Job Summary
The Advocacy and Campaigns Manager will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering Put Children First, the advocacy and campaigning initiative of Alder Hey Children’s Charity. The post holder will be responsible for influencing decision-makers, engaging stakeholders, and leading impactful campaigns to ensure children’s health and wellbeing are prioritised in public policy.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong public affairs expertise, policy understanding, and excellent communication skills. The campaign is child led and will involve working with children to raise their voice. The post holder will also work with politicians, policymakers, clinicians and internal stakeholders, partner organisations, and the public to advocate for change, ensuring that Alder Hey Children’s Charity is a leading voice in children’s health policy and advocacy. This role is one of the first with a charity aligned to an NHS Trust and will appeal to someone with a strong desire to pioneer advocacy and campaigning in a unique setting.
Main Duties/Tasks
Advocacy & Campaigning Strategy

Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to develop and deliver a proactive and inclusive advocacy and campaigning strategy to drive meaningful policy change that benefits children’s health.

Identify and respond to policy developments, advising on how Alder Hey Children’s Charity can influence key decision-makers and stakeholders.

Lead campaign planning and execution, ensuring activities engage supporters, stakeholders, and policymakers effectively.

Develop and manage partnerships with other charities, organisations, and networks to amplify the impact of the charity’s advocacy work.

Internal Collaboration & Leadership

Work closely with the fundraising teams, grants team, marketing and communications and the Trust’s Communications team to ensure advocacy work aligns with broader charity and Trust objectives.

Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on policy and public affairs matters, in consultation with the Head of Marketing and Communications where required.

Asylum Matters plays a significant role in working towards positive change for refugees and people seeking asylum. We are a small team based around the UK, working locally and nationally with an extensive network of partners to advocate for progressive change in the asylum system. We work with frontline organisations and people with lived experience across the UK on a range of issues that affect people in the asylum system. We co-lead the award-winning Lift the Ban coalition campaign, that brings together almost 300 organisations calling for the right to work for people seeking asylum. The Yorkshire & Humber Campaigns Manager also lead our Lift the Ban campaign Nationally, working with our powerful coalition to raise our collective voices and call for working rights for people in the asylum system.
We are a facilitator of collaboration and joint action. Our work helps strengthen collective advocacy on asylum reform and ensures it is informed by the reality on the ground. About the role and Wen’s Climate Sisters Programme
The Climate Sisters project aims to make systemic change by amplifying underrepresented marginalised and racialised women's voices in climate justice debates and in the transition to a low-carbon economy. This 5 year project aims to engage women from Manchester & the North West through a participatory climate leadership programme.
The project involves two phases. Phase One comprises a Feminist Climate Leadership programme series where groups of women collectively explore their priorities for climate justice at individual, local, regional, national and international levels. Phase Two involves participants developing creative projects to showcase the ideas and solutions from the combined cohort from the Phase One programme, working collaboratively with regular support sessions.
The aim of this programme is to amplify and centre the voices of the underrepresented and marginalised women specifically in the climate arena. The approach to this will be underpinned by values that challenge patriarchy, colonialism and white supremacy, ableism and uphold care, collectivity, collaboration and non-competitive sisterhood.
The Climate Sisters Coordinator will facilitate the delivery of a feminist climate leadership programme and a participatory, impactful and co-produced project, working closely with participants, community partners, wider networks and the Climate Sisters Programme Manager.
You will be part of a small team within Wen and will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of the Climate Sisters programme and sharing learning and impact internally and with outside audiences. You will identify opportunities and gaps and take action to widen community engagement in the project. Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service Limited, known as LDHAS, is a registered charity and they have been working with street homeless and vulnerably housed people for over 32 years. They provide essential needs support, advice and information, from their centre in Lancaster with additional support from visiting partner agencies like Citizens Advice, Changing Futures, SafeNet, Calico, Red Rose Recovery, the Hep C Trust and Inspire.
The Role
The post holder will operationally manage Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service ensuring effective day-to-day management and the delivery of high-quality support to street homeless individuals with complex needs. This role involves leading and managing a team of staff and volunteers and facilitating a hub for a range of services. The post holder will foster strong partnerships within the hub ensuring it operates efficiently, safely and in line with LDHAS's values and policies. The post-holder will also lead LDHAS in the strategic development of its vision as a hub for a range of services. This includes strategy and business planning development and articulating LDHAS's vision and mission in partnership with the Board.
Key Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following stroke.
Position: S11233 Stroke Support Coordinator
Location: Home-based, Durham. However, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)
Salary: £19,596 per annum (FTE £27,400 per annum)
Hours: Part-time, 25 hours per week
Contract: Permanent. However, services are contracted and there is currently funding for this contract until 31 March 2026.

The Role
The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.
Reporting to the Stroke Service Delivery Coach, the Stroke Support Coordinator will:
- Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
- Deliver 6 month post stroke reviews.
- Provide personalised information, advice and support.

About You
The post holder will have experience/background in:

Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service Limited, known as LDHAS, is a registered charity and they have been working with street homeless and vulnerably housed people for over 32 years. They provide essential needs support, advice and information, from their centre in Lancaster with additional support from visiting partner agencies like Citizens Advice, Changing Futures, SafeNet, Calico, Red Rose Recovery, the Hep C Trust and Inspire.
The Role
The post holder will provide an engagement service with neighbours, the local community, visiting professionals and the clients, volunteers and staff of LDHAS in line with its aims and objectives.
The postholder will have lived experiences which support the work of LDHAS. They will have up to date knowledge of key stakeholders, support networks and agencies. They will liaise and engage with a variety of homeless hub organisations as required.
The postholder will support LDHAS clients, motivating and enabling clients as they engage with LDHAS and advocating for them as appropriate. The postholder will create a psychologically safe environment for clients enabling the completion of dynamic assessments, share information about LDHAS services and triage clients enabling them to access the services offered by key stakeholders including those organisations supporting the LDHAS hub in order to support individual needs. They will support clients with clothing, shower and laundry facilities.
The postholder will coordinate the engagement aspect of day to day running of the centre, including the attendance of clients and the management of donations and footfall in the building. They will ensure that health and safety protocols and procedures are maintained throughout the building during the hours of opening, alert to safeguarding and ensuring procedures followed.
They will ensure that good relations are maintained with the neighbours of LDHAS and with the local community. They will ensure that LDHAS clients in the immediate vicinity of the building are conducting themselves in an acceptable way.

The organisation
ImpactEd Group supports education and purpose-driven organisations to maximise and realise their potential. A growing and skilled team of over 30 people, we help our partners to be consistently impactful and sustainable through a combination of specialist support and use of digital tools.
This project would support our Evaluation Practice. The evaluation team works with over 1,500 schools and organisations, analysing the impact of programmes and interventions to help them do more of what works and less of what doesn’t for young people. As well as tailored consultancy and support for our partners, we support schools and organisations to collect and evaluate educational data through an in-house digital tool (our “School Impact Platform”) – which this project would support.
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced data engineer to help transform our data infrastructure to better manage our growing dataset of over 14 billion records and create more efficient analytics capabilities. This is a hands-on technical role that will involve both strategic advisory work and practical implementation.
Initially a fixed-term project of around 3-4 months, working to the project outcomes, there may be opportunities for longer-term advisory and technical support following completion if this is of interest.
We are happy for you to work flexibly although would expect the majority of your time to be committed to this project. We expect the work to be conducted predominantly remotely, with a few key meetings in person at our London offices, though you are welcome to use our office space throughout. We anticipate the project being outside of IR35.
What will you do?
Our School Impact Platform brings together existing data from schools (for example, on student demographics and attendance at school) and other forms of data (for example, surveys on student wellbeing and motivation) to help school leaders and educational organisations better understand the impact of their educational choices and programmes.
Part of this involves processing significant data from schools, and we are looking at options for how this could be handled more effectively and be more easily extracted for analysis.
We currently have 14 billion records in a PostgreSQL table, which we believe could be stored more cost effectively and allow for faster data retrieval by using new or alternative data stores. We would also like to develop data pipelines to take data from Postgres to serve analytics use cases, either in new Postgres tables or potentially in a data warehouse or similar.
We would like someone to help identify the best solutions for both areas, assuming our assumptions are correct, and lead the majority of the implementation. You would work closely with our in-house software development team and an existing consultant with experience in data analytics.

About the role and Wen’s Climate Sisters Programme
The Climate Sisters project aims to make systemic change by amplifying underrepresented marginalised and racialised women's voices in climate justice debates and in the transition to a low-carbon economy. The 5 year project aims to engage women in Manchester and the North West through a participatory climate leadership programme. The project involves two phases. Phase One is a 10 week Feminist Climate Leadership workshop programme where groups of women collectively explore their priorities for climate justice at individual, local, regional, national and international levels. Phase Two involves participants developing creative projects to showcase the ideas and solutions from the combined cohort from the Phase One programme, working collaboratively with regular support sessions. The aim of this programme is to amplify and centre the voices of the underrepresented and marginalised women specifically in the climate arena. The approach to this will be underpinned by values that challenge patriarchy, colonialism and white supremacy, ableism and uphold care, collectivity, collaboration and non-competitive sisterhood.
The Climate Sisters Programme Manager will lead and manage this programme working closely with community partners and participants to deliver and inspire a participatory, impactful and co-produced project. The Climate Sisters Programme Manager will manage, supervise and motivate the Climate Sisters Project Coordinator.
