Role description

As we begin to grow, we’re looking for a highly experienced Head of Finance & Compliance to ensure best-in-class financial governance, statutory obligations, and operational compliance.

This is a senior, hands-on role ideal for someone who has worked in a similar capacity within the charity or social enterprise sector. You’ll take ownership of our financial reporting, charity and company filings, risk management processes, and ensure we’re meeting all regulatory requirements — so our team can focus on delivery with confidence.

Key responsibilities

Finance

• Oversee day-to-day financial processes, working closely with external accountants.

• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes alongside the CEO.

• Monitor cash flow, manage financial risk, and prepare internal finance reports for the Board.

• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of annual accounts and external audit process.

• Support fundraising by preparing financial inputs for grant proposals and reports.

Governance & Compliance

• Act as Company Secretary: manage Board meetings, minutes, filings, and statutory record-keeping.

• Ensure full compliance with Companies House, Charity Commission, HMRC, and other statutory bodies.

• Maintain and update key internal policies (e.g. safeguarding, data protection, finance policy).

• Support risk register maintenance and ensure appropriate insurance coverage.

• Work closely with the CEO on contract management and legal compliance.

What we're looking for

• Significant experience in a senior finance, governance, or company secretarial role in the charity or non-profit sector.

• Strong working knowledge of UK charity finance and regulatory obligations. The organisation will be making grants from an early stage, so experience with grant-giving will be highly valuable.

• Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and professional integrity.

• Confident managing external advisers and auditors.

• Comfort with ambiguity and excitement at the prospect of an entrepreneurial, mission-driven organisation

• Passion for improving numeracy, providing opportunity, and social impact.

The services offer brief evidence-based individual and group interventions to address moderate wellbeing needs largely using CBT-based treatment, trauma informed and Mentalization approaches. What you’ll do 
As a Wellbeing Practitioner you will work in partnership with schools, children and families to assess and respond to the psychological needs of children experiencing social, emotional, mental health or behavioural difficulties through undertaking assessments and providing interventions. The post-holders will also: contribute to workshops, support to school staff in the identification of mental health needs of children and accessing appropriate resources; and actively contribute to outcome monitoring and service improvement. You will build relationships with peer/senior members of staff, service users, partners, other services, schools, commissioners, as well as other external agencies with families being the main point of contact. You will also deliver consultation, training, and workshop to non-mental health staff, such as teachers and social workers with other clinicians in the service.

What you’ll bring 
You will have a qualification in psychology or other discipline related to mental health to deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people.

Essential skills and experience:

• Experience of working therapeutically, implementing interventions and using routine outcome measures in therapy with children and you people in community or school settings including Looked After Children and young people;
• Experience of working cross-culturally as well as thinking about cultural issues in relation to clinical practice;
• Experience of maintaining appropriate records and have good awareness of confidentiality and current childcare and safeguarding legislation, policy and practice;
• Ability to form good working relationships in a multi-disciplinary setting and work independently where necessary;
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively about complex issues both verbally and in writing with different stakeholders;
• Ability to manage own workload and prioritise conflicting deadlines;
• Commitment to engage with and use clinical supervision and line management supervision.

JOB PURPOSE 

Reporting to the Director of People, the Head of People Services is responsible for leading the delivery of a quality and customer focused core people service to MSF UK. The post holder leads on all operational aspects of the People department (with the exception of employee relations), including all recruitment, core people and payroll processes, administration, systems, data and reporting.

THE ROLE

This post provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity to help the charity build its profile among national stakeholders while delivering projects that seek to bring an end to fuel poverty and to the misery of cold homes. The role will largely focus on working with the UK Government and local authorities to ensure that efforts to decarbonise homes are in the best interests of NEA’s client group.

You will have responsibility for the production of NEA’s responses to relevant consultations and the ability to produce and deliver briefings on current relevant policies for internal and external audiences. This will include responding to and influencing Government policy across key areas with a particular focus on our work to ensure that energy markets work in the interests of fuel poor households.

You will have a key responsibility for analysing relevant aspects of policy at a local, national and UK level – you will also represent and enhance the co-ordination of NEA’s stakeholder’s relationships and help us capture key insights and impacts from our practical work to ensure these are reflected in policy positions and our advocacy. 

The post sits within the Policy and Advocacy Directorate and is part of a creative and caring team of professionals who bring a wide range of skills and expertise to this growing department. 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

You will have demonstrable experience of developing and/or managing projects in the fields of energy efficiency, community development and regeneration, housing, social policy or consumer issues.

It is important that you have an awareness of the environmental, social and economic problems of deprived areas and the roles of the public, private and voluntary sectors in tackling them. 

You will need good organisational skills, as well as excellent written and communication skills, as you will maintain appropriate records and data, and produce regular written reports on project progress. 

You will be an excellent communicator, with experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders - with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

The Role:

As Grants Manager, you will play a key role in the operational delivery and day-to-day management of the organisation’s grants portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Grant Operations and working closely with Finance, Programme, and Operations teams, you'll ensure the efficient deployment and monitoring of grants, while serving as a trusted point of contact for grantee organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day management of active grants and grantee relationships
• Coordinate grant lifecycles, including due diligence, reporting, and payment scheduling
• Monitor grantee performance against KPIs and key milestones
• Ensure high standards of communication and reporting both internally and externally
• Maintain and optimise the use of the grants management system (e.g., GivingData)
• Produce regular internal reports and identify opportunities for operational improvement

Key Experience:

We need someone who can lead this brand new & exciting project by recruiting volunteers, engaging local people & making positive, impactful gains for wildlife.

The role may involve working across a variety of green spaces, from orchards to ponds & wetlands to roof gardens & community growing spaces. You'll plan & lead at least two (sometimes more) volunteering sessions a week to deliver practical nature conservation work. This includes delivery of a health & wellbeing focused session, TCV's Green Gym & a weekly Biodiversity Action Team activity.

Additionally, you'll plan & deliver nature themed community engagement events, which may include activities like leading citizen science sessions, nature themed arts & crafts or nature walks.
