address the harm and heartbreak caused by dementia.

This is a creative directorate, and our Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns teams are focused on developing solutions to critical and complex issues. You will have opportunities to work on projects and initiatives that take the charity in exciting new directions. The role is likely to include regular work in Westminster, Whitehall and elsewhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

 Public Affairs:

· Develop and deliver influencing plans to secure our key policy asks on dementia research, treatment and prevention.

· Work with colleagues to develop and deliver proactive and reactive parliamentary activity to grow ARUK’s network of engaged, informed and supportive political stakeholders.

· Work across the policy and public affairs team to assist in developing tailored briefings and materials to further ARUK’s policy and public affairs ambitions.

· Keep abreast of the dementia research and political environments and use political intelligence and insight to help inform the team’s work and direction.

· Provide analysis and insight on relevant legislation and policy guidance to help further and inform ARUK’s policy and public affairs work.

· Prepare parliamentary briefings, develop submissions for parliamentary questions and other opportunities presented through the parliamentary system.

· Lead on gathering information to measure our public affairs impact and report regularly, including across the organisation and up to Directors.

Campaigns and awareness raising

· Work with the policy, public affairs, campaigns, research and communications teams to help deliver public affairs campaigns and campaign messaging focused on ARUK policy objectives and help shape these messages for a political audience.

· Work with the communications and digital teams to help develop digital public affairs opportunities.

Event and meeting management

· Planning and coordinating parliamentary events focused around ARUK key policy and public affairs objectives.

· Represent ARUK at parliamentary and other events and conferences, including national party conferences.

· Co-ordinate and attend meetings with parliamentarians and stakeholders alongside senior staff and to provide briefings for staff and take follow-up actions.

· Liaise with colleagues, scientists, supporters and stakeholders at all levels.

Purpose of the Job

Employer recruitment and income generation

• Identify and engage with regional and localised contacts to assist in sourcing placements (e.g. local business networks).

Employer training and management

• Manage relationships with a cohort of employers throughout the programme, including:

• Securing their commitment to provide placements and funding in agreement with the programme’s terms of reference

• Ensuring they have the information and tools to succeed within the programme.

• Act as the primary point of contact at UK Youth.

Key Internal Relationships

• Collaborate closely with The Summer Jobs Project Manager to:

• Ensure consistency and accuracy of approach and information.

• Support Local Delivery Partners to build relationships with employers.

About the role

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring Parkinson's UK is compliant with regulatory standards, charity law, and data protection legislation,

You'll oversee the charity's Risk Management Framework and manage the internal audit contract and delivery plan. You will also support the Chief Finance and Operating Officer and work closely with the Company Secretary to ensure efficient governance and provide expert advice on compliance to support the charity's strategic development and growth. 

As the designated Data Protection Officer for Parkinson’s UK, this role will work with heads of department and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that staff and volunteers are supported in how to comply with the legislation.

What you'll do

• Offer guidance on risk, governance, data protection, and compliance to Parkinson’s UK, enhancing awareness and developing a compliance culture across the organisation.

• Lead the Risk and Assurance team, including the governance support and compliance functions.

• Manage and improve the Data Protection and Information Governance environment, collaborating with technology teams to ensure infrastructure and tools are compliant, while staying updated on legal changes.

• Lead the internal audit function (outsourced)

• Lead the development of our Risk Management Framework, with clear definition of strategic and operational risks. Report to ELT and trustees on risk management. Ensure appropriate mitigations are in place, including appropriate insurance coverage.

What you'll bring

• Significant experience of advising on charity and data protection law. 

• Experience of advising on data protection in a fundraising charity context 

• Experience of working with regulators such as the ICO, Charity Commission, and Fundraising Regulator

• Experience of creating and implementing organisational policies

Windmill Hill City Farm is an established community hub in central Bristol supporting local people to live active, healthy and fulfilling lives. About the role

• This is a hybrid role, requiring you to work from a YE office (London or Oxford) at least 8 times per month

Role overview

City of Trees is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Engagement Officer to develop and manage volunteer experience and consultation at City of Trees’ new tree nursery. The nursery is the first stage of the development of this new City of Trees site and future National Urban Forestry Centre.

This is a brand-new post to help develop an outreach programme and activity plan to engage the local community and stakeholders to help shape this ambitious and exciting project in its development stage. We want to engage a wide range of audiences by providing clear pathways for people to get involved in this exciting next step for City of Trees.

The postholder will work closely with the Nursery Manager and Engagement Coordinator (and wider team) to develop a programme of volunteer and learner activity for the site, and contributing to City of Trees’ engagement and green skills programmes.

The postholder will be experienced in outreach and community engagement to help identify different groups and individuals to be involved in this exciting new development right from the start. We are seeking someone who is experienced in community consultation principles and techniques to help develop an activity plan during this development stage. Are you a detail-driven professional with a passion for precision and people?
We are seeking a Payroll Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in ensuring every payslip is accurate and delivered on time. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process, working closely with our external payroll provider to ensure the accurate and timely payment of all employees each month.

You will process monthly payroll, including manual calculations for overtime, variable hours, complex work patterns, and compressed hours, while ensuring correct application of cost codes for payroll expenditure. The role involves administering statutory and company payments such as sick pay, maternity pay, and other relevant entitlements, as well as processing adjustments for new starters, leavers, promotions, and contract variations.

You will also play an important part in supporting the procurement and implementation of a new payroll provider and software, ensuring compliance with all pay-related legislation, HMRC regulations, and internal policies. The position includes managing pension scheme administration—covering auto-enrolment, contributions, and opt-out processes—and collaborating closely with both the People and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee data and ensure payroll costs are correctly recorded and reported.

Additionally, you will produce monthly payroll reports, assist with financial and audit requirements, and respond to employee payroll queries promptly and professionally. This is a varied role that also offers opportunities to contribute to ad hoc tasks and reporting projects as required by the business.
 

About You:

To be successful as the Payroll Officer you will need to demonstrate proven experience in payroll processing, ideally within a medium to large organisation, along with a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements. You should possess excellent numerical skills, with the ability to interpret data, perform accurate calculations, and apply sound financial understanding relevant to the position. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
