Sounds great, what will I be doing?
As Waking Night Recovery Worker you will be ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of our building and service users throughout the night. In this rewarding role, you will provide person-centred support to individuals with complex needs, including mental health challenges and substance misuse, helping them achieve positive outcomes and maintain their independence. Responsibilities include co-producing risk assessments, support plans, and crisis interventions, responding appropriately to incidents and mental health relapses, carrying out welfare and flat checks, and supporting service users with their health, wellbeing, and safety goals. You will also be responsible for maintaining the security of the building through regular patrols, health and safety inspections, CCTV and alarm monitoring, as well as undertaking housing management and caretaking duties. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is calm under pressure, proactive, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable people.
What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and highly motivated individual with demonstrable experience supporting people with mental health needs and complex support requirements. Experience working with individuals affected by substance misuse is desirable, alongside a strong understanding of recovery-focused practice, co-production, and the challenges faced by vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be confident in engaging service users in assessments, developing and reviewing support and safety plans, and delivering activities that promote confidence, independence, wellbeing, and self-defined recovery. You will have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, including welfare reform, the Care Act, and housing pathways, together with the ability to remain calm and maintain high standards in challenging and unpredictable situations. Strong IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and case management systems, are essential, as is an understanding of basic building maintenance and safety issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, accurate record keeping, and the ability to handle financial transactions responsibly are required. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and bank holidays is essential, along with a commitment to delivering outstanding support and safeguarding the wellbeing of our service users.

You will work in SSJ’s 24/7 intensive homelessness accommodation, helping to provide life-skills and housing-related support to individuals with complex needs through a trauma-informed, strength-based approach including structured support planning and guidance.

About the Role:
As a Floating Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting services where extra capacity is needed, working across different locations including B&NES, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset and North Somerset. This is a varied and dynamic role, offering the opportunity to work across supported housing and outreach services, with no two weeks looking the same.
You’ll work directly with people who have a range of support needs, building positive, professional relationships and providing person‑centred, trauma‑informed support. This includes offering practical help, promoting independence, and responding flexibly to individual circumstances in a fast‑paced environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, is well organised, and can adapt to changing priorities and locations. You’ll need to be a driver with access to your own vehicle and business insurance, and be comfortable working flexibly, with rotas provided two weeks in advance and occasional last‑minute changes handled considerately.
What you’ll be doing:
Give clients advice and information, providing an enabling service so that they can be signposted to, and access appropriate services.
Maintain client records, so they are accurate and fully updated at all times.
Ensure all clients are provided with high-quality person-centred services which takes a strength-based and trauma-informed approach.
Work collaboratively taking a multi-agency approach to safeguard clients.

About the job - An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our supported housing services in Wandsworth.The service has 30 units of accommodation across 5 sites. This role will operate across our various levels of supported housing, including a flexible threshold unit that adopts a harm reduction approach with flexible tolerance toward drug use.
You will be part of a team providing support to the residents in the service and will be required to work on a rota basis that includes every other weekend. The service is set up to support residents to stabilise their substance use, focusing on harm reduction whilst improving independent living skills and achieving their individual goals. As a keyworker, you would keywork not less than 2 residents, providing support and advice through regular planned keywork sessions. In addition, you would work closely with our partner organisations to ensure that the residents receive support tailored to their needs. You would also contribute to the running of in-house groups and sessions, as well as external activities and days out,
You will receive on the job training and support, as well as access to a wide range of learning opportunities, both from Cranstoun and partner organisations. We are looking for people with experience of providing support to people with multiple disadvantages, experience of working in a supported housing setting would also be advantageous. Shift Pattern
A typical week consists of two shifts. Each shift begins at 9:30am and finishes at 11pm, followed by an overnight sleep-in. The shift then resumes at 07:00am and finishes at 12:00pm the following day. This entire period is classed as one shift. Sleep-ins are a requirement of the role and attract an additional payment. Flexibility to work bank holiday is also required in line with the needs of the service.
In this role, you will:
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times possible, including using safeguarding and emergency alert procedures where applicable
• Carry a caseload of clients for whom you will be the named key worker, and you will also take joint responsibility with your team members for the well-being and day to day support of all clients in the services
• Lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service
• Develop and implement SMART outcomes based support plans for your key clients

Your background will include delivering high-quality floating, outreach, or accommodation-based support, undertaking person-centred key working, support planning, and risk assessments to promote independence. You will have knowledge of welfare benefits, housing legislation, and issues affecting the client group, including substance misuse, and be confident liaising with external professionals to develop effective support packages.

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.
You will be self-motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team, and flexible in working evenings, weekends, or bank holidays when required. You will bring basic housing management knowledge, strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, and experience using case management systems to maintain accurate records. A clear understanding of safeguarding and the ability to apply it appropriately is essential, along with the ability to travel across the borough to meet service needs.
