The Role
The Director of Marketing, Communications & Audiences will lead our marketing, communications and audience development strategy.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can help the organisation interpret insight, articulate a confident narrative and strengthen our public presence.
Working closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team, you will ensure that insight drawn from audiences, makers, members, programmes and partners informs:
· how we position craft nationally and internationally

· how we strengthen our influence across the cultural and creative sectors
You will lead a small but talented team and work across the organisation to build clarity, confidence and collaboration around our communications and audience strategies.

Wednesday is a whole team office and gallery day when staff meetings take place.
Salary - £65,000 to £70,000 gross per annum based on full-time working, equating to:
£39,000 - £42,000 gross per annum based on part-time working 3 days per week,
£52,000- £56,000 gross per annum based on part-time working 4 days per week.
Location - Crafts Council Office and Gallery is based on the Pentonville Road in Islington, London, with some hybrid / home working.

The post holder will be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership, management and oversight of a team.
The post-holder is responsible for shaping policy positions, drafting responses to consultations from councils, combined authorities, and devolved governments, and driving impactful campaigns at a regional level. A key focus is increasing the involvement of blind and partially sighted people in advocacy and campaigning.
Additionally, the role leads the implementation of Guide Dogs’ regional marketing and communications strategy across the Devolved Nations. Key Responsibilities
Policy Development

Fundraising

About Chapter One
Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 180 local and national businesses. The volunteer task is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

Read for Good is a national charity dedicated to inspiring children to develop a life-changing love of reading. Their flagship Readathon programme in schools has been motivating children to read since 1984 and their unique Hospitals programme brings brand new books and storyteller visits to major children's hospitals across the UK.
They reach hundreds of thousands of children every year and are now ready for a new Chief Executive to turn the page and expertly lead them into their next chapter.
Location: Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. Hybrid, minimum 3 days per week onsite
Salary: £65-£75k (appointing low to mid band with room to grow)
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week (part-time will be considered for the right candidate)
Benefits: 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays and Christmas closure), 3% employer pension contribution (8% total).

We're looking for a Chief Executive to lead with both head and heart - someone who can hold the big picture, while staying close to what matters most: children, stories and the joy of reading.
You'll understand how to chart a clear path ahead, guiding people forward whilst also creating the right conditions for your team to thrive. This is a role for a leader who instinctively strikes the right balance between plans and people - someone who can enable Read for Good to grow with confidence, whilst maintaining the spark that makes them who they are.
About the role
You'll work closely with the Board and senior team to create and deliver a focused, impact-led strategy. You'll strengthen financial resilience, nurture a collaborative culture, and increase national visibility across publishing, education, literacy, health and related sectors.
As well as being an influential ambassador, advocating externally to raise their national profile, you'll also be custodian and protector of the "magic" that is at the heart of Read for Good.

The Marketing Manager will lead integrated marketing initiatives that drive B2B audience engagement and promote commercial products.
Key Responsibilities
