Contract (6 Month Contract)
Job description

We have an opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Support Officer to join our SHEQ team on a 6 month fixed term contract.

In this role, you will help ensure colleagues right across RBL have access to the tools, guidance and resources they need to deliver safe and effective services. You will work closely with SHE Advisers and a range of stakeholders, providing practical support and contributing to the continuous improvement of our health, safety and environmental management arrangements.

As SHE Support Officer, you will provide professional support to the SHEQ team by reviewing and developing documentation, training materials and management tools that help managers and colleagues meet their health, safety, environmental and food safety responsibilities. Your work will play a key role in promoting compliance, supporting risk management and fostering a positive safety culture across the organisation.

Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.

Reporting to our Head of SHEQ, key responsibilities will include:

· Review and update SHEQ policies, procedures and guidance to ensure they remain legally compliant, practical and accessible

· Develop and improve training materials, learning resources and information tools to support colleagues across the organisation

· Respond to general SHEQ queries and provide guidance to managers and staff

· Support managers with accident and incident investigations, helping to ensure thorough reporting and effective follow-up actions

· Produce reports and management information to support compliance and informed decision-making

· Assist with the development and maintenance of health and safety management systems and digital compliance tools

· Support colleagues in identifying risks and implementing appropriate control measures

You will have experience working within a health and safety environment and a strong understanding of relevant legislation and guidance. You will be confident creating and reviewing documentation and training materials, highly organised, and able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues. You will also have NEBOSH General Certificate.

This is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract starting ASAP. Therefore you will be immediately available or on short notice period. You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there, with occasional travel (incl. for monthly team meetings).

Employee benefits include –

· 28 day’s paid holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with service, with optional annual leave purchase scheme of up to 5 working days

· Enhanced paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave

· Generous pension scheme with employer contributions ranging from 6% to 14%, depending on length of service

· Range of flexible working options may be available, depending on your role

· Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential counselling, financial and legal advice

· Range of courses delivered by learning specialists to support your development goals and objectives

· Opportunities to volunteer

· Travel loans, Cycle to Work, and more!

For more detailed information about the role, please see the Job Description attached to our direct advert. Our teams take a personalised approach to shortlisting, which is carried out without the use of AI and is based on the evidence provided in your application against the essential and desirable criteria in the Person Specification.

RBL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation, reflecting the diversity of the armed forces community and of wider society. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and personal characteristics.
