About our team

You will be a highly experienced, corporate and/or philanthropy manager with well-developed relationship management skills, excited by the opportunity of shaping, developing and elevating these important supporters for the charity.

A committed and inspiring ambassador for Guts UK, you will also be a great team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues to deliver a dynamic and innovative programme of donor cultivation and stewardship.

Location

We have offices on London and Huddersfield, both of which are easily accessible by public transport or road. We support hybrid working but attendance in the chosen office is required for a minimum of 1 day per week.

Nightstop Support Worker & Volunteer Coordinator

Position: Nightstop Support Worker & Volunteer Coordinator
Salary: £27,136 including Greater Manchester Weighting Plus Pension and Other Benefits
Location: Greater Manchester
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours

About the Role:

The Nightstop Coordinator role is busy and varied role, it involves working with young people from when they approach the service to when they find longer term accommodation. You will be responsible for being the first point of contact for all young people, assessing each young person’s needs and risks, finding short and long term housing options, organising the logistics of each Nightstop placement and making sure that each Nightstop placement is safe.

You will also lead on the promotion of the service with the aim of recruiting new Nightstop volunteers. The role will be based in the Manchester office and cover referrals from young people in Greater Manchester

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide a welcoming and supportive service to young people at risk of homelessness

· Conduct needs and risk assessments and arrange Nightstop placements

· Support guests and volunteers through a 24-hour on-call service when required

· Recruit, onboard and engage new volunteer hosts

· Promote the service at events and meetings, building strong relationships with partners

· Maintain accurate records and support reporting processes

· Ensure safeguarding and health and safety requirements are met at all times

About You:

We are looking for someone who is committed to supporting young people and has the skills to work calmly and effectively under pressure. You will bring:

· Experience of working with vulnerable people or people experiencing homelessness

· Understanding of housing and homelessness legislation and safeguarding procedures

· Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities

· Excellent communication and customer service skills

· Confidence in working collaboratively with a range of partners and stakeholders

· Flexibility to take part in an on-call rota and occasional evening or weekend work

What we’re looking for:

• Substantial experience in legacy marketing, ideally within a large charity.
• A strong track record of planning and delivering successful legacy campaigns across multiple channels.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• Proven ability to use data and insight to shape strategy and improve performance.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
• Deep understanding of fundraising regulations, GDPR, and best practice in legacy marketing.

It also takes an evidence-based approach which educates professionals and parents, as well as children and young people between the ages of 10-25 years.

About this key role

A key member of the St Giles Yorkshire team, as well as our Central SOS+ team, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering 1-2-1 educational sessions to children and young people on topics such as grooming, weapons awareness, the reality of prison, gangs, county lines and child sexual exploitation. You’ll also need to work closely with partner agencies and attend multi-agency meetings and support the design and development of new sessions and materials. All the while, you’ll be supported by a Peer Advisor with lived experience of adverse experiences linked to exploitation, county lines or prison. 

What we are looking for

• Experience of engaging with challenging children and young people, e.g., those with complex needs, who are reluctant to discuss their needs or who are angry and confused
• A track record gained working with socially excluded children, young people and adults, including delivering/facilitating sessions to groups – especially socially excluded children and young people in schools or similar settings
• Knowledge of gangs, knife crime and patterns of offending in West Yorkshire or a similar area, plus a proven ability to negotiate and network with partner agencies to establish links to further the aims of a project
• An Education and Training and/or Mentoring Level 3 qualification, or similar, or a willingness to work towards this
• A flexible and collaborative approach, a positive attitude, emotional resilience, confidence when speaking in front of a group and a flair for planning sessions using a variety of resources
