Job Purpose
You’ll support the day-to-day running of the charity’s finance function—ensuring income and expenditure are processed accurately, reconciliations are completed on time, strong controls are maintained, and colleagues receive responsive support. You’ll also act as the key finance contact for payroll administration delivered via an external provider (providing inputs, checking outputs, and ensuring accurate postings into Xero).
Key responsibilities
1) Accounts payable (supplier invoices & payments)
- Process supplier invoices end-to-end: query resolution, correct coding (including VAT), approvals, posting to Xero, and maintaining an audit trail.
- Prepare and run supplier payment batches in line with controls and delegated authorities.
- Maintain supplier records and support efficient, professional supplier query handling.
2) Expenses & corporate cards (Payhawk) and posting to Xero
- Administer Payhawk expenses and card transactions: ensure receipts are submitted, policy rules are followed, and transactions are coded accurately.
- Configure and maintain Payhawk mappings (chart of accounts, VAT rates, tracking categories) to support clean exports into Xero.
- Export approved expenses/payments to Xero and support reconciliation between Payhawk activity, Xero postings, and bank/feeds.
3) Income processing and reconciliations (including donations)
- Raise sales invoices (where required), allocate receipts, and support routine credit control as appropriate.
- Reconcile income from bank, donation platforms, and other sources; ensure accurate allocation to the correct funds/projects (including restricted funding where relevant).
- Support Gift Aid record-keeping and processes (where applicable).
4) Payroll support (external payroll provider)
- Act as the key liaison with the external payroll provider to deliver monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Collate and submit monthly inputs by agreed cut-offs (e.g., starters/leavers, salary changes, contractual changes, statutory leave, pension changes and other agreed adjustments).
- Review payroll reports for accuracy and reasonableness (e.g., gross-to-net checks, variance checks vs prior month, starters/leavers reflected correctly).
- Coordinate payroll approvals internally and confirm release of payroll payments in line with controls.
- Ensure payroll-related payments (e.g., pensions and statutory deductions as applicable) are scheduled/processed accurately and on time.
- Post payroll journals into Xero, maintain supporting documentation, and reconcile payroll control accounts.
- Respond to staff payroll queries sensitively and confidentially, escalating complex items to the provider or Financial Controller as appropriate.
5) Month-end support & reporting
- Support month-end processes (journals, accruals/prepayments, reconciliations) and help produce routine finance reports (e.g., budget monitoring, cash, aged creditors/debtors).
- Assist with audit preparation and information requests; maintain clear documentation and controls.
6) Continuous improvement, controls and compliance
- Help improve finance processes (especially around expenses, coding consistency, and reconciliation routines).
- Contribute to maintaining robust financial controls and good practice across the organisation.

Person Specification
- Experience in a finance operations role covering transactional processing and reconciliations.

NSDAS is a specialist, survivor-centred charity formed as an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2024 following a period hosted by Citizens Advice. We provide confidential practical and emotional support to adults and children affected by domestic abuse across Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Spelthorne, delivering helpline and email advice, advocacy, safety planning, refuge and housing pathways, recovery programmes and targeted work for children and young people. Our practice is trauma-informed and feminist in outlook, foregrounding safety, confidentiality and the lived experience of survivors.
We are a small, specialist organisation with an average headcount of around 18 (approximately 15 frontline staff and three support roles), supported by a committed cohort of volunteers. Since independence our trustees have prioritised governance, compliance and capacity building; in our first independently reported year total income was c.£932k and trustees view the near-term financial position as stable while planning prudently for the medium term. This interim appointment offers the chance to lead NSDAS through consolidation and prepare the charity for its next strategic phase.
As our next Interim Chief Executive Officer, you will:
• Strategy & Impact: Develop and deliver a clear 12-month operational plan, with pragmatic milestones and measurable outcomes that align with trustee priorities and service needs.
• Governance & Finance: Strengthen governance and risk reporting to the Board, maintain oversight of day-to-day financial control and cashflow, and support the Treasurer in preparing budgets and regular management reports.

Who you are
• A seasoned senior leader with proven executive experience in a small to medium-sized charity or comparable organisation (c.8–20 staff; turnover circa £0.5m+).

• Strong people leadership skills with experience managing sensitive HR matters, staff wellbeing and clinical/therapeutic supervision arrangements.
• A track record of successful income generation and relationship management with funders, commissioners and statutory partners.

Purpose of the job
UK Youth exists to widen the reach and deepen the impact of youth work and outdoor learning.
To do this, we work with a network of youth organisations delivering youth work and outdoor learning youth work across the UK, as well as national, regional and specialist infrastructure bodies that collectively strengthen the impact and sustainability of the sector.
Together, this network forms a connected system focused on one shared aim: widening the reach and deepening the impact of youth work and outdoor learning.
As our Network Manager, you will live and breathe our network, developing a deep understanding of the makeup, needs and priorities of network members to lead effective engagement and establish a high quality experience. You’ll drive a number of projects and steward relationships as part of our evolving offer, focusing on listening, moving from a transactional to a relational approach to supporting and learning from our network, equipping leaders with the skills, networks, and confidence to deliver exceptional support to young people.
You’ll support the Head of Network Development and the Senior Leadership Team to evolve UKY’s network offer as part of our new strategy. You will be a key advocate for the sector, ensuring our network remains responsive, resilient, and well equipped to meet emerging opportunities and challenges.
The role requires deep understanding and experience of the youth sector, the ability to confidently build relationships with leaders of practice and organisations, as well as a highly organised, and proactive individual with strong project management and excellent stakeholder management skills.

Experience we're after
• Experience delivering youth work practice with young people.
• Understanding of youth policy, workforce challenges, and sector-wide trends including the changing aspirations and needs of young people and the impact of youth work in supporting these.
• Knowledge of youth sector infrastructure organisations and their roles at national, regional, and local levels.
• Strong programme and project management expertise, including a demonstrable track record of successfully leading and managing large-scale or complex programmes and projects in a previous role.
• Excellent relational and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven experience building and maintaining relationships across diverse organisations.
• Proven experience in network development, membership engagement, or partnership management within the charity, youth, or community sector.
• Experience in workforce development, training, or skills enhancement within a sector-focused setting.
• Excellent line management skills, with experience developing staff and effectively managing performance.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences in a variety of settings.
• Experience in budget management and financial planning.

This is a pivotal role for someone who excels at balancing high-level strategic objectives with meticulous attention to detail. You will lead on all month-end processes and ensure the integrity of financial statements during an exciting period of organisational growth and change.
You will ideally be ACA qualified from an audit background; however other backgrounds will also be considered. You will need to be comfortable rolling your sleeves up in a fast-paced environment, as well as dealing with multiple stakeholders at executive level.
The Role:
As Finance Manager, you will report directly to the Financial Controller and oversee the daily operations of the financial service function. You will be responsible for delivering accurate statutory accounts and maintaining robust internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate the closing process to ensure all entries are posted accurately and on time.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and bank processes, ensuring seamless transaction processing.
- Monitor cash flow, review forecasts, and optimise liquidity.
- Support annual audit processes by liaising with external auditors and ensuring full compliance.
- Utilise accounting system to manage nominal codes and trial balances, while overseeing fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and provide mentorship to the finance team.
Essentials:
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent.
- Strong technical accounting and audit expeirence.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast paced environments.
- Experience improving processes and controls.
Salary is up to £65,000 per annum + Benefits.
