Interim Head of IT

£300-£350 per day PAYE | 2 days per week | 6 months initially | Remote/Hybrid

Harris Hill is delighted to be working with a national charity to recruit an Interim Head of IT for an initial six-month assignment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT leader to provide strategic direction and leadership across technology, while overseeing an established IT function and supporting a significant period of organisational change.

The organisation already has an IT Manager responsible for day-to-day IT operations, with a significant amount of technical provision outsourced. This role will provide the senior strategic leadership needed to ensure technology continues to support the organisation's ambitions, while identifying opportunities to improve systems, introduce new technology and make better use of existing infrastructure.

A key part of the role will be contributing to the organisation's Target Operating Model (TOM), which is currently being developed, ensuring that technology and systems are properly considered as the future operating model takes shape.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing strategic leadership and advice across IT and technology
• Managing and supporting the IT Manager, providing senior oversight of the day-to-day IT function
• Overseeing outsourced IT provision and managing key technology suppliers and relationships
• Developing and delivering a clear technology roadmap aligned with organisational priorities
• Providing strategic input into the development and implementation of the new Target Operating Model
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working
• Leading or supporting the implementation of new systems and technology solutions
• Reviewing the existing technology estate, contracts, suppliers, risks and opportunities
• Providing oversight of cyber security, information governance, business continuity and technology risk
• Advising senior leaders on technology investment, priorities and emerging opportunities, including appropriate use of AI and automation
• Ensuring technology developments are effectively implemented and adopted across the organisation

About you

We are looking for an experienced IT leader who can combine strategic thinking with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.

You will have:

• Significant experience in a senior IT, technology or digital leadership role
• Experience of developing and delivering technology strategies and roadmaps
• Strong experience managing outsourced IT provision and third-party suppliers
• Experience of leading or supporting systems implementations, integration, transformation or process improvement
• The ability to work with senior stakeholders and translate technical issues into clear, practical recommendations
• Experience of managing or providing senior oversight to an IT team
