We believe that we are closer than ever to a cure and are acting with urgency to make this a reality for the 166,000 people in the UK and 11.8 million people worldwide living with Parkinson’s.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Fundraising and Events Assistant to join our Public Fundraising Team on a temporary contract until May 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who would like to develop their skills in relationship, events and community fundraising. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced role with plenty of variety, who can juggle multiple tasks, and stays calm under pressure. About the role:
Weekends can be a particularly important time in supported accommodation. With fewer services open and less structure around the day, having a consistent, trusted member of staff available can make a real difference to someone’s wellbeing, confidence and ability to keep moving forward.
As a Weekend Support Assistant at St John’s Mansions, you’ll provide practical, person-centred support to residents, helping them build the skills and confidence they need to live more independently. Working from agreed support and risk plans, you might help someone manage their money or accommodation, access appointments and community services, develop everyday living skills or stay engaged with activities and goals that matter to them.
You’ll also play an important role in keeping the service safe and well coordinated throughout the weekend. You’ll respond to changing needs, safeguarding concerns and unexpected situations, maintain accurate records and make sure important information is clearly handed over to the wider team. You’ll need to be approachable and compassionate, while also confident in setting boundaries, using your judgement and knowing when concerns need to be escalated.
You’ll join an experienced team where you can develop your knowledge of supported housing, safeguarding, recovery-focused practice and working alongside people experiencing multiple disadvantage, with access to training, supervision and ongoing development.
We have two roles available, 1x 37.5 hrs per week and 1x 22.5 hrs per week. Exact working patterns will be discussed in interview.
About you:
- You can build positive, respectful relationships with people while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- You’re able to encourage and motivate people to build confidence and independence, rather than simply doing things for them.
- You can stay calm, think clearly and respond appropriately when situations change or become challenging.
- You’re organised and reliable, with the ability to prioritise work, communicate clearly and keep accurate records.
- You understand, or are keen to develop your understanding of, homelessness, mental health, trauma, substance use and the barriers people can face when trying to move forward.
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.

The Joseph Levy Foundation is committed to building an inclusive and equitable workplace where everyone feels welcomed, valued and able to thrive. We actively encourage applications from people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, particularly those who are underrepresented in the charity sector. We recognise that people develop their skills through many different pathways and welcome applications from candidates whose experience has been gained through employment, volunteering, education or lived experience.
About us
The Joseph Levy Foundation is an independent grant-making charitable organisation with a long-standing commitment to funding smaller, grassroots organisations. With an endowment of around £23m, our annual commitment in grants in recent years has averaged £500,000. We have recently embedded an ambitious strategy which aims to find, fund and support organisations and individuals who have ambitious ideas to help young people experiencing disadvantage.
In tandem with our strategy review, we have undergone a comprehensive change process, which includes refreshing our processes and embedding an equitable grant making procedure.
As we enter the midpoint of the new strategy we will continue to be ambitious by introducing a Young Advisory Board to guide our work and to coach and support charity leaders of the future. This continued commitment will see the Foundation lead with its values which are:
- Equity and inclusion
- Connectivity and collaboration
- Commitment and integrity
- Innovation and imagination
- Engagement and Joy for life
