Papyrus is recruiting a Head of Income & Engagement to provide strategic leadership across two critical areas - Fundraising and Marketing & Communications.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a central role in shaping how Papyrus grows its income, strengthens its brand and reaches new audiences — not for organisational prominence, but to ensure that young people, families and communities know where to turn for support, hope and practical help when they need it most.
One of your early priorities will be to bring together our Income Generation and Marketing & Communications teams, creating a cohesive, collaborative function with shared purpose, aligned strategy and a strong collective identity.
You will lead the development of ambitious income strategies—particularly through corporate partnerships, grants and trusts, and the passion of our committed supporter community—while also setting the direction for our brand identity, campaigns, media presence and digital engagement.

Your role
We are looking for a proactive and talented individual who has demonstrable experience of working in trust fundraising, and who can build rapport and meaningful relationships with key trustees and major donors. Writing and submitting applications and proposals to trusts will be the core focus of your role, with a view to securing sizeable donations for the work of CMS. You will also have a small caseload of existing individual major donors and small family trusts to both retain and grow their financial giving. You will have outstanding relationship building skills and an ability to establish rapport quickly with existing and prospective trusts and major donors. You will be a confident and able communicator across a variety of media, including written correspondence, telephone, online and in-person face-to-face meetings. You will be able to demonstrate a strong ability to cultivate existing trust and major donor relationships (or equivalent customer / sales or account management roles) as well as experience of having implemented acquisition strategies in order to grow income through significant major gifts.

We are SafeLives, the UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for everyone, for good.
We work with organisations across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse. We want what you would want for your best friend. We listen to survivors, putting their voices at the heart of our thinking. We look at the whole picture for each individual and family to get the right help at the right time to make families everywhere safe and well. Description
You will provide strong and steady leadership for SafeLives’ communications, marketing and public affairs work over the next year, communicating our Whole Picture Strategy, finding what works and helping it happen to end domestic abuse for everyone for good.
You will shape and deliver strategic communications and influencing work to reach decision-makers, strengthen public trust, and support our mission to drive real change in the UK’s domestic abuse response.
You will be able bring to together robust data, the voice of survivors, and the view of practice experts to position SafeLives at the centre of the conversation with professionals, key policy and decision makers and influencers as a credible and trusted voice.
You’ll lead a cross-functional team of comms, marketing and public affairs colleagues to:
- Strengthen core messaging and consistency around our Whole Picture strategy and the WP Framework, to support delivery and impact
- maintain our communications and marketing and our brand
- provide oversight of our influencing through policy and public affairs, working with senior colleagues where escalation is required
- support income generation through targeted marketing, and support for fundraising
- ensure we are sharing evidence, data and research in support of our strategy
You will connect reactive work with long-term strategic priorities, ensuring our external engagement supports our strategic priorities, policy goals, and income generation ambitions. And you will lead high-quality responses to breaking news and emerging issues, providing clear strategic advice to the Senior Leadership Team and acting as a trusted lead on reputational risk.

Thank you for your interest in the post of Chief Operating Officer of Worcester Cathedral. In this important role the new COO will work with the Dean and colleagues of the Cathedral Chapter to support the ministry and mission of the Cathedral and deliver the next phase of our strategic vision.
The COO plays a central role in delivering the Chapter’s strategy and plans, maximising resources and commercial activities and managing the day-to-day operation of the Cathedral, while nurturing its unique character and vision. The role carries a broad and critical remit across a particular and complex organisational infrastructure. The role of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is one of two statutory chief officer roles under the Cathedral Measure 2021, along with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
We believe that to be successful in the role, the COO will need to demonstrate a significant track record of strategic leadership in a complex and diverse operation. Whether their background is in the public, non-for-profit, or private sector, they will be a proven leader with acute political sensitivity and judgement, and outstanding communication and commercial skills. Overall executive leadership at the Cathedral is exercised by the Senior Executive Team (SET). The Senior Executive Team meets fortnightly, and the COO is expected to take an active part in those meetings and the wider executive function. The Senior Management Group (SMG) is chaired by the COO and comprises the residentiary canons, the COO and all heads of departments, and meets fortnightly.
This is a challenging role with some complex and demanding tasks at an exciting time of change for Worcester. It offers an outstanding opportunity to bring new thinking to the life of the Cathedral in a context where colleagues will offer both strong support and significant stimulus.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Governance
- To facilitate good governance processes, and to ensure that all policies and procedures are compliant; to work with the Dean to shape the agenda and implement the decision of the Chapter.

- To provide leadership and managements of the staff team.
Finance
- To work with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure there is a strategic plan in place for finance; to work closely with the Finance Committee and finance and fundraising staff to ensure regular and relevant reports are produced, cash flow is monitored, and an annual Chapter budget is drawn up.
Fabric
- To have oversight of the fabric of the Cathedral and precinct, in conjunction with the Surveyor of the Fabric (cathedral architect) and the architect for the close properties; and to prepare budgets and robust management plans for major projects as well as for the routine maintenance of the Cathedral and close properties.

Job Purpose
The Development Manager will manage our fundraising and partnerships portfolio, supporting the stewardship of relationships with some of the world’s biggest environmental foundations and philanthropists. They will manage new and existing relationships, prepare grant applications and reporting, and evolve our outreach to support the growth and diversification of our fundraising opportunities. The role will work closely with the Executive Director, our UK team, and our US based global development department, to secure sustainable resources to strengthen Oceana UK and help drive positive impact for our seas.

They will foster strong relationships with high-level partners, co-deliver excellent funding applications and reports, and provide written and verbal updates with precision and confidence. They must have experience in growing and diversifying income streams and converting new interest into long-term, sustainable, support.
The position will be hybrid, based three days per week (Tues-Thurs) from Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Regular national, and occasional international, travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations, including Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships and reporting to existing funders alongside the international development team and Executive Director. This will primarily be with trusts and foundations, individual philanthropists, and some corporate supporters.
- Manage successful grant applications and budgets, co-ordinating and collaborating with the international development team.
- Work closely with the finance, policy, communications, and campaigns team to ensure all relevant stakeholders are consulted in grant applications and reporting.

Education and work experience:

Main Duties
1.
