The Role

What we're looking for

We are seeking an experienced applications professional with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach. You will have experience providing 2nd and 3rd line support for enterprise systems, ideally including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Customer Engagement) and the Power Platform. You will be confident troubleshooting incidents, carrying out root cause analysis, supporting integrations, and maintaining system performance and data integrity.

You will be comfortable configuring and enhancing applications to meet evolving business needs, supporting upgrades and releases, and contributing to continuous improvement. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and external suppliers. You will also have an understanding of information security, GDPR, and governance requirements, along with experience supporting project delivery, testing, and go-live activities.

You will have a varied role that combines operational support with improvement and project work, allowing you to make a visible impact on how the organisation operates. You will develop technical expertise, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and contribute to systems that support an important professional body and its members.

We’re currently looking for a Data Analyst on a  fixed term basis until 31st December 2026, to help us deliver our mission. This is a full-time position.

The Role

What will I be doing?

You’ll be responsible for a range of activities, including:

• Analysing data to understand the health of British and Irish physics- including student and teacher numbers, research trends, performance of physics-powered businesses, and understanding the extent to which physics is becoming a diverse and inclusive discipline
• Presenting findings in dashboards, reports, and briefings to tell compelling stories using data from multiple internal and external data sources
• Gathering and explaining data relating to internal measures of success, such as performance of our awards programmes, membership numbers, and public engagement activities
• Writing and collaborating on code to get data analysis-ready efficiently and reliably

Projects you may work on include:

• Performance Measures Framework – keeping the IOP up to date on measures of success within the IOP’s activities and in UK & Irish Physics
• Impact projects involving deep-dives into areas of special interest, such as Medical Physics and the role of physics in the Green Economy.
• Other ad hoc projects as required- the team seeks to build a strong evidence base relating to physics; we look to apply meaningful definitions appropriate to the domain and create datasets that allow us to discover new insights on what is happening in physics in the UK and Ireland. This typically involves collaboration with subject matter experts, creating repeatable data workflows, and analysing outputs, which may be used for IOP reports, programmes, and influencing activities. 

Who will I work with?

You’ll work closely with a range of colleagues and stakeholders, including:

• Colleagues in the Science, Business, and Data Insights department, including a small unit focussed on data work
• Colleagues in the IOP and IOP Publishing, including senior leadership
• Members of the IOP and the broader physics community

Ideally, we hope you’ll apply if you bring:

Essential:

• Demonstrable aptitude for working with data, including understanding of data structures and principles, through educational programmes or equivalent experience
• Ability to convert messy information into usable data
• Ability to present information to expert and non-expert audiences
• Ability to work simultaneously across multiple projects and prioritise tasks

Nice to have:

• Experience in python coding, GitHub, and creating compelling data visualisations
• Understanding of the physics landscape in the UK & Ireland

How will I be working?

We operate a flexible, trust based working model that gives colleagues autonomy over how, when and where they work, while recognising the value of in person collaboration. You will be assigned a base office, with hybrid working offered as standard.

You will engage in regular in person collaboration with your team (as operational appropriate), as well as with colleagues across the wider organisation, to ensure effective operational alignment and to support our inclusive approach to working.

As an organization we meet in person once a quarter at our Head Office in Kings Cross, London.

Due to a need to support a variety of important internal projects Parkinson’s UK is looking for two Business Analysts with proven track records of delivering complex change. You’ll understand that change programmes are about more than technical solutions and you’ll strive to include strategy, people, process and data in your analyses.

About the role

You’ll work with stakeholders at all levels to rationalise and prioritise solution requirements and evaluate options for improvement to our business processes. Using your in depth knowledge and stakeholder relationships you will play a key role in successful project delivery. 

Working with fellow business analysts in the practice and our wider delivery team, you’ll demonstrate the leadership and collaboration needed to align and deliver on project interdependencies. 

Please note this advertisement is for 2 fixed term contract roles for 12 months.

What you’ll do

• Elicit and manage functional and non-functional requirements throughout the project lifecycle using a variety of analysis techniques

• Analyse solutions available within and outside of the organisation to find the best-fit for our requirements, guiding stakeholders through evaluating cost/benefits

• Apply a range of analysis techniques and systems thinking to understand the change impacts of new platforms and processes in the stakeholder teams and the wider organisation

• Design and document efficient workflows and processes that use technology where appropriate

What you’ll bring

• Previous experience as a Business Analyst working across complex change projects, throughout the project lifecycle

• Ability to analyse requirements, stakeholders, processes, and business benefits

• An understanding of IT principles, allowing you to be the translator between the business and technical teams

• Proven ability to actively listen, interpret, distil and playback complex concepts, and to influence and facilitate

• Analytical mindset to identify root causes of issues and recommend practical solutions
