We’re looking for an experienced trade union organiser to lead campaigns, grow our membership, support activists and deliver outstanding representation.

The role

Our 1,200 staff work across 12 UK regions and our national centre in London. Regional offices support the work of local branches, helping to represent, recruit, organise and retain members, as well as making key contributions in areas such as campaigning, strategies for negotiation and bargaining, and actions against discrimination.

As a Regional Organiser, you’ll be playing a hands on, day to day leadership role, as well as acting as an advocate of the union. Guiding, supporting and developing local branches and activists to ensure the strongest possible workplace organisation, you’ll identify activist training and development needs, provide coaching and mentoring to stewards and branch officers, and manage a small team of area/local organisers. Additionally, you will lead negotiations, represent members individually and collectively, and help branches to develop effective systems and processes for handling casework.

The person

What we’re looking for...

• An understanding of our movement, its pressures and drivers, with a passion for equality.

• Ability to provide advice and guidance on the effective organisation of key branch duties (eg maintaining membership density, activist base enhancement, supporting employers with major restructuring, maintaining confidence in union ability to influence outcomes, oversight of case work and reducing response times).

• Good knowledge of key employment law, including developing case law and upcoming changes that may affect members.

• Good understanding of the political landscape and how this might impact our approach.

• Ability to manage a team of staff, with a willingness to collaborate and to lead by example.

• Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with proven ability to manage high level negotiations and representation of cases in challenging situations.

• Ability to build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, ability to influence and engage at all levels eg activists, democratic bodies/committees.

• Strategic project management experience, including budget management. Ability to develop strategies and solutions to solve complex problems.

This is a field based role and you will need to be able to travel in and around the South West region, including to our regional offices in Bristol, Exeter, Taunton and Poole, as required and occasionally to London for training, meetings or other purposes. The South West region covers a large area from Wiltshire to Cornwall.  However, for the foreseeable future we expect this post to be based in the Bristol office and will be supporting our branches in the north of the region (Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire).

About the role

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will establish and lead Woman’s Trust’s policy and public affairs function. She will grow the organisation’s influence with UK and London government, Parliament, NHS systems, commissioners and sector partners so that the voices and experiences of women and children affected by domestic abuse shape policy, commissioning and practice.

The postholder will develop and deliver an evidence-led influencing strategy; own a focused portfolio of policy priorities; build and manage senior stakeholder relationships; produce high-quality analysis, briefings and consultation responses; and provide timely political and public affairs advice to the CEO, Chair, trustees and senior colleagues.

Working across services, data, communications and fundraising, she will ensure Woman’s Trust’s external positions are grounded in frontline expertise, robust evidence and appropriately supported survivor involvement. She will identify opportunities for the organisation to influence debate and policy at the intersection of domestic abuse, women’s mental health, health inequalities and public services.

Hours: 35 hours per week. A four-day/0.8 FTE arrangement will be considered.

This is not a traditional domestic abuse role, you will support people of all genders affected by gender-based abuse and help shape a service built around prevention, creativity, and community voice. 3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Operations & Reporting

· Process day-to-day financial operations via Xero, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.

· Administer the sales ledgers, working with other managers, to raise timely invoices and credit notes.

· Maintain strong working relationships with debtors to ensure prompt payment of invoices.

· Administer the purchase ledgers, supporting other managers, ensuring accurate accounting of invoices/other expenses. Oversee purchase order process. Maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and internal customers.

· Streamline processes to improve efficiency and transparency.

· Support Governance & Compliance

· Help with the preparation of reports for the Finance & Audit Committee and Board of Trustees.

Programme Leadership & Delivery

You must be sensitive and empathetic to working in a hospice environment, and any knowledge or understanding of In-Memory and Legacy giving would be desirable.

You must be able to work flexibly including occasional evening and weekends as required.

The Operations Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of St Bride Foundation, helping to ensure our historic building is safe, compliant, well maintained and welcoming.

Working closely with the Operations Manager and Facilities Coordinator, you'll provide support across facilities management while also acting as a welcoming first point of contact for visitors, tenants and contractors. We're looking for an organised, approachable and proactive individual who enjoys a varied role and is equally comfortable managing administrative tasks behind the scenes as delivering excellent front of house service.

 Key Responsibilities: 

Operational Administration

• Provide administrative support to the Operations Manager and Facilities Coordinator across all aspects of facilities management including planned preventative maintenance programmes and reactive maintenance requests.
• Liaise with Facilities Coordinator to ascertain what jobs can be completed in-house and what needs an external contractor.
• Obtain quotations for maintenance, repairs and improvement works from contractors and suppliers.
• Arrange contractor visits, coordinate access and ensure works are completed to the required standard.
• Ensure contractors provide appropriate documentation, including risk assessments, method statements and insurance certificates where required.
• Maintain records of maintenance schedules, servicing, warranties and contractor documentation.
• Check and process invoices relating to facilities expenditure.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance logs and supplier information.

Health & Safety Administration

• Support the Facilities Coordinator and Operations Manager in maintaining Health & Safety records and ensure documentation is up to date.
• Support Health & Safety compliance appropriate to a Grade II listed heritage building and its public, commercial and performance spaces.
• Support the administration of statutory inspections, testing and servicing, including fire safety systems, emergency lighting, lifts, electrical testing and water hygiene.
• Assist with the administration of risk assessments, inspections and audits.
• Monitor compliance dates and ensure inspections and certifications are completed on time.
• Assist with emergency procedures, fire safety administration and business continuity documentation.

Front of House & Building Support

• Provide Front of House support, covering reception desk during core hours, welcoming visitors and providing excellent customer service.
• Assist with general queries on email and drop-in enquiries. Receive deliveries, distribute post and manage courier collections.
• Act as a point of contact for building tenants, responding to queries and coordinating facilities requests.
• Assist with room access, keys and general building administration.
• Help ensure shared spaces remain safe, presentable and welcoming.

Digital & Administrative Support

• Support the Learning team with updating of event listings across ticketing platforms and the organisation's website as required.
• Manage the administration of the organisation's online bookshop, including processing orders, maintaining stock records and liaising with customers where required.

General

• Act as an ambassador for St Bride Foundation, upholding its mission to preserve and promote print and design heritage. 
• Engage with stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and beneficiaries, to strengthen community and fundraising efforts. 
• Support and contribute to initiatives that enhance the Foundation’s impact, such as public engagement events, educational programmes, and collaborative partnerships.
• Complete ongoing staff training to include Health & Safety, compliance and other related topics as required by the organisation. 
• Contribute to the smooth running of the organisation by supporting colleagues across departments.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.

Essential Qualifications & Experience: 

• Excellent administrative and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers or facilities-related services.
• Confident obtaining quotations, scheduling works and maintaining accurate records.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety administration within a workplace environment.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365 and experience using databases or online management systems.
