About the Role: The Finance Officer (Income) is a vital member of the Finance team, responsible for the accurate accounting, reconciliation, and reporting of the Charity's diverse income streams. You will manage the monthly income reconciliation process, prepare income journals, support Gift Aid accounting, and work closely with colleagues across Finance, Data and Fundraising teams to ensure income is recorded correctly and allocated to the appropriate funds and appeals.

The role offers the opportunity to gain broad experience across charity finance, including income accounting, fund accounting, Gift Aid, audit support, and financial controls. You will contribute to maintaining robust financial processes and help ensure the Charity can maximise the impact of every donation received.

In this role you are responsible for day-to-day operational activity across both finance and HR functions, working closely with the Finance Officer and reporting to the Head of Finance (with ‘dotted line’ reporting to Director of Finance and Operations in respect of HR activity). 
The role requires effective use of systems to enable efficient processes, with responsibility for data held on the HR system and management of routine employee related processes including recruitment and onboarding. HR and Recruitment
• Maintain accurate data on our HR system including starters, leavers, holiday and other absences
• Report on key employee metrics including sickness absence, holiday, TOIL, diversity
• Support line managers with recruitment activity including making effective use of the Applicant Tracking System to ensure a good candidate experience and to report recruitment metrics to enable continuous improvement
• Manage onboarding for new starters including reference requests, pre-employment checks, induction processes

• Support Head of Finance with monthly payroll processes

Finance Administration
• Maintain appropriate employee access to Finance Systems, including being able to claim staff expenses and raise sales invoice requests, and support employees in using these systems. 
• Respond to queries in the central accounts mailbox, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support Head of Finance and Finance Officer with Purchase Ledger, including posting and payment of supplier invoices in a timely manner, ensuring accurate coding and authorisation in line with limits, maintenance of supplier accounts, reconciliations and remittances.
• Support Head of Finance and Finance Officer with management of company credit cards and virtual cards, including reconciling statements and accurate posting to the ledger. 
• Assist in raising sales invoices and accurately recording income. 
• Assist with Credit Control, chasing overdue debts and reporting to the Head of Finance.
• Support Head of Finance with analysis of financial data from the finance system (Xero) for reporting and other ad-hoc purposes
• Assist in maintaining up to date procedures.

This role sits within the Finance and Operations team whose focus is to ensure the organisations operate as effectively and efficiently as possible. Our team operates across Finance, HR, Technology, Facilities and Compliance, to ensure that systems and processes are set up which promote smooth delivery and support the work of the organisations. The National Lottery Community Fund is delivering an environmental strategy that will not only help communities we Fund but also identifies us as an exemplar in managing our own environmental impact. It’s an exciting time to join the Fund as the Environmental Officer role will help lead our journey to Net Zero emissions as well as support our Environmental Strategy both internally and externally.  An interest in climate change and an understanding of environmental sustainability in the workplace will be a key part to this role as well as the confidence to bring in new ideas and support engagement of staff.

The role will sit within the Facilities team which helps support all nine of the Fund’s offices which are based in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

The Environmental Officer role will be varied but some of the key responsibilities are:

• You will be responsible for facilitating the Fund’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and move towards being a Net Zero organisation. You will lead best practice around environmental sustainability across sites and engage staff to consider their own impact.
   
• You will draw learning and resources from external sources, to develop an array of approaches, with a view to getting all staff to consider the resources they use, irrespective of their motivation
   
• You will support the Fund’s established Climate Action Network, ensuring that they all feel connected to and can contribute to energy and resource savings projects/initiatives/themes.
   
• You will ensure projects are well planned and progressed and will collate and share environmental measures to demonstrate achievements.
   
• You will help with environmental data capture and carbon accounting and reporting on any trends both internally and externally.
   
• You will also provide relevant updates to Senior Management Team (SMT) and work closely with the SMT lead on environmental sustainability, highlighting any issues requiring resolution
   
• The role will mainly be based in one office, but you’ll be required to engage across the Fund and develop communications that will reach all staff.
   
• You may be drawn into any project/team to advise on environmental sustainability.
   
• You will engage with internal and external stakeholders and will support the communication of strong external messages declaring our dedication to working sustainably.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Serve as the Fund’s lead contact for environmental matters, providing advice and maintaining oversight of environmental activity.
• Support the implementation and delivery of the Fund’s Net Zero commitments through effective stakeholder engagement and strategic guidance.
• Coordinate environmental data collection and reporting processes to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Draft and coordinate environmental reports, including following guidance for sustainability returns to DCMS and the sustainability report for inclusion within the Annual Report and Accounts.

Skills & Requirements

The candidate for this role should have passion, commitment, and enthusiasm to help deliver our Net Zero targets. They should have good communication skills as well as strong analytical and report writing skills. Previous experience of environmental sustainability within the workplace would be beneficial.

This is an essential car user post. The applicant must hold a current UK driver’s licence, with no more than 6 points, have access to a car and be able and willing to drive UK wide as required.

This senior role requires flexibility in working hours and location.  It is primarily offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in our Amersham, Buckinghamshire, office each week. As a leader in co-production, we will help communities to work with system leaders at national and neighbourhood level to make big decisions together. This will maximise the skills and capabilities of patients, ensuring care is truly person-centred.

- Shift the measures of success
By campaigning for better patient experience and outcomes metrics, we can ensure that what matters to people becomes the key measure of success for the NHS.

In the first two years of the strategy we have already made big strides. For example, our work encouraging the Government to focus on “getting the basics right” has seen major policy initiatives designed to fix access to primary care and the 8am rush. Similarly, our work on the experience of waiting for elective care has seen the introduction of the first ever set of minimum standards for waiting.

Our work on the 10 Year Plan, and on the Quality Strategy, has also seen both patient experience and outcome measures given much greater prominence in how the NHS judges success and National Voices has now been commissioned by NHS England to help design the future of patient feedback mechanisms.

We have also successfully campaigned for funding formulas to be revised to enable the NHS to directly address the inverse care law and tackle the impact of health inequalities head on.

But there are challenges ahead, not least the role patients and communities play directly in co-producing improvement. With ICBs under huge financial pressures, and so much change in the health and care system, we need to make sure every piece of work we deliver is of the highest quality and adds real value. This is the only way to help others across the sector understand the value that people with Lived Experience offer to problem solving processes and creating better and more inclusive solutions.

We support adults, families, young people and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse, providing specialist services that offer safety, support, recovery and hope. This role will support the smooth running of our finance function by helping to process income, expenditure, payroll information, reconciliations, funder records and financial administration accurately and on time. You will be experienced in finance administration, bookkeeping or a similar role, with strong attention to detail and confidence working with financial information, spreadsheets and finance systems. You will support purchase and sales ledger work, reconciliations, payment processes, payroll information, Gift Aid, month-end tasks and accurate record keeping. You will also be comfortable communicating with colleagues across the organisation, helping them follow finance processes and ensuring queries are dealt with clearly and professionally.

About School of Hard Knocks

School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) is one of the UK’s leading education charities, working in 29 secondary schools across England, Scotland, and Wales. Using rugby as a key delivery tool, we support young people who are struggling to engage in early secondary education - often because of anxiety, low confidence, disrupted home lives, or behavioural challenges rooted in trauma. For many of the children we support, life has already brought more hardship than most adults experience in a lifetime. Our purpose is clear: to help young people facing complex challenges break the cycle and move towards a safer, stronger, more hopeful future.

The SOHK Schools Programme is a two-year intervention working with cohorts of around 20 pupils from Year 7 through to Year 9. Pupils are selected by the school and are typically among the hardest to reach young people. Each week, we deliver half a day of rugby training and classroom sessions built around our 3Cs framework, covering topics such as growth mindset, goal setting, and decision-making, alongside monthly one-to-one sessions with every pupil. The programme’s impact is evaluated by SOHK staff, teachers, parents, and the pupils themselves.

The Role

The CEO is the public face and leader of SOHK, responsible for the overall strategic direction, vision, and management of the charity - ensuring SOHK meets its mission and strategic objectives while maintaining strong relationships with Trustees, staff, supporters, and the wider SOHK community. We’re looking for a mission-driven charity leader and effective fundraiser, capable of building a sustainable growth model.

Strategy and Direction

● Be the face and voice of the charity - its principal ambassador

● Lead the development and periodic review of SOHK’s strategy with the Trustees and Senior Management Team

About the role 

We are recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager to lead and manage CASPA’s financial operations. 

This role involves overseeing the charity’s financial management, producing budgets and management accounts, monitoring cashflow, ensuring financial compliance, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring robust financial systems and controls are in place across the organisation. 

The successful candidate will join our Senior Leadership Team, supporting the CEO and Board of Trustees and playing a pivotal role in achieving the charity’s objectives and future growth

They will ideally have experience of charity finance, including budgeting, management accounts, cashflow forecasting, financial compliance and financial reporting. Knowledge of Charity SORP and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero or Sage would be advantageous.
