We are looking for a caring, reliable and proactive Project Worker to join our dedicated team at The Winchester Beacon working shifts during evenings, nights and weekends. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adults experiencing homelessness and complex challenges within a supportive community environment.
Working alongside staff and volunteers, you will help create a safe, welcoming and empowering space where residents can feel respected, supported and encouraged to move forward positively.
What you’ll be doing
As a Project Worker you will play a central role in supporting the day-to-day running of the service while building positive relationships with residents and volunteers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment
- Supporting residents using a person-centred and trauma-informed approach
- Carrying out wellbeing, safety and building checks
- Managing safeguarding concerns and responding calmly to incidents
- Supporting residents with practical needs including bedding, toiletries and clothing
- Encouraging resident participation and engagement within the community
- Supporting and guiding volunteers in their roles
- Maintaining accurate records, reports and handovers
- Helping uphold health and safety, confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to reduce homelessness in the local community
This role requires flexibility, emotional resilience and the ability to work independently while remaining part of a supportive and compassionate team.

Essential E=experience and skills
- Experience supporting adults experiencing homelessness, complex needs or challenging behaviour
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
- A proactive, solution-focused mindset
Desirable
- Experience working within the charity sector
- Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessments
- Familiarity with the Winchester/local area
