Team: Planning, Governance and Assurance Directorate
As the Governance and Workspace Assistant, you will provide proactive, high quality administrative support to the Board of Trustees, Workspace Management and the compliance responsibilities of the Planning, Governance and Assurance Directorate.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing the annual Board meeting schedule, ensuring timely and efficient preparation, including organisation of pre-meetings.
- Coordinating in-person Board and online Committee meetings, including preparing and distributing papers and arranging logistics such as venues, travel, and accommodation.
- Responsible for accurately recording meeting minutes, capturing key discussions, decisions, and agreed actions.

Access Social Care (‘ASC’) provides legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. Our network of lawyers and caseworkers provide access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded, and we all get the support we need.
We provide rights awareness training to front line managers, and legal advice and casework support to families and individuals. As well as providing access to justice, our aim is to drive system level change through evidence-led influencing and strategic casework.

About the role
The Finance & IT Operations manager ensures effective financial management and control throughout ASC overseeing financial administration, reporting and compliance.
The role provides guidance and support on financial matters to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in areas such as cash flow, audit and tax whilst ensuring that budget holders across ASC are well supported with tools and skills. The role also helps develop and implement the charity’s IT strategy, including managing the external IT provider and service level agreement.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Management and Reporting
- Provide the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with accurate, regular and comprehensive financial information reports to guide effective and sound financial decision making.
- Monitor financial activity against approved annual budget, reporting any anomalies or unusual activity to the COO.
- Develop, implement and operate monitoring systems for financial forecasting and re-forecasting to support sound decision making.
- Support the COO in the co-ordination of the annual budgeting and planning process ensuring that information is collected, compiled and reported in a consistent and robust manner.
- Co-ordinate and produce year end Charity SORP financial statements, including the Trustee Annual Report, providing external auditors with the necessary documentation and support to audit the financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, liaising with the charity’s external auditors in preparing the SORP financial statements.
- Partner with budget holders, providing monthly expenditure against budget reports and supporting their understanding and decision making.
- Preparing financial statements for funder reporting and supporting the COO in designing budgets and financial models for new fundraising bids and other commercial offerings.
- Produce VAT and corporation tax returns and manage ASC’s relationship with HMRC.
- Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission to the outsourced provider.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable.
- Establish a detailed cashflow planning process and manage the flow of capital between ASC’s and its chosen banks, recommending any changes as appropriate.
- Manage all banking relationships.
2. Policy and Procedures
- Collaborate with the COO to establish effective processes and controls to ensure efficient and effective financial management is delivered and maintained.
- Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of effective procurement policies, procedures and systems ensuring best value is achieved across all activities.
3. IT, Contracts & Data Protection
- Support the COO to review current accounting and finance systems recommending and implementing upgrades and improvements where agreed.
- Support the COO in drafting and implementing ASC’s IT strategy.
- Tender and manage SLA and relationship with external IT provider.
- Review outsourced arrangements and systems and work with the COO on tendering for fit for purpose systems to match organisational strategy and direction.
- Lead on the annual insurance renewal process, ensuring appropriate cover is in place and general administration of the charity’s insurance policies is enacted.
- Manage and review business interruption and disaster recovery plans, using regular simulation testing to ensure robustness.
- Keep existing portfolio of client and supplier template contracts under review, recommending risk-based strengthening.
- Oversee ASC’s data protection infrastructure, co-ordinating departmental Data Protection Champions to ensure that policy & practice is robust
- Work with COO in response to reactive data protection issues and incidents
4. People Management
- Provide line management to the Finance Assistant, using ASC’s management processes to ensure they are supported, motivated and able to work effectively.
- Plan and oversee the Finance Assistant’s workload, ensuring tasks are allocated appropriately and completed to required standards.
- Contribute to creating a collaborative team culture aligned with ASC’s values.
5. Other Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and implementation of team development work within the Finance & IT Operations Team in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer and the Business Support Manager.

In financial year 2025-26, PCR’s virtual challenges have raised over £2m so far (against a target of £1.4m) with still one more big challenge to go! The Supporter Engagement Assistant will be at the frontline of our virtual challenges stewardship, supporting a rapidly growing supporter base and delivering exceptional supporter experiences. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, is highly organised and is eager to develop within a supportive and ambitious fundraising team.
While your focus will be on virtual challenges, you will also gain exposure to the wider Public Fundraising portfolio, with full training and support provided.

Supporter Care & Engagement
• Be the first point of contact for virtual challenge fundraisers, responding to enquires on email, SMS, social channels and phone within agreed timescales.

Organisational Background
The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.
Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.

About the role
This role will provide leadership and management for CCLC particularly focused on the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. Through systematic and efficient management, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability. The role will be accountable for maximising the unit’s legal aid billing in controlled work, certificated work and inter partes costs and will hold responsibility for the unit’s billing systems. It will also be responsible for private fees billing. The post-holder will oversee the smooth running of legal aid billing including through line management of the billing team. The post-holder will work very closely with legal, operations and administrative staff. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who will support the role with grant fund management and overall accounting functions for CCLC. The post-holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children’s Rights and department heads in the successful maintenance of our relationship with the Legal Aid Agency. Where appropriate they will be deputising for the Managing Director on legal aid and financial matters.
The role would suit a highly organised and efficient legal aid lawyer, or a finance or billing professional with solid experience of legal practice and a deep understanding of the challenges of legal aid. Whilst candidates with direct experience of legal billing (and more specifically civil legal aid billing) are welcomed, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, this role could suit a highly experienced solicitor who appreciates the important role developing sustainable businesses plays in ensuring access to justice and who therefore wishes to move into practice and financial management. They will need an aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems. However, they will be well supported through training, an enthusiastic and competent junior billing team, the central finance team and an outsourced legal cashiering company, as well as a friendly and collaborative management team including the Managing Director and the Heads of Education Law, Community Care Law and Immigration and Asylum Law.
This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the billing team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period and there will be flexibility over how the three days will be spread across the week (within working hours). The Bromley by Bow Centre (BBBC), established in 1984, has grown into a nationally recognised model for community regeneration. Today, it serves as a key hub for the East London Borough of Tower Hamlets, with a mission to help the community thrive through person-centred, holistic, and integrated health and wellbeing support.
BBBC works in close partnership with a range of stakeholders, its services span integrated advice, employability and enterprise programmes, learning opportunities, community and wellbeing support, social prescribing, and activities that foster inclusion. In addition, the Centre collaborates across organisations and communities to deepen understanding, share learning, and develop its principles and model.

You will be creative, promote innovation, and contribute to the ongoing growth and strategic development of BBBC and services within the wider Family Action.
Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage strategic partnerships at a local and national level.
· Provide leadership and drive innovation across BBBC.
· Operational line management of the Heads of Delivery and Impact ensuring the successful integration of BBBC into Family Action.
· Oversee budgets, manage financial risks, generate income, and contribute to sustainable service development.
· Represent BBBC and Family Action externally and build strong partnerships to support integrated service delivery.
· Ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant services through overseeing effective monitoring, auditing, and continuous improvement in line with Family Action’s polices and frameworks.
· Be a key member of Family Action’s London team and the wider Senior Leadership Group.

· Strong track record in stakeholder engagement and cross-sector partnership working.
· Proven experience leading services for children, young people, adults and families.
· Ability to manage teams, budgets, income generation and service performance to a high standard.
· Knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance processes.

Team & Events Coordinator
We are looking for a Team & Events Coordinator to join this charitable programme based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus with a mission of working in partnership to develop and improve healthcare globally.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, passionate and growing team at a pivotal time in the organisation’s development. As Team & Events Coordinator, you will play a central role in supporting the smooth running of Cambridge Global Health Partnerships (CGHP) and delivering high-quality events for members, partners and supporters.
This is a varied and hands-on role, working across administration, finance, programmes, communications and events. You will be at the heart of the organisation, providing excellent coordination, organisation and stewardship, while helping the team maximise their impact both in the UK and internationally.
This role would suit either someone keen to develop a broad range of skills within the charity sector or an experienced administrator looking for a new and rewarding challenge.
Some of your key responsibilities will be to:
- Act as first point of contact for general enquiries.
- Manage organisational calendars, meetings and diary coordination for the Director and committees, including preparing papers and taking minutes.
- Maintain accurate records on the CRM database and support finance administration including processing payments and claims.
- Coordinate aspects of CGHP programmes, including member reports, grant scheme administration and virtual partnership meetings.
- Contribute to communications activity including social media, publications, website updates and branded materials.
- Lead on planning, logistics and delivery of CGHP events and support member and partner stewardship and networking activities.
About You:
To be successful in the role of Team & Events Coordinator, you will be exceptionally well organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in global health.
You will also need to have the following skills and experience:
- A strong interest in and commitment to global health work.
- At least three years’ experience in office administration, diary management and event organisation.
- Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to use initiative and troubleshoot problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel when required, including internationally.
- Energy, resilience and enjoyment of being busy in a fast-paced environment – plus a good sense of humour!
Desirable:
- Experience of social media and digital communications.
- Experience working with or managing volunteers.
