Job description

We are looking to appoint an IT Support Officer to enhance the support of IT across Cliff College for students and staff, both onsite and remote. Working alongside existing members of the learning innovation team, the IT Support Officer will also contribute to the successful delivery of other relevant projects of Cliff College, including the College’s annual Festival, conferences and events. We are looking for someone who:

  • has good understanding and experience of IT support
  • is a great team player
  • is willing to play a key role in the life and work of Cliff College

This position may be suitable for someone beginning their career in IT support, as well as for those who have existing experience in this area.

Job Description
Responsible to:      Learning Support Manager
Internal relationships:      Learning Innovation team, Digital Evangelist
Purpose and Objectives:      To provide IT support across the College and at a range of conferences, events and activities.

Main Responsibilities
1. Staff/Student support
   a) To provide IT support for staff and students, in collaboration with the College’s external support provider
   b) To escalate support requests to external support provider if issues are unable to be resolved internally
   c) To set up, support and manage user accounts and profiles using the appropriate software
   d) To provide induction for new staff in terms of the use of the hardware and software provided
   e) To provide basic Audio-Visual support for staff and students using college resources
2. Hardware and software
   a) To maintain and support the College’s computer systems and applications
   b) To liaise and work in collaboration with the College’s external IT support provider
   c) To troubleshoot IT related problems, diagnosing and solving faults where possible and escalating where necessary
   d) To oversee the WiFi and internet arrangements across the College
   e) To support the rollout of new software and applications
3. Innovation
   a) To support the development and implementation of technologies that support learning
   b) To test and evaluate new technology
4. Festival, conferences and events
   a) To play an active role in the support and delivery of the Cliff Festival and other Cliff conferences and events
   b) To provide basic end-user support to 3rd party conferences and events
5. To complete any other reasonable duties, as required by your line manager

Cliff College, located in the Peak District, has been training people in evangelism and mission since 1903. Today it continues in its mission to equip the church in evangelism and mission through a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, a wide selection of short courses, an annual Festival, partnerships with other institutions globally and churches locally and a busy conference centre and leisure business.
