About the Role 

The Development Operations team enables all philanthropic income across the Barbican. As we prepare for a major comprehensive campaign and significant growth in activity, The Development Manager, Operations is central to strengthening the systems and infrastructure that support our fundraising.
You will lead a team spanning CRM, prospect research, events operations and audience giving, ensuring the department has the systems, insight and financial rigour to deliver sustainable income growth at scale.

In this role, you will:

•    Lead and improve the systems, policies and processes that support fundraising, embedding best practice and driving efficiency.
•    Oversee Development finances, including income tracking, forecasting and budgeting, working closely with Finance to ensure accuracy and insight.
•    Act as strategic lead for our CRM (Spektrix) and data environment, overseeing reporting, gift processing, data integrity and compliance (GDPR, Gift Aid).
•    Support the administration of the Barbican Centre Trust, ensuring statutory compliance and high-quality support to Trustees and senior stakeholders.
•    Manage and develop a high-performing Operations team, setting clear priorities during a period of growth and change.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

•    Significant experience in fundraising or charity operations (arts sector experience desirable).
•    Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting.
•    Deep CRM expertise (ideally Spektrix) and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insight.
•    A solid understanding of charity regulation, Gift Aid and GDPR.

This role will lead the delivery of Radnorshire Wildlife Trust’s new three-year Pentwyn Food, Farming & Nature Project, Cylch Bwyd, an initiative designed to strengthen the local food system while enhancing biodiversity and community resilience across Radnorshire.

The project focuses on two interconnected priorities:

1. Increasing education on food growing, with a strong emphasis on environmental impact, biodiversity, and climate resilience.

2. Supporting, connecting and promoting the local food economy.

Working from Pentwyn, the Project Manager will oversee the creation of a community growing space, enhancement of habitat demonstrating nature-friendly food production, and delivery of an ambitious programme of school visits, workshops, and outreach activities. The role will build strong relationships between farmers, growers, schools, local food businesses and community members, helping to bridge divides and create long-term collaboration.

This position requires a confident leader with experience in community engagement, and partnership working - particularly within a farming context in Wales. The successful candidate will combine strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, ensuring measurable ecological gains alongside meaningful educational and social impact. As part of the role, the Project Manager will also take on responsibility for managing other RWT community projects, and be expected to contribute to the long term ambition of the site, and that will include contributing to fundraising and generating ideas for future projects.

The Social Media and Marketing Officer will deliver high-performing digital marketing campaigns that drive supporter acquisition and engagement. Process – a development programme for women, non-binary and trans+ music makers. Structured across three strands for different abilities (Create, Define, Release), Process combines workshops, mentoring and masterclasses to build skills, confidence and community for underrepresented producers.

Out The Box (OTB) – hands-on analogue mixing workshops in leading London studios, giving emerging producers practical experience with desks, outboard gear and professional engineers while bridging digital and analogue production techniques.

The Prospect Researcher plays a key role in supporting high-value fundraising efforts by identifying, analysing, and prioritising potential donors, trusts, and foundations aligned with the Charity’s mission. Through in-depth research and insight generation, the post holder will build a strong, actionable pipeline of prospects, enabling personalised engagement strategies for the Philanthropy Team. Working collaboratively across the Engagement Team, the Prospect Researcher will provide intelligence that shapes cultivation plans, provides insights that supports strategic conversations at events, monitors giving trends, and ensures all prospect activity is data-informed, ethical, and compliant. This role is vital to driving sustainable income growth and deepening the Charity’s reach within the philanthropic community.

Prospect Identification and Research 

• Conduct thorough research to identify and profile potential high-value donors, trusts, and foundations aligned with the charity’s mission and appeal goals.
• Use a range of tools, databases, and resources to gather information on prospects, including their giving capacity, interests, and philanthropic history.
• Prioritise prospects based on their potential value, affinity, and likelihood to engage with the charity.

Intelligence Gathering and Analysis

• Analyse research findings to produce detailed and actionable prospect profiles for use by the Philanthropy Team.
• Provide insights into donor motivations and interests to support personalised cultivation strategies.
• Monitor trends in philanthropy and the wider funding landscape to identify emerging opportunities.

Pipeline Management 

• Support the development and maintenance of a robust prospect pipeline, ensuring it aligns with the income targets and timelines of the capital appeal and core funding opportunities.
• Work closely with the rest of the Relationship Engagement Team to prioritise prospects and support with research required for cultivation activities.
• Track and update prospect records in the charity’s CRM system, Microsoft Dynamics, to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

Ethical Research and Compliance 

• Ensure all research is conducted ethically, legally, and in line with data protection regulations and best practices.
• Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when handling donor and prospect information.

Collaboration and Reporting

• Collaborate with fundraising colleagues to share insights and ensure a coordinated approach to donor cultivation.
• Prepare regular reports on research activities, prospect pipeline status, and key insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Support the Relationship Engagement Team with ad hoc research needs, such as preparation for donor meetings or events.

Knowledge and Expereince 

• Proven experience in prospect research, fundraising, or a related field, preferably in the charity sector.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise large amounts of information into clear and actionable insights.
• Proficiency in using research tools, databases, and online resources to identify and evaluate prospects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role of Marketing and Communications Coordinator is to provide support in ensuring the
local community is kept informed about Matrix and its projects, as well as engaged in
supporting us. We expect you to be creative, enthusiastic about our cause and an effective
communicator. In this role you will work independently, but in close liaison with the CEO,
Wider Leadership Team and the wider Matrix team.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
External Communication
● In collaboration with the CEO, write, edit and coordinate the production and delivery of
all postal and electronic newsletters.
● Plan, prepare and coordinate communication with Matrix donors, supporter Churches
and the wider public.
● Create, plan and schedule posts across all Matrix social media channels.
● Develop original copy for social media platforms, websites, broadcast and printed
advertising materials.
● In collaboration with the Data Coordinator, simplifying complex data into a user-friendly
format such as graphs, charts and other visual aids.
● Ensure Matrix team understand and use the correct branding for internal and external
communications.
● Understand brand guidelines and consistently implement the brand voice across all
channels and marketing materials and encourage the wider team to do the same.
● Collaborate closely with the Data Coordinator and Head of Operations to ensure our
supporters database meets GDPR and Fundraising Regulation requirements.
● In liaison with the CEO, write and submit press releases as required.
Income Generation and Networking
● Participate in the Fundraising Working Group, working with the Income Generation
Strategy to enhance our income.
● Attend Matrix fundraising events, taking photographs and supporting with appropriate
creative tasks.
● Support the Head of Operations in producing written funding applications, as required.
● Represent Matrix at networking events alongside the Leadership Team.

Support to Executive Team
● Under the direction of the Head of Operations, collaborate closely with the Operations
Team.
● Undertake a variety of creative administrative tasks for the CEO and Head of
Operations as required.
● Under the direction of the Head of Operations, provide additional administrative
support to the wider Leadership Team.
● Work within our wider Organisational Strategy and Communications Strategy.
