About our organisation
Music as Therapy International is looking for an ambitious, creative and relationship-focused Fundraising Manager to lead our fundraising as we enter an exciting new phase of our development.
Registered in 1998 and recently converted to a CIO, we are a small, established charity with a big ambition: To inspire, guide and champion caregivers to use music to strengthen care. Our work equips caregivers with practical skills and approaches that use music to improve the lives of people in vulnerable situations around the world.
We have entered a new strategic period focused on extending our reach, evolving our training and securing the future of music in care. In 2025 we operated with an income of c.£225k. We are now looking for someone to build on this, bringing fundraising expertise, initiative and curiosity to help us turn our strategic ambitions into sustainable growth.
About the role
As our Fundraising Manager, you will have a genuinely influential role in making that ambition possible. Working closely with our Director and wider team, you will take the lead on developing and delivering our fundraising strategy across trusts and foundations, major donors, regular giving, community fundraising, corporate partnerships and legacies.
This is not a role where you will be one small part of a large fundraising machine. You will have the opportunity to shape our approach, develop meaningful relationships with supporters and funders, identify new opportunities and turn our impact into compelling propositions that inspire people to give.
If you are an experienced fundraiser who enjoys having responsibility, building relationships and seeing the direct results of your work, we would like to hear from you.
Please submit your CV and a Covering Letter responding to our two questions (max. 200-300 words per question):
1) What attracted you to the Fundraising Manager role at Music as Therapy International?
2) What from your fundraising experience is most relevant to the role and the charity?
If you have any questions, or would like an informal chat about the role, please contact the charity and ask to speak to Richard.
Interviews with suitable candidates will take place as applications are received (an initial Zoom call, followed by an in-person second stage interview for shortlisted candidates).
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Every grant you win becomes someone's first conversation in English, their first step into a job interview, their first time speaking up at a housing tribunal.
English for Action (EFA) is looking for a Partnerships Manager to grow the funding that powers our free, participatory ESOL classes for around 400 migrants across London. Our classes don't just teach English, they build the confidence and collective power people need to organise around housing and employment rights.
About the role
Working closely with our Fundraising Lead, you'll take real ownership of relationships with trusts, foundations and corporate funders, while helping shape how we diversify our income going forward. This is a role with genuine scope to bring your own ideas and see them through, not just execute someone else's plan.
You will:
- Write compelling grant applications, funding proposals and reports that win and retain funding
- Research and build a realistic pipeline of trusts, liveries and corporate foundations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing donors and prospects
- Contribute to EFA's fundraising strategy, including newer income streams such as statutory, corporate, individual giving, membership and events
- Liaise with our Executive Team, Hub Leads and Project Managers so funding proposals stay grounded in what's actually happening in our classrooms and communities
- Maintain accurate donor and grant records on Donorfy, and support monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes
About you
You don't need a degree, and you're not expected to tick every box, nobody does. We're looking for someone with a track record of successful grant writing, strong research and relationship-building skills, and the organisation to manage multiple funding deadlines at once. Knowledge of the UK charity sector and UK trusts and foundations is essential; experience with public sector or EU education funding is a bonus.
If you have lived experience of migration and/or learning English as an additional language, we'd love to hear from you and how you'd like to draw on it in this role.
About EFA
English for Action provides free, participatory, empowering ESOL classes for migrants in London, spaces where students build community and organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. We're a national centre of good practice for a radical, participatory approach to ESOL, and we share this approach through training, research and partnerships. We're a team of 11 staff, a wider team of volunteers, and 7 trustees, run through shared leadership rather than a CEO, decisions are made collaboratively, and we aim for our structure to reflect that.
What we offer
- 22.5 hours (3 days) a week, mostly remote, with just monthly in-person meetings in London
- 28 days' annual leave (pro rata) after probation, plus bank holidays, plus a full week's paid closure over Christmas
- 6% matched pension contribution
- Enhanced sick pay, and enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental leave
- Wellbeing allowance and full entitlement to leave for sickness, including mental ill-health
- A genuinely flat, non-hierarchical culture with collaborative decision-making on strategy and practice
- Tech and cycle scheme, and actively encouraged continuous personal development
Equal opportunities
EFA particularly encourages applications from people of colour, who are currently underrepresented at EFA and across the charity sector, and from people who have experienced moving to the UK or have English as an additional language. Where two or more candidates are of equal merit, priority may be given to a candidate from a less well-represented group. Please let us know about any access or other requirements we can accommodate.
Closing date: 11.59pm, Wednesday 30th September 2026
Skills test: w/c 5th October 2026 (writing and budgeting)
Interviews: Friday 9th / 16th October 2026

Help turn local generosity into life-changing support for people when they need it most.
At Braintree Area Foodbank, we believe no one in our community should have to face hunger or hardship alone.
We provide emergency food and practical support to individuals and families in crisis, while working towards longer-term solutions to poverty. Over recent years, we have increasingly focused on providing more in-depth support, helping people maximise their income, address the challenges they face and create the conditions to move forward.
Now, we are looking for a proactive and driven Fundraising Manager to help us build a sustainable future.
Please note that interviews will take place on the 15th of October 2026. We will be actively shortlisting and so will get in touch as soon as possible about inviting you to interview.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow our fundraising function. You will develop income from businesses, community organisations and individuals, building relationships that help turn local generosity into meaningful, long-term support.
You will have the freedom to identify opportunities, develop new ideas and build fundraising activity from a relatively blank slate. While we already have an established base of supporters and fundraising materials, there is significant scope to develop new relationships, improve supporter engagement and create sustainable sources of unrestricted income.
Working closely with the Charity Manager, staff and Trustees, you will play a key role in building a fundraising function capable of making a significant contribution towards the foodbank's future.
Fundraising Manager
Location: Braintree, Essex (hybrid working considered)
Contract: 2-year fixed term, part-time, 25 hours per week, with scope to increase in future
Salary: £18,000–£20,000 per year (£27,000–£30,000 FTE)
Annual Leave: 33 days including bank holidays (F.T.E)
What you'll be doing
- Developing and delivering fundraising activity across corporate, community and individual giving.
- Building relationships with local businesses and developing opportunities for partnerships, sponsorship, employee fundraising and other forms of support.
- Developing relationships with churches, schools, community groups and other local organisations.
- Growing individual giving, including encouraging one-off supporters to become regular donors.
- Identifying and approaching new supporters and proactively developing fundraising opportunities.
- Developing campaigns, appeals, newsletters and other communications that inspire people to support our work.
- Creating a structured approach to supporter stewardship, ensuring donors understand the difference their support makes.
- Building and maintaining a clear pipeline of fundraising opportunities and relationships.
- Maintaining accurate supporter records and ensuring appropriate GDPR and data protection practices.
- Monitoring fundraising activity and income, evaluating what works and reporting progress to the Charity Manager and Trustees.
- Developing and implementing an annual fundraising plan.
- Representing the foodbank at meetings, networking events and within the local community.
This job is for you if...
- You have experience in fundraising, business development, sales, income generation or another role involving securing financial support.
- You are confident building relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- You are comfortable approaching people, making the case for support and asking for financial contributions.
- You are an excellent communicator, both in person and in writing.
- You are proactive, self-motivated and enjoy working independently.
- You can turn ideas into practical action and are comfortable building something new.
- You are organised and able to manage multiple relationships, opportunities and priorities.
- You are confident using databases, spreadsheets, email and standard office software.
- You share our commitment to treating people experiencing hardship with dignity and respect.
Experience of charity fundraising, corporate partnerships, individual giving, community fundraising or supporter databases would be an advantage, but we welcome applications from people with transferable experience from other sectors.
About us
Braintree Area Foodbank is a charity founded on Christian principles. Not every member of our team is a Christian, but we share a commitment to the values that underpin our work and welcome applications from people who do the same.
We believe that all people are created equal and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where people are treated fairly and with respect.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to make a real difference locally while building something with long-term potential. You won't simply be maintaining an existing fundraising programme, you'll have the opportunity to shape it, grow it and help create a more sustainable future for a charity supporting thousands of people across our community.
Our mission is the prevention and relief of poverty in the Braintree District via emergency food, essentials and wrap around support
